I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in new series by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick. It was a sweet and sexy read with enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat. I loved both Samantha and Hunter, and the chemistry between them practically burned my Kindle. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great Characters, Suspense, and Smoking HOT Sex.....but no chemistry.

I enjoyed the story, the plot, and the characters. The chemistry was the only thing missing. I just didn't feel it. I wanted to experience that feeling of love, lust, and longing.

Surprisingly, as you can see from the rating I gave it, that didn't stop me from enjoying this hot little number. I guess the sex and the suspense was enough. But I do have a question........where is the cowboy?

This is the first book in the new Moving Violations series. It is a romantic suspense book set in a small California town. This is a HOT read. The characters are funny and have a very amusing relationship. The pace is fast, just like I like it. The suspense really added to the story and kept me guessing the entire time. I really enjoyed this start to a new series.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I love this author and the story line to a point....but way too much sex ruined the plot. I kept thinking oh they're at it again and skimmed a lot of pages to get back to the story. For those who like that, go for it but it felt like a filler for me. Especially after a traumatic event, meh let me make it better and have sex again.
Samantha and Hunter are cops and their friendship goes back to their childhood days. Coming together as adults lust was their driving force. He was the Sheriff so the story wasn't about him being a cowboy at all. The town was corrupt and plenty more happening so I'll see what the next book brings.

One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh & Veronica Chadwick
Moving Violation Book #1

Action-packed suspense-filled murder mystery with a spicy romance running through the story...fun read that kept me up way past my bedtime.

Samantha left Deerhaven over a decade ago but has returned to bury her aunt and also find out who killed her. She has a job in Detroit on the police force and has taken a couple of weeks of to see if she can find the murderer. There have actually been three possible murders in town of people who were close friends and Sheriff Hunter Steele smells something fishy going on.

Samantha was young and a thorn in Hunter’s side before she left but she is all grown up now and the chemistry is strong and potent. They agree to look for the murderer and find out what is wrong in town and as they do so they grow closer every minute. This story has corruption, drug and human trafficking, terrorists, abuse, a stalker and a HEA for Samantha and Hunter but FIRST they have to get out of a sticky situation with the help of a few other law enforcement personnel.

The story never really said who the murderer was though the reason why the people were killed is made known and, the young child heard in the back of a camper was never mentioned as found or not so there were a few loose ends that were not tied up in a bow...perhaps they will be when the next book comes out with Jacob, an interesting man indeed, the star in his own book.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I was happy Lora Leigh had a new series and for it to be centered around a cowboy just added to it. I’ve read many books by this author and have never been disappointed by her stories. This is a excellent start for the new series.

This is a very sexy story that kept me hooked trying to find out what was going on with the numerous “accidents”. The characters are so well described and so different as they added layers to the story. The story flow is solid. There are entertaining side issues like Hunter’s ex and Jacob’s sex life, while keeping my focus on what was really going on and who all was involved.

Then there are the two bad deputies, Jacob, Mayor Henderson, the pharmacist and his wife, Tom Novak, Samantha’s ex, Gabriel and Logan plus Hunter’s nephews all who leave open the possibilities of many more stories. Overall I enjoyed this mystery and can’t wait for the next in the series. I was given a free copy from Net Galley and this is a voluntary review.

One Tough Cowboy is the first in a new series from Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick. I was a little wary to read it at first because in the past I've found Lora Leigh's writing style to be slightly confusing. However, I'm a sucker for cowboys and western romance is one of my favorite sub-genres. Add suspense to the plot and I've got my next weekend read!

Samantha was the wild child who looked to Hunter for protection. He's older and strong enough to fight off her bullies. Fast-forward to the present, Hunter is the sheriff of Deerhaven and Samantha has come back to town for her aunt's funeral. Now an officer herself, Sam won't rest until she discovers the truth behind the suspicious deaths of Deerhaven residents, including her aunt's.

The corruption in their small town was just a theory. When Hunter and Sam start working together the stakes are raised and learning the truth is even more dangerous. On the surface, the story seems like a typical small-town romance, but after meeting the determined hero and heroine of the story you know that you're in for a fast-paced romance with a side of action. The dynamic between Hunter and Sam is hot enough to melt the pages! I loved how they worked together on, and off, the case even when they didn't get along. It was like their relationship was inevitable even before there was sexual attraction between them. Readers who enjoy Donna Grant's Heart of Texas series will definitely dig One Tough Cowboy.

