Resilient Heart. This was yet another new-to-me Lake Union Publishing author, and yet again Greene writes a fantastic tale of heartbreak and mending. As a solo story, the book feels complete while leaving the possibility of a follow on open without being overly blatant in actually setting it up - which is appreciated. As the opening tale of a series, as the "Book 1" tag blatantly suggests itself, this book works well in creating a world that I would love to revisit. And as an introduction to Greene and her writing, this book is well crafted and instills a desire to see what else she has to offer, in the best possible sense of the term. Whether you're new to Greene or not, pick this book up and you'll find a worthy friend.

At 14 Kara's mother left, left her, left her husband, left the family. After, six years of marriage, Kara survived a horrendous auto accident, but her husband died. It would seem Kara was always picking up the pieces, pieces of her life. Her life was an emotional struggle, with answers to questions only her father could give her. Then only too suddenly he was also gone. Now Kara had only the old house and gardens her father had recently purchased. In a field surrounded by wildflowers, they were, it seemed there for her to find solace in.
This novel was indeed an emotional one, sad on many levels, yet I did enjoy it. The first book in a series, it left me wanting to know more, to know what the next chapters in her life would be.

My thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wildflower Heart by Grace Green is a book that will tug at your heartstrings and you will not forget it. Grace Green had me hooked from page one. This is a heartbreaking story but in the end will give you the warm fuzzies. This is another one of those can’t put me down type of books. I could not turn the pages quick enough. The main character Kara keeps getting knocked down but like a wildflower she is resilient and gets right back up again. This book has loss and grief but shows you growth strength and resilience. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. Definite must read book.

Kara Hart has lost her mother and now her husband and unborn child in an accident. She has lost all interest in life, there seems to be no point in going forward. Her father is her one last bastion of comfort, so she accompanies him to Virginia, where he is preparing to restore an old Victorian home. While her stay with her father was supposed to be temporary, Kara finds herself getting closer to her father, as he shared stories about Kara’s mother and his own past. Just when she feels she has gotten her footing, yet another tragedy pulls the rug out from under her again. Kara must decide if she will retreat back inside her shell, or if she has the courage to continue on with the new life she has just started to build. This is a moving novel about seemingly insurmountable loss and the resilience of the human spirit

Thank you Netgalley and Grace Greene for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

From a young age, Kara struggled with losing her mother, first when she left, and secondly when she died. Her father, Henry, did the best that he could. The pair grew older and has most paths dictate, Kara left for college and then onto marriage. Henry continued living his life, running a successful tire business.

The two are reunited when tragedy strikes again. Kara and her husband, Niles, were in a terrible car accident. Kara lived, Niles didn't, and neither did their unborn child. Henry, of course, stepped up to take care of his daughter and help her heal, both mentally and physically.

Kara is surprised when her father reveals that he is selling the business and the house, and moving to the country. She is even more surprised when she sees the "country house" is far bigger than her father needs. After all, she should be returning to her real life, now that most of her wounds have healed. But, there is something about the "Wildflower House" that soothes Kara's damaged heart...she's not sure that she's ready to leave, and well her father needs her help.

This book is filled with emotion, heartache, grief, healing, and perhaps love. Secrets are revealed, relationships end, and new ones begin... The writing is flowing and you can imagine what it must be like to be at the Wildflower House, and even more so what the Wildflower House could be with a little hard work and imagination.

"Nothing is perfect - not the past, not ourselves and not our present."

Grace Greene has brought her readers a heart wrenching story that is full of despair, hope and recovery. You will feel a gamut of emotions - laughter to tears (I can almost guarantee the tears) but the overall feeling of the novel is healing and resilience.

Kara's life has been filled with loss. Her mother left when she was 14. Her father was a stoic man who worked to take care of her but seldom spent any real time with her. And then after a catastrophic event, she lost even more of her life. As she is recovering, her father decides to buy a dilapidated mansion in the country and she reluctantly decides to move with him to help with the renovations. When she finds the field of wildflowers behind the house, she is stunned and her soul is revived at their beauty. As she tries to find her way back to a new normal with the help of her dad and her best friend, she has new road blocks to overcome. Will she be able to find a way to overcome her fears and find her way to a fulfilling life?

