I love this one. Risky Play is a fun read. I love the sassy stubbornness of Mackenzie. Even Slade's jackassory was cute. Mackenzie is looking for changes, a partner. Slade is just trying to get by and doesn't trust easily. You can feel the instant these two meet that Slade and Mackenzie are made for each other. I love the fight between them and the second chance they take. Slade will steal your heart before you even notice he has. I loved Risky Play and I can't wait for the next one. This is a fun sport romance that you will want to one click.

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. Actual rating 4.5 stars. First let me start off with any time I see a Rachel Van Dyken book I have to read it. I love the way that Rachel writes real characters, who are not perfect, but are flawed. This book is no different. This book follows Mackenzie and Slade who have a one night stand in Mexico. Through a series of events Mackenzie becomes the personal assistant to Slade. This book reminded me of one of Rachel's other books Fraternize as the way it was a sport rom-com. I don't watch soccer, but the way Rachel writes it you understand why it is so important to Slade. There is drama in this story, but the drama doesn't overpower the comedy or romance which I liked. Overall, I did really enjoy this book and I could completely relate to Mackenzie on a couple of different levels. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This was Pure entertainment. Everything about this was so enjoyable. What’s not to love ? It had everything you could ask for some hot soccer guys ,somewhat enemy to lover ,broken bride ,cheating exes ,navigating new lives , hilarious one liners and some serious swoon! Now that’s a romance . This is one you should definitely grab . Bonus we have a bulldog !

Rachel Van Dyken…..Girl, I believe this is my new fav read by you!!! I fell sooo hard for this book!!
I had soo many Laugh out Loud moments while reading!!!

Mackenzie was running away from a failed engagement. Slade was running away from a crappy relationship and a much needed break from his team.

"Are we going to die?

Ohhh goodness y'all, what would you do if you thought you were about to die?? Maybe kiss a complete stranger that you were having a nice talk with on a plane that you were totally attracted to??

Well that is just what Mackenzie did. She kissed Slade. On that plane. That she thought she was about to die on. She had no idea who he was, and he had no idea who she was either.

Fast forward a bit..lol Well you know the plane didn't go down..cuz that would be the shortest book ever..haha Anyway, since Slade and Mackenzie had this near death experience, they decided to hang out for the evening. One thing lead to another and you think all is right in the world. Nope, Slade ends up leaving in the middle of the night, no message, no calls, no nothing. Mackenzie was sooo heartbroken. She thought what they had experienced was special. Well guess not.

Sooo do you believe in fate? What about two times with the same person? Yupp, you guessed it. These two meet again under very different circumstances and ohhh LAWD, they don't seem to hit it off as lovey-dovey as before...lol Yeaahhh this is where my review will end. You will have to pick this lovely read up on release day and find out what the heck happened with these two and why Slade flew off in the middle of the night that night. Can Mackenzie ever forgive him??

5 Shining Stars for Risky Play from me!!! Y'all I Loved it sooo much!!!

Risky Play is the best kind of revenge. It's karma without help. It's just desserts. It's a full circle complete with black eye. So I'm short it's a smile inducing second chance love story with an arrogant soccer star and an heiress. It's a chance to breath and a chance to live.

With jokes, snark, and one liners that keep you on your toes, RVD brings the funny back. Enjoy Risky Play because I have a feeling soccer is going to only get sexier...(The season/series is just beginning!)

This was a great fun read. Mackenzie is left at the alter and Slade had been cheated on my his fiancé. They end up sitting next to each other on a plane and the story is born. It was touching how they brought out the best in each other. Another great romantic comedy by Rachel Van Dyken!

I absolutely loved this book. I'm a huge fan of Rachel's because I've never read a book of hers I havent loved. It had adventure, loss, love/hate, suspense and loveable characters. Mack was a strong independent woman who had went thru a horrible breakup in the most embarrassing way but she decided to start doing things she wanted to like a trip, new job and Slade. Slade was a famously known player who went thru something that totally changed his life and he didnt handle it well. I loved both characters and together they were perfect. I strongly recommend this book.

This is the RVD I love! She’s so great with giving us two men to swoon over and I love the witty banter and crazy making thoughts. The only issue I had that notched it down a half is the whole virgin thing. I’m so over virgins but at lease she had her own millions so that was a great point!

She’s off to the tropics for rejuvenation and a little R&R after being jilted and shamed.

He’s looking for peace with out a flashbulb.

A vacation fling, sounds pretty great until it’s not.

A love the character dynamic, Slade is the epitome of hot soccer player and I don’t even like soccer but I’d watch him. There’s the perfect amount of angst and drama combined with many laughs and smiles plus Mack is strong and demure all at the same time. Once she finds her spine, I love her take no crap attitude!

A flirty, fun, enjoyable read!

I was introduced to RVD with The Matchmaker's Playbook which I won here on Goodreads. I was on a business trip and it was a fun book to keep me company during the lulls. Unfortunately, I haven't read anything from her that worked. I mean, I can't even pick up the sequel to Dirty Exes because the 1st was just too much "uck" to even get through.

Risky Play captures some of the fun from Wingmen Inc. series. There's certainly some of the same alpha male qualities and all the side guy characters are most surely gonna be a spin-off and play out similarly to the other Wingmen books. I just hope RVD can keep the quality up.

I have read several of Rachel Van Dyken books, and I generally really like them, and likewise with this one. It was a very enjoyable read, and I got sucked into it pretty quickly . It's both sweet, romantic and with characters with great chemistry, making them easy to want to follow.

Mackenzie was great, just great! She might have been described as having been a "pleaser" before the start of the book, but she certainly isn't anymore. She truly stuck up for herself.

