Bloodline: Tracing God's Rescue Plan From Genesis to Eternity by Skip Heitzig focuses heavily on atonement through sacrifice. Early on, he mostly explains the Jewish traditions surrounding animal sacrifice as he leads the reader up to the book of Revelation. He pulls verses out that fit with his thesis, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you view the verses that he chooses to use.

I don't agree with the conclusions that Heitzig reaches, because his views heavily imply that the only way that God could redeem humanity is through violence, in this case the death of Jesus. And Heitzig spends a lot of time justifying Jesus' death as the ultimate tool of redemption, and also states in a later chapter that the only way that Jesus could have been the one was if he was born of a virgin.

It was okay, but I'll be honest, I got bored maybe about halfway through.

Would you like to get to know the story of redemption better? "the atonement is the scarlet cord running through every page in the entire Bible”; it “is red with redemption truth.” If you follow the red cord you fill find beautiful pieces of history God intended for us to be saved. Every piece of history we see how God designed it all to redem us, from Eden to eternity.

As a Christian and as a Sunday School teacher, Skip Heitzig has been an invaluable teacher, preacher and theologian. I listen to his incisive, clear preaching online and in my satellite radio.
Many years ago, W.A. Criswell, wrote a book titled, "The Scarlet Thread Through the Bible." It tells the story of our redemption from Genesis to Revelation.
Skip Britain's book "Bloodline," tells the same story of redemption. From the book, Skip writes, "The great Bible teacher of yesteryear, William Evans, noted, “Cut the Bible anywhere and it bleeds.” The blood of Jesus stains every page, every book, in both testaments. Evans observed that “the atonement is the scarlet cord running through every page in the entire Bible”; it “is red with redemption truth.”
Skip takes us book by book in both the Old and New Testament and shows us in God' Word the truth that the cross and perfect Sacrifice and the shedding of innocent blood was God's plan even before the foundations of the world.
The Bible teaches us that, "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin."
In Bloodline, Skip in a clear and easy to understand way, shows us that the shedding of blood was always in both the Old and New Testament God' plan of redemption for us, the sin payment.
You may know these truths but we need to remember the high cost of our salvation and this book will bless and benefit both pastors, lay people and those seeking life changing answers.

This book takes you on a journey of the Bible to show you how each book of the Bible points to the history of the human race, of God’s chosen people, the Jews, and how all of this has brought mankind to the crossroads of faith in Jesus.
From the beginning of the world, the evil one has tried to destroy mankind so that Jesus would not be able to come and redeem mankind from sin.
You will see how God has used the slavery of His people, the Jews, the Law, the blood sacrifices, and prophecy to lead people to faith in his Messiah, Jesus.
You will learn why each book of the Old and New Testament leads to God’s redemption of His people and later on, the Gentile nations.