This is a beautiful story with a well written character who is learning to recover from pain and loss and find her place in life. I'd like to read more about Kara in future books.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were very real to life and the story
had a little bit of everything so good for a number of readers across genre's.
I like the concept of multiple chances in life we must all continue to move
on and evolve and be the best us we can be and this book gives a sense
of that with the main character Kara. My only disappointment was when
finished I wanted more and want to know what happens next as I still have
questions (I read a book a day so I often want more to a story:) I was very
happy to find out from the Author that there will be at least 1 more book in
this series (I hope more!). I think any one who reads this will enjoy it and
take the journey with Kara and the other cast of characters.

I don't know how Grace Greene does it, but I am a huge fan. How does she take a book so full of grief, sadness, loss trials & tribulations and leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling and totally uplifted ? She has a gift for sure. From page one you are sucked in and will not be able to put it down. It is beautifully written and she describes the scenery so that you can actually picture it. This book will make you cry but it will also make you smile & laugh. I loved every character in this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series. No matter how much praise I give to this book, it will not do it justice. You need to read it for yourself to experience. Highly recommend this book !

Wildflower Heart is the journey of Kara coming to terms with all in her life. She is broken and finding her way in her new life. I loved how the story unfolded and cannot wait to read what happens next. A wonderful start to a new series! Thank you Grace Greene and Net Galley for the chance to read this beautifully written book!

This is the 1st book in the Wildflower Series by Grace Green. Devastation and heartbreak are not supposed to be beautiful and hopeful, however, Grace's amazing words guide you through the life of Kara and her Father Henry and leave you with a hopeful feeling for the future.

I have to say this book is one of the best books I have ever read. I felt a plethora of emotions throughout this story and couldnt put the books down because I needed to know what would happen. I am highly anticipating the second book the Wildflower Series, Wildflower Hope.

Wildflower Hearts by Grace Greene
I advanced reader copy of this book for my review.
ThAt said this was an excellent story of loss and grief, but evolves into a book about strength and growth and how to realize and change your assumptions and basic life as you knew it.
Great book and I would highly recommend it!

"Neglect wasn't supposed to be beautiful". Those were Kara's thoughts when she discovers a field of wildflowers and to me, was a profound statement in this book of self-discovery. Kara herself had been neglected....by a mother who left her when she was young, by a father who provided for her but was unable to provide emotional support, by a husband who had ceased to love her. The pages of this book are filled with intense feelings, as we watch Kara work through them all....sadness, hurt, betrayal...until she can find her way to love, acceptance, and beauty. The most memorable scenes to me are the moments when Kara finds joy amid the despair, the rare glimmers we get of hope as she slowly learns to trust and open her heart to possibilities. This book captivated my heart with its imperfect characters as they swayed and bent with the challenges that they faced, like the wildflowers in the field behind Kara's home. "Wildflowers are tough. They root in unlikely, often hostile environments, yet the manage to grow and bloom."

People have a way of developing ideas and beliefs of themselves and others than may not actually be accurate. We wrap ourselves in cocoons that make us believe what we want to believe as true and accurate and do so to keep ourselves safe or so we think, without sometimes having to face the reality of the truth. Kara has been surrounded by tragedy and when a tragic accident takes the life of her husband and unborn child she returns to her one safe haven, her father. While recovering from the accident, Kara begins to find out things about her mother, her father and herself she didn’t know or understand. Her father buys a dilapidated old mansion in the country and Kara is taken by the wildflowers growing in the backyard. As time goes on she makes new friends and starts to understand and see things in herself and those around her that will transform her just like the wildflowers transform through the seasons.

Grace Greene has written a beautiful and poignant story that had this reader reflecting on how I view certain things. The imagery and feeling the story provoked runs the reader through a gamut of emotions and leaves ready for the story in the series.

I truly enjoyed this book. I recommend any of Grace Greene’s books highly. If you haven’t read any of them this would not be a bad book to start with.

