A wonderfully dark and thrilling novel, with exceptional character development and plot. The discussions surrounding mental illness and relationships are appropriately placed within this text. I highly recommended for anyone scouting for their next thriller fix

I enjoyed the friendship themes in this story and I loved the inclusion of a lesbian character, especially as that's not something I see a lot of in thrillers.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this book more as I didn't consider it to be really a mystery or a thriller but more of just a dark drama. While I enjoy dark dramas, I went into the book expecting a thriller and so came out disappointed.

If you are looking for a dark drama with interesting friendship themes, then give this one a go.

Dear god what a book this was, I thought it would be similar to others I’ve read of this genre and it was but it wasn’t as this was a pretty dark book!

Too Close starts with Connie meeting Vanessa (Ness) while their children play together in the local park/playground, they go on to become best friends, and the next thing you know Connie is in a mental institute with no hair, marks and burns all over her and people looking at her as if she’s a monster! What has she done? What has happened?

Lots of lies and betrayal in this one along with a fair few twists. I absolutely loved it and hope there’s more from the author soon.

Such a bloody good read, you can kinda see it’s not going to end well between them at the start and sometime I was cringing and thinking no stay away from her! As you just know it’s going to go awfully wrong for Connie.

Seriously good thriller and not one you want to miss out on!!!

This book has everything I want in a thriller. It's unputdownable. Be prepared to be glued to this story! I won't give anything away so just read it!!

Fast paced and lots of twists. One of the best I've read. Absolutely all the stars!

A nice debut novel by Natalie Daniels. I wouldn't say it's a thriller, it's more a novel about how mental illness affects people's relationships

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down, I just had to know what was going on. Great story with twist and turns from beginning to end.

This book was great. I loved that we get information on the story leading up to the present time. I would have liked a little more of the before story, but was satisfied with what we got. The relationship between the main character and the psychiatrist was well written. Very good!

A good read, with the characters Connie and Emma very well drawn. There was a huge depth of emotion between the two of them made the story special. Sadly the interplay with some of the other characters didn’t quite ring true for me

This book is, as others have stated, a slow burner, though once the plot takes hold it is gripping. The book is well written and a unique story, and explores the issues between the characters well.

I enjoyed this right up until the end when I found myself questioning the point of the story. I couldn't help but wonder why I'd bothered.

It gets a high score because it's very well written and I did want to know what happened but I suspect I was disappointed because I was expecting a mystery or thriller and it's more of a character study.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

I got to about 30% of this book and for some reason couldn’t get into it, I contemplated giving up but good reviews made me stick it out! Thank goodness I did! Absolutely loved this book and the journey you take with Connie and her story. It is a bit slow to begin but then I was addicted and just loved the character and humour. Thank you

I just want to say that this book had me right from the very beginning.

Connie is in a psychiatric hospital and they won’t tell her why she is there, but she knows she has done something terrible to be in this situation.

I was really eager to read through this as quickly as possible to find out exactly what Connie had done to end up in a secure psychiatric hospital. I loved Connie’s character in this and her stubbornness to help her psychiatrist discover why she did the things she is told she did. The story was dark with some comedic moments in Connie’s behaviour as she battles to remember what happened for her to lose all those who were close to her.

One of my favourite reads so far this year and I will look forward to the next novel from Natalie Daniels.

This was a haunting and touching read, with twists that I didn’t see coming. Natalie writes rich but believable characters.

This book was so suspenseful and had me gripped from start to finish. I absolutely loved this book! It was thrilling and tense and always kept you wondering what would happen next.

Too Close is Natalie Daniels debut novel. This book had me hooked from the very beginning and you can’t decide if Connie’s good or bad. Connie is in the hospital- they are saying she's done something terrible but she can't remember what- so the book is mainly flashbacks of what lead all these things to happen. It's only towards the end of the story that Connie goes into further detail and starts to recall what she did and why she did it.

Great first novel by Natalie Daniels! I look forward to reading more by her in the future.

"Too Close" gripping story, a page turner. This book sums up what everyone thinks but not dare saying out loud about our life, our love our routine and what the society wants from us and the dramatic /powerful impact it can have on all of us.

A simple story of a simple family with simple life that changes from day to another.

Whilst I really enjoyed this book, I wouldn't put it in my top 20 of great reads.

The plot line was filled with sections that weren't really needed but the characters were very well written and they were easy to connect with.

This book can be hard going in places due to unnecessary additional plot lines but I would still recommend this book to my audience, I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are all my own and completely unbiased. My thanks to NetGalley for this opportunity.

Connie is in a Psychiatric hospital and she has no idea why, she has committed a terrible crime which has earnt her the nickname Yummy Monster.

At the beginning of the book, we learn about Connie's new friendship with Ness. The two women met at a park where their children were playing and realising that they were also neighbours, their friendship grew with their families more or less merging and they became inseparable.

But when Ness’s marriage ends in a bitter divorce, she is suddenly at Connie’s house all the time. It’s all too much, and Connie snaps.

Forensic Psychiatrist Emma Robinson is challenged with deciding whether or not Connie is sane enough to stand trial but she sees the softer, vulnerable side to the monster.

I loved this book - I really wanted to hate Connie but as her story unfolded I was drawn in and soon I felt sorry for this woman who was pushed to the edge.

A wonderful debut novel.

*I was given an ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest and open review

Connie Mortenson is a thoroughly modern woman. She has a career, children and a marriage that is a little stale. She meets Ness, another mother, in the park, she lives just around the corner, has a daughter the same age as Connie’s and before long they are best friends and living in each others pockets. They are in and out of each other’s homes, share holidays and their girls are also best friends.

Connie wakes up in a psychiatric hospital. She has been told that she has committed a truly awful crime, but she can’t remember anything.

We meet Dr Emma Robinson. She has been appointed as Connie’s forensic psychiatrist and needs to figure out what happened to Connie on the lead up to her being in a mental health hospital. We hear from Connie and Emma’s point of view. Seeing how similar the two woman are once you scratch the surface.

This was so much of a thriller. It was more a book about friendship, deception and mental illnesses.
However, I did enjoy the book but felt that the ending was a little rushed and disappointing.

This novel set off on a high but sadly got bogged down in dialogue. It had a great deal of potentialI but I found the jumping back and forwards confusing and sadly didn't finish it. Sorry. but this wasn’t for me.