One Tough Cowboy is not a predictable story. Not to say that there are a lot of plot twists and turns, but it unfolded in a unique manner that kept me wondering where it was going. I can't wait to see where the next book in the series takes readers because it looks like it's going to be an enjoyable ride!

One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh is a smoldering romantic tale. I was instantly swept up into the characters' lives. Their journey began with love and blossomed into a fiery heat that only they can contain. The woman who loved the man who always rescued her and the man who always wanted and is now going to fight for her love. Hot, suspenseful, and heartfelt, One Tough Cowboy has it all.

I loved Hunter. A one man team trying to destroy his town's corruption once and for all. His determination and strength made him a swoon worthy male. Samantha has her own demons to fight and isn't sure if Hunter's interest is real or not. Feelings surface and bubble over, causing a storm unlike any to brew. Lora Leigh has a way with words. I couldn't stop reading this romance novel. Overall, I highly recommend it to all.

One Tough Cowboy was a really good read. Samantha had the hugest crush on Hunter when she was young. He was always her hero and seemed to always be there to protect her. He later became the hometown sheriff but his job isn’t easy. There is something going on and he knows the Mayor is into something bad. The Mayor has hired two deputies who are worthless to Hunter but until they do something really bad, he can’t get rid of them. Samantha is now back in town for the burial of her Aunt Dottie. She knows her aunt didn’t die from an accidental overdose of medication and is determined to find out what happened. This is the third death and as they were all best friends their deaths are linked somehow. Another fact is Samantha is currently part of the Detroit Police Department and plans to be on leave till this case is solved. Great match when she and Hunter go after the bad guys but have they bitten off more than they can chew.

I was generously given an ARC from Netgalley though it does not influence my thoughts or opinions of the book.
This story was quite the wild ride! Sam & Hunter were once very close until Sam's family moved away. Sam crushed on Hunter as a teenager and when she sees him again when her Aunt dies, she realizes her attraction to him never went away.
Hunter is concerned about the three recent deaths within the last year or so and has a feeling that something is just not right. When he sees Sam again, he's nearly knocked over by his attraction to her. Sam is just as determined as Hunter is to find out what's going on and Sam wants to know what really happened to her beloved Aunt.
Little do they both know just how much is really going on despite hunches but they are about to be in for the surprise of their lives.
Also they soon find it very difficult to keep their hands of each other and there's quite a bit of steamy scenes.
When they are ambushed trying to get to the bottom of a terrible and illegal ring of crime, Sam will find herself having to confront and old stalker boyfriend and find assistance in the help of an unlikely ally.

I really enjoyed the first half of the book but some aspects of the second weren't quite my cup of tea. I would like to mention that there is a violent sexual assault to Sam that may be a trigger for some. There were also some inconsistencies that left me a tad confused particularly the terrorist/trafficking connection of Detroit and Sam's very small town in CA. Also fairly certain viagra would have been needed for the amount of happy steamy time that happened in a short amount of time.

Overall, it was an interesting book and I'm glad to have read it. Looking forward to more books in the series especially with a few names briefly mentioned in this book who are rather tall, dark, a touch broody, not to be messed with and I'm curious about their stories!

Star Rating- 3.5

Loved this book, a story of past desires which you thought where one-sided but actually are reciprocated. But who loves a romance that runs smoothly as Hunter and Samantha are both caught up in a set of murders in their sweet little town. Hunter is so hot and i love how protective he was of Samantha in the past and now in the present. I loved the danger element of the story, it added another level of tension between Samantha and Hunter - not just the romantic tension but one of protectiveness and strength in the characters especially alpha Hunter.Very sexy at times and very hot - you have been warned!!