When Kara was 14 her mother walked out on her and her father and abandoned them. Her father did the best he could but he did not have the emotional makeup to be a good emotional support. Years later Kara is driving one night and there is a horrific accident. Kara again finds herself dependent on her father. Emotionally her father is not there but together they make it. Kara's father retires and they move to a rural area of Virginia. Kara is not as happy about her father's dream home as he is but agrees to help him with the house until she goes back to work. Kara falls in love with the wildflowers in the backyard and the area near the creek. Kara finds out that her father has secrets that she knows nothing about. He has good friends in the area and they soon offer their friendship to her. The wildflowers represent many things to Kara and as such, she is protective of them. Lovely story of healing, changing, trusting and love.

I am so happy this is part of a new series because it gives me hope that the story will continue. This is definitely a page-turner that got me hooked from the first page and I didn't stop reading until it ended.
I loved that the events are not entirely predictable, and even if the outcome is sometimes heartbreaking it only makes the story more real. Kara is a beautiful character and, just like a wildflower, her resilience helps her manage the "unlikely, often hostile environments"

A beautiful heartfelt story that reminds the reader of the importance of loving family and friends. Past mistakes can bring sorrow to life, if we don't move on. In this touching story, the characters each have their own way of handling situations. This author continues to write stories that reach deep down in my soul. Great read. I received a copy of this book and this is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.

I absolutely loved the book. Kara has had her share of loss, her life has not been perfect , and she’s been knocked down many times , she continues to get back on her feet, a little slower each time but she is resilient! I loved her and found her to have such inner strength and so much inside of her to give .
When you read this book you can smell the flowers, hear the creek running and sit on the porch with the characters
Grace Greene has such a wonderful style of writing and I’ve been a fan a while ,but this book is her at her best!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series !

This is a heart wrenching story of loss and grief. It is about putting one foot in front of the other until you are strong enough to walk again. It is about finding your way through loss. It is about strength and resilience and learning to love yourself. This book captured me heart and soul. I fell into its pages. I was absorbed by its words. Kara has known such loss. Can she move forward again? The characters are richly woven into the fabric of this story. I laughed and I cried. This book moved me. Grace Greene is a superb storyteller. I could see the wildflowers and smell the rain. This is the first book in her Wildflower series and I can't wait for the next one. Absolutely exquisite read. My favorite quote: "Some moments marked our lives, like rings on a tree. They betrayed our history--parts of our history that marked us permanently. Those marks might fade over time but would never go away entirely." Highly recommended read.

Wildflower Heart....a story about Kara and the pieces of her life.... broken, lost, and missing after a devastating admission from her husband and then in the aftermath of a tragedy. Grace Greene used wildflowers to weave a story about a hurting, confused and uncertain woman and how life is like a wildflower. "Wildflowers are tough...….wildflowers are fragile.....wildflowers grow where the seeds find themselves.....wildflowers are beautiful for a season."
This book has a beautiful message about resilience and picking up when life can seem to be too heavy to endure. I love the character of Kara. She was someone I wanted to reach out to and be there for. My heart ached for the things she was going through. How tough life seemed to get and bending her over to almost breaking. But, like a wildflower she would lift herself back up and face what was ahead. There was a passage about Kara thinking, "I was a lot like those wildflowers. Accidental. Hapless. But strong and resilient once I dug in."
Ms. Greene took me into a setting that was brought to life in her descriptive words. I was in the wildflower field feeling the way Kara was feeling. The light breeze, the warm sunshine, the colorful flowers swaying in the wind, the bubbling brook along the edge of the field, an old house and the musty, peeling wallpaper. So much imagery in written words. I appreciate that I could "see" so much in my mind from her storytelling talent. She puts all of that together into a story that had me turning the pages long into the night. It's a beautiful first book in the Wildflower House series. I am so looking forward to the second book.
I want to thank Grace Greene and Netgalley for the honor and opportunity to read this wonderfully touching book. I highly recommend it and it is a five star story for sure!
