This is a take to the beach book. It's easy-to-read, an interesting story, and because of the popularity of the author, sure to be a best seller. The story appealed to me as something a little unusual. It was interesting to follow the progress of a brain-injured child. I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the last where it seemed to lose steam for me and rely too much on a typical romance theme. There is a lot of repetition in the book which got tiring after awhile. If a point was made once, it was made a dozen times! Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable, easy read with the typical (if not realistic) happy endings for everyone.

It had been a while since I had read a Danielle Steele book. They are a bit to real and deal with a lot of serious matters.
I actually enjoyed this. Whitney and her sister see things differently and are very different even though they grew up in Hollywood and their mother was a famous actress.
Paige wanted to be famous but she didn’t have the talent so she decides to put her child in the business without ever asking her if she’s happy.
Whitney becomes a doctor but she has her fears because of how she viewed her parents marriage.
Emma is Paige’s daughter, a child actress who is involved in a serious accident that changes her life.
Emma and Whitney’s lives are changed forever. There are struggles along the way. They face a lot together and it opens Whitney’s eyes to things she had viewed a certain way.
I felt horrible for Emma. Her life is forever changed and she faces so many struggles. I was afraid for her. I didn’t know if she would come out on the positive side.
I liked that Whitney because of what happens to her niece realizes that she wants other things professionally and personally.
I was expecting for a not so happy ending but I liked the way the story wrapped up and ended. I really enjoyed the epilogue. Not a cruel story like some of Ms. Steele’s books. I would recommend this book.

Emma is a child actor on a series. Her mother Paige is a stage mother and wants Emma to have an Oscar in her future. She really doesn't allow Emma to be a child and Emma has some kind of class constantly. But one day rushing home without their seatbelts on they have a tragic accident. Whitney, Emma's aunt now is her guardian and now takes the role of parent.
I have read tons of Danielle Steele books through the years. This is one of the better ones. It reminds me of her earlier books.

Silent Night by Danielle Steel takes us to Los Angeles, California. Emma Watts is a nine year old who is the youngest cast member of the hit TV show The Clan. Emma is an intelligent child with a charming personality and a bright future ahead of her. Paige Watts is the driving force behind Emma’s career. On their way home one evening, Paige and Emma are running late for appointment with Emma’s drama coach when a terrible tragedy occurs. Dr. Whitney Watts, Emma’s aunt, rushes back to Los Angeles from Italy to be with Emma. Whitney became a psychologist after growing up in the shadow of her famous actress mother and agent father. She has never desired to marry or have children. Whitney now finds herself responsible for her niece who awakens from a coma with no memory plus she cannot hear or speak. Emma has a long road ahead of her if she is to recover from a traumatic brain injury. Whitney, with the assistance of dedicated doctors, teachers and a nurse, hopes to help Emma regain what she has lost and go forward to a bright, fulfilling future.

Silent Night is a poignant story. We get to see tragic events unfold when a person is careless with their own and a loved one’s safety while operating a car. I thought Silent Night was well-written and engaging. I sat down and read this story straight through (I wen to bed late even for me). The book had steady pacing with smooth transitions between sections. There are good, relatable characters in the story. We see how life can change in a moment and families are messy. I found Silent Night to be an emotional and heartbreaking story. We get to experience the grief Whitney and Emma go through along with handling Emma’s injury. There is good information on traumatic brain injuries in the book. Danielle Steel related the details in an easy to understand way which I appreciated. Emma’s journey is difficult as she tries to relearn all that she has lost. It is nice to see the characters grow as individuals and see this one event change the course of their lives. I like that the author provided an epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. Silent Night is a story that will touch your heart.

I love it when an author tells us a story and takes us on an emotional journey. In this book we get Whitney's story as she deals with the death of her sister and her niece's traumatic brain injuries. This storyline is heartbreakingly beautiful and I devoured every delicious page. I look forward to reading the next book by this amazing author.

4 1/2 STARS!

Gut-wrenching & raw! With her latest novel, Danielle Steel quickly takes us into the heart of a mother who pushes her young star to be all that she can be ... and more. When tragedy strikes and life as she knows it disappears, that young girl must learn to depend on the beloved aunt who is willing to move the ends of the earth to help her be able to truly live again. The story is fast paced and attention grabbing from page one. I might have liked to get a deeper connection to Paige and had a little more depth to the romance blooming, but overall, an outstanding story of courage and determination!

