I have read many DS books over the years. Especially the early ones in the 1990's. Now I pick and choose based on the storyline. I have always loved her stories that go beyond romance and intertwine a piece of history or focus on a profession. This book hit the mark with a medical side that was facinating. The brain is an amazing thing. It was also a story about being a parent in a tough situation even if you are not biologically the parent. This book kept me interested from the beginning to the end. Thank you NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is yet in fact another great book written by one of the best. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one as I have with so many of her books in the past. This book focuses on two sisters, Whitney and Paige Watts, the daughters of a former Hollywood star, Elizabeth Winston, and Paige's daughter, Emma. Both sisters understand the challenges of growing up in Hollywood as celebrity children. Whitney wants nothing to do with it. She dedicates her life to medicine while Paige lives out her dreams through her 9 year old daughter, the lead actress on a televised show. Life is perfect for them all until unexpected turn of events.

Ms. Steele an amazing job with making me feel as though I were actually a part of this book. All of the characters and challenges they faced were so real and captivating that I could not stop reading it until the very end. Thank you for another great read. I am truly honored to post this review and hope others will find it as fascinating as I did!

Silent Night by Danielle Steel is a standalone novel that is a bit different then her usual trademark romantic stories. Yes it has a little of romance, but it is the story of family, tragedy, love and life changing events. Silent Night was a wonderful and very emotional story.

Paige and Whitney Watts are sisters, and very much different, as their mother was a famous actress. Paige loves the spotlight, and since she could not get her own career started, she lives through her daughter, Emma, who has become a popular young actress on a television show; she has become the ultimate stage mother. Whitney is the opposite, as she is a psychiatrist, who loves her work, and enjoys life with her wealthy boyfriend, but frowns on how Paige pushes Emma to the spotlight.

One night everything changes when a tragic accident kills Paige, and severely injures Emma. Being the next of kin, Whitney is contacted while on vacation in Italy, and drops everything to rush home to be with her niece. What she finds at the hospital is that Emma has serious brain damage in the frontal lobe, and is in a semi coma. Whitney will change her life to take care of Emma, and help her recover from the serious damage she had to her brain. Emma at 9 years old, will come out of the coma, unable to remember, or talk (she talks gibberish) and has a hard time overall with understanding and mobility. This is very emotional story, as we watch Whitney and Emma struggle through life and the determination to rise above the terrible effects and pain surrounding them now. I really loved Whitney, as she loved her niece and was willing to change her life to become the caregiver for Emma. It was sad to watch Emma, unable to cope with her inability to talk, and the ensuing violence, when her anger took control. Whitney persevered and brought in specialists to work with Emma. There is a slow built romance between Whitney and Dr. Bailey (he was one of her doctors), as they spent a lot of time together during their struggle to help Emma.

I really enjoyed Silent Night, which was an emotional and heartbreaking story line. Both Whitney and Emma were wonderful characters that had us emotionally pulled into their lives. I do not want to give spoilers, but I will say that Silent Night was a different type of read for me from Danielle Steel; but it was a great story. Once again Danielle Steele blows it out of the park. I wholly suggest you read Silent Night.

I have always loved Danielle Steel and this book was no exception.. This one had a personal feel to it that I loved. A tragic accident, a long recovery for a 10 yr old girl, and romance, all combine to make this a great read.

I loved Silent Night. It is one of the best Danielle Steel books that I have read. She definitely did her research on traumatic brain injuries. This storyline will capture your heart. I loved the ending!

I can honestly say that I have never read a book by Danielle Steel that does not deliver everything I want from a read. Well, Silent Night is no exception. What a great read!

Emma is a young girl that has made a good way for herself being a child actor on a hit show. Paige, Emma's mom, is the only person besides her Aunt Whitney in her life because her mom decided to use a donor. The donor didn't want to be in her life and ended up dying young so Emma never even knew him. Paige is determined to have Emma make it as an actor, just like her own mother did. The only thing is, Paige never really asked Emma what she wanted to do and with her being so young, Emma has to do what her mom wants her to do,

Everything seems to be going along smoothly and good for Paige and Emma until one day they are running from one place to another with all the activities Paige has Emma doing. Paige has always been an advocate about wearing seat belts but this one time they did not put them on. While Paige was trying to send a text that they were running late to Emma's acting coach, Emma told her not to text and drive and then the unthinkable happens. Paige and Emma's lives are changed forever.

Whitney is a psychiatrist and loves her niece very much. She had just gotten to a yacht to spend time with her then boyfriend when she notices that she has a lot of missed calls. Whitney finally gets to where she can answer her messages and realizes that something bad has happened. What is she going to do now? There is only one thing for her to do and that is to rush to Emma's side.

Danielle Steele always knows how to pull at your heart strings with the topics that she faces head-on in her books. I love her writing and how it is always something different that you don't expect with her stories. I can't wait to read more of her books in the near future! This is one you won't be able to put down!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a copy of this book.

I can't even say how much I enjoyed this book. The pains that Whitney went through to help her niece recover and poor Emma who had such a trial to get through. It was extremely interesting to see all the steps that a brain injury went through to recover. As scared as Emma was every step of the way to try and accomplish something new, she was very brave and was determined to succeed. I laughed out loud at the tap lesson. Very funny.

