In Her Sights is the first in the Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters series. Molly and her four sisters run a bounty hunter business. When their Mom gets in trouble and jumps bail, they’re on the case. Fast paced action from the start had me quickly turning the pages. Molly & John’s chemistry leaps of the pages. If In Her Sights is any indication of the series, the rest will be fantastic. Just one more reason that I’m a Katie Ruggle fan for life!

As the caretaker of a dysfunctional family, Molly Pax handles it all: her sisters, the her manipulative mother and the very annoying (but hot) John Carmondy who can’t seem to leave her alone even though they’re both career-rivals.

I didn’t know what to expect from Katie Ruggle’s new series—my experience with Ruggles’s writing has been varied—but bounty hunting sisters finding their HEA sounded like a unique-enough premise to branch out from her Rocky Mountain books.

There was more quirk and light-heartedness than I thought for an RS book and much of the drama—to my disappointment—for at least halfway, dealt with the Pax sisters’ panic about their mother’s shenanigans and the fear of losing their house as John played a longing, moony sidekick role at the fringe. I started skimming a lot as the investigation went seemingly in circles and Molly/John’s relationship development felt more like a slow burn that had me struggling to keep my interest up. That there wasn’t a point in time I wanted to re-read what I’d missed was probably a warning red flag hoisted high about my boredom levels.

The bottomline is, I wish I were more excited about the start of Ruggle’s new series. I do like Ruggle’s writing style and her protagonists by and large (which is why I do keep coming back to her books from time to time) but the plot however, wasn’t just something I could be enthusiastic about in this mild enemies-to-lovers type story. It’s also more romantic-suspense-lite and strangely more family-friendly, so ‘In Her Sights’ is probably a book more suited to those who prefer to keep just their toes in the genre.

This was awesome, absolutely loved the sisters. Well written, good chemistry and loved the story line. Can't wait for the next one.

With this new series, I give Katie Ruggle credit for a fine premise for a series and a very likable canine character. The rest was mostly a disappointment, especially after seeing what she Is capable of in the Rocky Mountain Rsecue series. Romantic suspense ought to shine in both the romance and suspense categories. The suspense plot was not bad: family of bounty hunting sisters is done wrong by mother and goes after dangerous fugitive to try to save the home their thieving mother put up as bond collateral before she vanished. The romance was weak, a little silly, really. The guy, a competing bounty hunter, is hot and likable enough. Lovable, even. His motivation for regularly encountering Molly, the oldest of the sisters, is clear enough. Molly, an otherwise competent individual, is emotionally dense about why he always seems to be where she is. Then in the space of a few days, she goes from finding him an annoying irritation to being head over heels over the man.. Too much time was spent inside her (dense) head questioning John’s actions. Then once she sees the light, too much time is spent inside her head thinking about how far gone she is over him. In summary: a decent plot concept, weak romance development. Then the novel ends without much closure. Stay tuned for the next installment.

I absolutely adored this book. I am a Katie Ruggle fan to begin with, but she has set up this series to probably be my favorite. Molly is a sassy female lead in this book with the anticipation of her sisters to come. John is a sweet alpha male lead that lets Molly do her thing but has her back. The chemistry between the two was great. Like I said, I can't wait for the rest of the series.

I was hooked right from the start when I found out that this book was about five bounty hunting sisters who do what they have to do to keep a roof over their head. Their mother is a criminal and has undermined and endangered the girls their whole lives. In this first book in the series, the oldest daughter, Molly, has to take some dangerous bounty jobs to make enough money to keep the house from being sold out from under them. John is a rival bounty hunter who appears to have a crush on Molly much to her dismay. Lots of humor, romantic suspense, and action make this a great read.

Katie Ruggle has created a new series called Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters. In the first novel, Molly Pax and her four sisters are introduced to the reader. Molly is the oldest and head of the family bail recovery business. She’s a fierce bounty hunter and devoted sister. Molly is very familiar with the criminal elements of her job because her mother is always getting into trouble. Molly’s mother makes a huge mistake when she steals a necklace worth millions. The problem is she cannot be found and the necklace is stashed in her home. Now every thief in the area is trying to find that necklace by breaking into the home she shares with her daughters. Enter John Carmondy, a rival bounty hunter with a soft spot for Molly. John does his very best to help Molly and keep away the bad guys.

As a romantic suspense book, I think Ruggle has fallen a little short on the suspense. The storyline kept me interested but not riveted. There is a romance element to this story but it’s a very slow slide into a relationship. Molly is simply too focused on her job, sisters, and life to realize John is crazy about her. If you are looking for a strong romance, this is not your book. Ruggle has left many threads she can weave into other stories in this series. I look forward to reading them.