Psychiatrist Whitney Watts has no idea as she's traveling towards a luxurious vacation with her wealthy lover that her life is about to change irrevocably. Born into Hollywood legacy, she's always preferred to live in her own low-key bubble instead of partaking in the limelight the rest of  her family always craved.

One phone call changes her fate. There's been a horrible accident. Her sister Paige is no longer able to be the world's biggest stage mom to her talented 9 year old niece Emma. And Emma's world has just been silenced. With no memory or ability to do everyday things, this child's suddenly living in a big scary world of dark abyss.

With a mindset of love and determination, Whitney sets out to work with anyone and everyone in order to give her niece some semblance of a life again. She's willing to give up everything to make sure that little girl comes out of this as a whole person again. With months of losses blooming into newfound freedoms, friendships and more this duo turns the corner into a world of brighter days!

While I do enjoy Danielle Steel's actual stories and characters often, I am having a really tough time with her writing style. I just feel it is way too simple and seems amateur (which I know I have said before). I feel that too much is repetitive. For example, in this specific book, when introducing the two main doctors, the author describes their personalities as one being more personable and dealing better with children, while the other is more direct and does better with adults. That is great to know...once or twice; but, this fact is repeated over and over almost every time these two characters are mentioned. I do understand that she is writing to an audience that may not always be avid readers, but it is just hard for me to deal with. Sorry for the rant!
Overall, this is a nice story about a young girl in the spotlight who is involved in a tragedy that she must recover from. An aunt that never wanted her own children is forced into the parent role; but, it is a lot more complicated than even that. The characters were lovely and easy to like, so I do think that many will enjoy this title.

Emma Watts, age 9, has been a cast member of the hit series, The Clan, for years. Her mother, Paige Watts, is so proud of her. When not acting, Emma is busy with her tutor, Belinda; learning her lines; and taking dance and singing lessons. Now, Emma has been offered a part in a Broadway musical. While Emma wants to stay with the TV series, her mother will make the decision as she wants Emma to be a huge star.

Paige’s mother, Liz Winston, had been a film star so it runs in the family. Her mother had been married to Bill Watts, a big film agent. Together, they had two daughters, Paige and Whitney. Paige wanted to act but Whitney did not. Instead, Whitney has become a successful psychiatrist. Their father ran every minute of their mother’s life. Now, Whitney gets angry with Paige for running Emma’s life like their father ran their mother’s.

Neither Whitney nor Paige have ever married. Paige became pregnant with Emma when her gay friend donated sperm. He has now died. Whitney has never wanted children and her experiences with divorced men with children have not been good. However, she has met Chad Phillips, a successful man in the Silicon Valley. While he has children, they are grown. They enjoy one another’s company but have no interest in marriage.

When a car accident kills Paige and Emma suffers a severe brain injury, Whitey is the only one left to care for Emma. Even after Emma wakes up from a coma, she is damaged in many ways. Whitney stays with her every minute she can, but Emma’s future of being normal is bleak. Now Whitney, the woman who never wanted children, has the sole responsibility of Emma. But she promises her young niece that she will always be there for her.

The next weeks are very trying for both Emma as she slowly tries to adjust to her injuries and works to overcome them. Her frustration and anger are great and Whitney is her punching bag. Will Emma ever heal from her injuries and become the little girl she once was?

This is a very touching novel that takes us through the painful day-to-day steps of Emma’s struggles and Whitney’s never-ending patience with her. It makes us ever more aware that we need to fasten our seat belts and never text while driving.

Danielle Steel has once again written a fabulous book. Her characters are always strong even when sorely tested. I can’t help but their that she, herself, is a strong person who has endured many tests in her own life. Well done! I’m sure readers will love this book.

Silent Night is one of Danielle Steel’s best books yet. The way she emotionally drags you into the story is amazing.
Whitney is happy with her life and her random vacations with her boyfriend. Her mother was a famous actress and she hated all of the crazy she went through growing up. Her sister, Paige is just the opposite and wanted to be exactly like their mother. Paige did not have the talent to act and gave up trying when she had her own child . Instead she got her daughter Emma into acting at a very young age and made it her world .
Emma was on a tv show and had a very busy life and had no time for friends . Her life revolved around her acting career. One instant changed their lives forever and Paige and Emm are in a car accident that leaves Paige dead . Emma has severe injuries and Whitney is left to care for her Niece and try to put their lives back together.