I got this book from NetGalley for an honest review and this was a very very good Danelle Steel story

I have not read a Danielle Steel book in a long time, but this one is very, very good.

Emma is a 9 year old child star on a very likeable TV Drama. Her Mother, Paige is a Stage Mom that keeps her in the show and takes her to acting classes, tap, hip-hop, ballet and voice classes.

They are on the way home to meet with her Voice Coach when the accident happened. They were running late so Paige decided to text the Voice Coach to let him know they are on the way. She was busy texting and did not see the truck coming at them. The accident killed Paige and gave Emma a serious Brain Concussion. She was in a coma for a long time.

They only had one relative to help with Emma. Whitney was Paige's older sister and at the time of the accident she was on her way to a vacation on a boat with her friend, Chad.

They did not know how to reach Whitney so the police had to wait until she was able to put on her cell phone. She rushed back to the states and found out that her sister was dead and Emma was in a coma.

Whitney does not have children and is not married and suddenly she is responsible for Emma. She takes on this job. But she has to put her profession on hold. She is a doctor.

The story follows their path to recovery and it is a long journey but Whitney is up to the job. The book is well written and the story kept my interest until the end.

It made me cry, laugh, and I learned a lot about Brain injuries. It is well worth the time to read. I will recommend it to all of my friends. Five Star rating!

This is a classic Danielle Steel book . This was such a good story, albeit predictable.
Hollywood child actress Emma is in a devastating accident and suffers a traumatic brain injury.
Her aunt Whitney is all that she has left in her family to care for her.
Whitney needs Emma as much as Emma needs Whitney. A powerful story about love and determination against all odds.

This is a wonderfully written sweet, poignant story. There are no great surprises, but if you like her standard tried and true format than you will absolutely love this one. She creates characters that you immediately want to see succeed, be their friends, see them happy and want to overcome all that ails them.

Two sisters who are so very different both love one sweet little girl with every fiber of their being. Paige, who failed to reach iconic star status on screen instead became the stage mom who lived through her child. Sadly her relentless drive became her ultimate downfall and almost that of her wonderful little girl Emma. Whitney, who grew up in the shadow of their “industry” parents could not get away fast enough and though she loved her sister, did not agree with her actions towards Emma. She saw what stardom could do and believed her mom died so very young as a result of it even if it was not her actual diagnosis. She did not want that for Emma and as a result of her upbringing decided love and children were not for her. EVER. A terrible accident early is a compelling backdrop for the wonderful growth, healing and love that is to come. Emma is so very lucky that Whitney was able both emotionally and financially to take such great care of her.
There is a certain formula to Danielle Steel books so in the hands of a less talented author could be boring. This is not at all. Not any major surprises, but a lovely read with a wonderful happily ever after. Enjoy the read.

Danelle Steel brings us another women’s fiction in Silent Night. I was immersed in the characters and the emphasis on how one bad decision can affect many lives forever. However, there was a lot of unnecessary repetition and predictability.

This is one of my favorite Danielle Steel books, certainly one of my favorite most recent ones! I used to be a die-hard DS fan, reading every new release as soon as it came out. In time, I went a different direction with what I was drawn to read, and I went a lot of years without picking up a Danielle Steel book. This one makes me want to go back and read every single book I missed. I loved every one of the characters, and the evolution of Whitney and Emma's relationship throughout Emma's recovery was really well-written. The PSA message surrounding the accident felt a bit preachy at times, but in fairness, it's an important message. The overarching theme here was relationships - the good, the bad, the ability to grow and evolve and learn from the past. Overall, this was a great chick lit book and a wonderful example of what Danielle Steel can do.

Loved this book! Whenever I read a Danielle Steel book I know I will laugh, cry and become a part of the story. Here characters become dear friends and some enemies. It becomes hard to know what is real life and what is fiction because she draws you in. I have been reading Ms. Steel for over 35 years and I look forward to every story she has to tell.

A solid 4 star read. A compelling story that kept me turning pages. I thoroughly enjoyed Danielle Steels latest novel, Silent Night. The cast of characters were endearing, their stories engaging and at times, heart breaking. Silent Night teaches us that true love, romantic or familial can happen at any strange in life.

Another good Danielle Steele book with an interesting plot line, likable characters and emotional depth. My only reason for 4 start and not 5, is that I thought the middle of the book became quite redundant with Whitney always explaining traumatic brain injuries and her indecision with Bailey. But otherwise a great read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book in return for my opinions.

First, I've read almost every DS novel there is. Some have been amazing and have stayed with me for years. Others, I get frustrated because it feels as though the originality is gone. This one is somewhere in the middle.

I liked the premise. Whitney's life is turned upside down when her sister and niece are in a deadly car crash. Whitney is left to raise Emma, and deal with the life altering changes due to the accident. I felt the characters were good, and stood up on their own. There was more depth than the last few DS novels I've read (looking at you, Fairytale!) but the novel was still plagued by some of the same problems--repetition, whole sections of story that weren't needed, and tired descriptions of characters that seem to be in every DS novel.

Still, this was a very quick read. i was able to sink in the story. It's a page turner. All in all, not bad.