Slade was mostly an ass throughout the book, and his single redeeming quality was that he was so ridiculously in love with Mackenzie. But I guess that's all you need. 😉

I normally really love reading the romance stories by this author and this book I was really looking forward to, it had everything that i've come to expect from Rachel's storytelling apart from one thing that really annoyed me, and that is the over annoying hero in this book and how the heroine gives into him far to easily. Slade is a complete ass to Mack and yes it was quite endearing how she never gave up on him but it also made her seem a little too needy and desperate at times. This book would have been a 5 star read for me otherwise as I liked the plotline. If only Slade had been a little less mean and moody and had had to work at getting Mack to want him again before she fell into his arms with very little resistance. I just wanted Mack to have a little more fire in her personality. Having said all that I still very much enjoyed the story as the writing was very good and the story flowed well it just wasn't one where I was blown away by it's leading couple. The star of the story for me is Alfie, he was absolutely adorable, and you will love his funny little personality.

It took me a few pages to get into this book but once I did I didn't want to put it down. This book seems to have it all, it was sad, exciting, sexy, thought provoking and funny. Mackenzie and Slade had great chemistry and I loved the way she stuck up for herself when he was being a jackass! I also enjoyed the family dynamic with Mackenzie and her father and how they respond to outside forces. I hope we get books for Jagger and Matt too! #RiskyPlay

Funny, irreverent, and yet surprisingly sweet. Those words all describe Risky Play. Slate and Mackenzie met on a plane, but neither recognized the other, despite the fact that both had recently been tabloid fodder. They really fell in love before either was emotionally ready for it, so naturally all kinds of obstacles blocked their way for a time. Fortunately, for them ane us, they eventually found their way!

"What one thing do you regret?"

This insta-love story is beautifully written. Slade and MacKenzie balance each other perfectly. Slade learns and grows so much and Mack is one of the strongest heroines I've read. So many take her patience and grace as weakness but I believe she is brave and kind. Sometimes just being there for someone who needs you but doesn't know it yet can make all the difference.

This story is full of new beginnings and was a pleasure to read!

**An ARC was provided by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

I am a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken and always read whatever she publishes. This book was very entertaining and had me invested in the characters. It was sweet, romantic, funny, and even thoughtful at times. The H & h each had their own baggage to overcome. This book was a great read with characters I fell in love with. I am looking forward to reading more in this series!

4 stars

I absolutely enjoyed this book and a great start to Author Rachel Van Dyken's new series Red Card. We venture into the sports field with this one. I did not know alot about soccer but think I do now.

Mackenzie thought she had it all; great job, supportive family and a loving fiance until she is left at the alter on her wedding day. She can not seem to understand how he could do such a thing to her. But after trying to get on with her life, she knows she just needs to get away for a few days to find herself again.

Slade is that guy, the star athlete that has becomes famous in his sport, supportive family and any chick he wants. But once in awhile you just want to be you. Not all of the labels that are placed on you. So a much needed vacation is exactly what Slade needs.

A chance encounter between Mackenzie and Slade will turn their worlds upside down if only for the weekend. When faced with the chance of death, you take the chance. You face death head on. Both Mackenzie and Slade will be forced to face demons once they return to their lives but life has a way of coming full circle.

The banner between Slade and Mackenzie had me laughing out loud at how easily their relationship was. They were meant for each other. But can they both put the past behind them and move forward together?

Blurb:
Even one-night stands deserve a second chance in New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken’s novel of sporting desire.
What else can a virgin do when she’s ditched at the altar? Seattle heiress Mackenzie Dupont is treating herself to a single-girl honeymoon in Mexico and a desire to relinquish her innocence to a gorgeous one-night stand. Fake names. True pleasure. But when she wakes up alone, Mackenzie realizes just how much anger is left in her broken heart.
Suffering a tragic personal loss, pro soccer player Slade Rodriguez has his reasons for vanishing without a goodbye. Right or wrong, he’s blaming the beautiful and infuriating stranger he never wants to see again. They’re both in for a shock when Mackenzie shows up as his new personal assistant. And they both have a lot to learn about each other. Because they share more than they could possibly know, including a common enemy who’s playing his own games. And he’s not afraid to get dirty.
Now there’s only one way Mackenzie and Slade can win: to trust in each other and to stop hiding from the lies they’ve told, the secrets they’ve kept, the mistakes they’ve made, and the attraction that still burns between them.

Review, spoilers!!!:
Mack just wants to belong….
After being left at the altar by her fiancé, Mack goes on their honeymoon trip. On the plane she meets a gorgeous man. They kiss when she thinks they`re going to die. They end up at the same resort and they have a one-night stand. It was supposed to be a holiday affair, but Slade gets horrible news and bails.
Back home Mack gets another job, she doesn`t want to work with her ex. She ends up working for Slade, who is a total idiot to her. They end up spending time together and slowly fall for each other, she begins to see the sweet side to Slade again.
Jagger, Astons friends (Mack`s ex), also is interested in Mack. He is a fellow soccerplayer like Slade. They can`t stand each other because of something that happened in the past.
Mack and Slade eventually get together, but trouble finds them. Will they make it?

What I liked:
The UST nomnom I love that! Slade is a cutie except for the beginning after their one-night stand, which wasn`t supposed to be a one-night stand.
That man totally went all Alpha a couple of times…. Swoon. Especially when his ex talked about Mack.
Jagger and Matt, I hope they get their own book.

What I didn`t like:
Slade being a jerk in the beginning. And those SOB exes. But they made for a great story.

Favourite quote/lines in book:
“You`re fooling no one. I know what you want. But she`s mine.”