I have read several of Danielle Steel`s books & have a enjoyed all of them, this is one of her best. The characters were likeable and well rounded. Anna was nine when her live changed forever. She was in a car accident which killed her mother and left her in a coma with a head injury. When she comes out of the coma she is a changed girl who has to live with her aunt Whitney. There is a lot of ups and downs and a romance with aunt Whitney. I really liked this book!! I want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book for an honesty opinion.

What a wonderful surprise this book was. Haven’t read her books in years b/c they were so predictable. This was a refreshing story! A severe brain trauma and the heartache of trying to get over it. Of course some romance along the way never hurt .

This book really touch my heart. The author has a way of doing this in her books. Its a book about love, family and heartbreak. In the path of ones life how one action can change your course of life and set you on a new direction. The loss you experience and the love you gain. Wonderful book even with the tears I shed.

A very emotional story about how life can change in the blink of an eye. This is a very heartfelt story about a young girl that suffers from traumatic brain injury and her struggle to survive. I like that the story emphasizes the dangers of texting while driving. I love the close relationship that Whitney had with her niece, Emma. This story has a wonderful message of love and sacrifice. The characters and story are very relatable. Highly recommended!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Danielle Steel can definitely write a tear jerker and this is one, so keep the tissues handy! I have read Steel's books for years and I have to say this is one of the best she's written. You will feel like you are experiencing every tragedy and every breakthrough. The characters are portrayed as if they could be your next door neighbors. Definitely put Silent Night on your TBR pile. Enjoy! 📚

Thank you, Netgalley, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is a story about a young girl named Emma, who is a child actress and her mom, Paige, who pushes her to be the best child actress, even if that means Emma can't have a normal childhood. Paige and her estranged sister, Whitney come from Hollywood royalty and with big shoes to fill, this explains why Paige pushes her daughter so hard. Whitney, unlike her sister, lives a less glamorous life outside of acting and isn't the least bit happy that Paige isn't letting Emma live a normal childhood. Then, tragedy strikes, and Emma is left with no memory, speech or hearing and is left to be raised by her childless aunt, Whitney. This story is about choices we make that end in tragedy and how to overcome them, heal, teaching us patience, love, forgiveness and above all, how to move on and follow your heart with life choices for yourself. We all can overcome tragedy with a little help from those close to us.

I have read every single one of Danielle Steele's books and this one did not disappoint!!!!!! I loved this novel and the characters so much I'm sad to see it end. You just automatically fall in love with these characters and root for them. The aunt in this book is an amazing person who changes her whole life for her niece when she needs her and the niece is so lovable. Emma is a child star in Hollywood living with her mother happily working on a TV show living the high life until a tragic accident takes her mother's life and leaves her with a severe brain injury. Her aunt Whitney is a psychiatrist who is unmarried and has no children. She is a free woman with no responsibilities except to her career and plans to keep it that way. Until a fatal accident causing her sister to die and throws her brain injured niece into her life. Whitney and Emma have to learn how to navigate their new lives together in ways neither of them are prepared for. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Ballantine Delacorte for an ARC for my honest review. I will recommend this and all of her Danielle Steele's books to everyone.

Nine year old Emma is a star on a hit television show, living the dream of her ultimate stage mom, Paige. When a tragic accident occurs, Emma’s life is horrifically changed. Now living with her Aunt Whitney, a psychiatrist, Emma has no memory and no voice. This intense novel by Danielle Steel shows readers the power of love and hope as Emma begins to find her spark again with the help of her aunt and caregivers.

Silent Night, Danielle Steel’s newest novel, teaches readers about love and hope and brain injuries. I am not sure how accurate all the information is, but I certainly felt like I learned a lot when reading. This book had a slower pace than I have come to expect from Steel, but it was a slow burn and ultimately did exactly what I was looking for and I closed the book with a smile. As always, I enjoyed this offering by Danielle Steel.

Whitney and Paige are sisters who chose very different paths in life. Paige has been a stage mom to her daughter Emma- and a really strong one. When she's killed and Emma is terribly injured, Whitney steps up. Emma doesn't have anyone else. She's mute and she's lost her memory. Whitney rearranges her entire life to help Emma, who has to figure out not only what she is but who she is. If you haven't read Steel for a while, try this. It's emotional but never trite, the characters are really well done, and it zips along while pulling at your heartstrings. There are spots that could have been better edited and tightened but I have to admit that I enjoyed it. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
