It is the first time that i have read a book by Marc Levy. It is totally different to what i would usually read, but i do enjoy reading something different now and again. It was good, but that is far as it goes.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, in which opinions are my own.

Marc Levy is a brilliant writer, but I feel that this book missed the mark. The beginning of the book started out fantastic and I was like "More, more, more!" But as it went on it just got predictable and, honestly, boring.

2 stars for the writing, because Marc Levy can make any scene come to life.

*I received a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*

Alice, perfume creator in 1950s London, sees a psychic who tells her that she has to travel to Turkey. Her neighbor helps fund her trip there.

My bare bones summary goes along with the bare bones feel of the book. Like the author wrote the basic plot and meant to fill it in with details on the settings and characters but he forgot. I spent part of the book trying to figure out the age of the neighbor and never found out. He would sound like a cranky old man but then act young. Alice ends up with him because she loves him since....As she never at any point thinks about him at all I'll have to believe that she loved him because he's the other main character. They are both very one dimensional.

For a book that takes place in two historical cities (plus a night trip to another one) there isn't much world building. All of these places feel very flat.

The fact that I didn't rage at any point makes me leave it with a two star instead of a one.

Mr Levy writes very good books and this was no exception. Well written and engaging. I liked the setting in this one very much.

I recommend checking it out if you like well written adult fiction. It had a interesting plot and kept me reading until the end. I'll be checking out more from this author in the future.

Oh, where to begin.... Lovely tale about a young woman who leaves her friends and home to find what she thinks she has been missing. What she does find are priceless treasures - the food, fragrances and new friendships of a magical foreign land. Loved this journey with Alice!
