I was excited to read this based simply on the image on the cover but simply couldn't finish it sadly

The writer came up with an interesting plot,but it fell short for me. I just could not get into this book.

I think the author was going for grit or noir here but the attempt gets in the way of the story itself. I like all the ingredients - human "souls" in artificial bodies, etc. - but it just didn't work out for me. Too bad.