Hunter and Samantha’s love story was HOT, HOT, HOT!!! I absolutely enjoyed One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick, book one in their Moving Violations series.
Detroit Detective Samantha returns to the small California town where grew up after the suspicious death of her aunt, an overdose of pain pills. Hunter was appointed sheriff by the governor after the suspicious death of his uncle; while hunting, except he didn’t hunt. When Samantha encounters Hunter, the cowboy who always protected her from bullies, she finds she is still attracted this handsome, hot sheriff, with a heart of gold. Hunter still has feeling for Samantha and the low-smoldering heat of their innocent childhood flirtation has matured into a raging fire, consuming them both. When Hunter enlists Samantha’s help in an investigation, he prays he can keep this love of his life safe and show her how much she means to him. All he needs is for Samantha to believe and trust in him.

This reader felt singed by the heat and chemistry between these two characters. The suspense of trying to find not only the killer, or killers, was intense as was Hunter’s search to find out what evil was going on in his county and by whom.

Ms. Leigh and Ms. Chadwick wrote an amazing, erotic, suspenseful and emotional story that is not to be missed. They provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, scary situations, and endearing characters. I struggled to put this book down. I highly recommend One Tough Cowboy to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A good mix between romance and suspense, One Tough Cowboy keep you from put the book down and always anxious to know what will happen next. Sam and Hunter have great chemistry together (on and out of the bed) and it was great reading their love story.

This is book 1 in the Moving Violations series and it features Hunter and Sam. These two are sizzling HOT! These authors did an AMAZING job of being perfectly descriptive. As a couple, Hunter and Sam are powerful and smart with explosive chemistry. The things that were uncovered were shocking and I’m looking forward to unraveling this complicated web. This is not a cliffhanger as far as Hunter and Sam are concerned. Their part of the story is complete but the investigation into what was discovered is ongoing.

Every single character in this book had purpose. There are a lot of alpha males in this book that I am hoping get their own stories because they are just begging to be told. The story line was exciting with action that had me on the edge of my seat in suspense. I can’t wait for the next book.

4.5 STARS!!

Samantha and Hunter chemistry is scorching hot!! They grow up together in the small town, and now they’re trying to figure out how Sam’s aunt die and the type of danger they’re in. However, they soon realized that Sam’s ex is part of the problem.

The story is well-paced, beutifully well-written, with characters you’re going to love to love, and some that you’ll love to hate. The plot is absolutely fantastic, action-packed, intriguing, intense and much more; and a backdrop that will make you wish you live in a place alike.

This is an amazing read that I really enjoyed, and I highly recommend.

Wow! Talk about sizzling! This book will absolutely melt anything within its vicinity and then some. To tame the heat, just a bit, is a mystery at its center, one that Hunter and Samantha are trying to solve. With shifty characters and a mayor that has his own interest at heart, this plot took us on a wild ride.

Hunter is a strong alpha hero, possessive and protective of his heroine even though she’s more than capable of taking care of herself. They knew each other when she was still a child and then again when she was seventeen they shared a moment of intense regard. Now that she’s back home again they are immediately drawn to each other as they work together to solve the murder of three of Deerhaven’s residents.

I really enjoyed this one but I will warn that there is a scene that can possible trigger some readers. There is also a lot of sex…as in, a LOT. This is a couple that will definitely leave you panting and breathless for a variety of reasons.

I really enjoyed this story. It has enough of steamy moments to burn the house down but also enough of mistery and intrigue to keep you at the edge of your seat. I really like Sam and Hunter, with their strong-willed character and love for each other. It's always fun to read when stubborn people collide. And it was fun to see how much Hunter struggle not to lock her up to keep her safe.

This is really good story. I haven't read a book by Leigh in a long time but was pleasantly surprised with the depth of the characters and how fun the book was.

What's not to love about a handsome cowboy sheriff and the spunky cop who set out to solve the murders of 3 people? Secrets, mysteries and danger wrapped in spicy romance and endearing hope. From the innocent flirtation of the past to the steamy sexiness of the present, Hunter and Sam's road to HEA is neither smooth not straight.

I loved the instant heat between Sam and Hunter. Teenage attraction blossoms into adult love. With all the mystery and danger surrounding them, they found time to connect. I enjoyed how the story built up, keeping you wondering what was next. Watching Sam and Hunter work as well as play and learn about each other made this a good read.

I received an ARC through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.
