It’s been a while, but I’ve read a few other books in this series and like the others, this didn’t disappoint. It was a quick, hot read that was really enjoyable. I really liked both main characters. I recommend.

Ashlyn Chase continues the Phoenix Brothers series with A Phoenix is Forever. Luca Fierro, a phoenix shifter, deserts the firefighting tradition of his brothers to become a policeman Dawn is psychic, but her karma is marred by working with a gang as a teenager. Dawn is trying to clean her karma and help Luca find missing people. Will Karma or Mother Nature assist her and will Dawn and Luca become a couple?

This is such a fun series. The details in the world-building never fail to amaze.

It was enjoyable to see the hero, Luca, try to follow orders. My reasoning is because he’s capable of doing things regular folks can’t and yet, he wants to belong so he curbs his natural inclinations, well, as much as he could. I could sense his frustration, his earnest willingness to ‘do’ something and being stymied because he has to follow protocol. The author clearly illustrated how exasperating it is to always have to follow rules. Rules that slow the progress down, preventing action, and Luca is all about action. Readers will find out just how rules and protocol can be used for ill instead of good. It made perfect sense then that the hero is left chomping at the bit. Like the blurb said, he’s trying to find a missing child and that’s a great reason to want action. Now.

I really liked Luca and Dawn’s first meeting. It made an impression and it brought the reader into the story that begins unfolding from that point. Practically everyone is on stage and by chapter 3, I was completely hooked. What will it take to find the little girl? Who took her? Why? Will she be rescued? How, and by who? The additional suspense spiced up the plot and provided opportunities for the hero and heroine to see in each other their strengths, and even weaknesses. That relationship give and take was what I liked about the couple.

If anyone has been reading the series, then you know about the goddesses. Suffice to say, they were quite the helpers. But of course, they have pizzazz and flair whenever they’re on scene.

As for the villain who caused all the grief, fear and mayhem, I kind of figured it was going to get serious when Luca was tasered. I cringed on his behalf. Since this is a romance story with a happy ending, the villain has to be caught and brought to justice. Comeuppance was delivered upon the villain, but considering the damage done and how the felonious blackguard played fast and loose with so many lives — spending a little extra time explaining why the punishment fit the crime, because I didn’t get it, would have been most welcome. I wanted to feel … more vindicated. I wanted to see the criminal suffer a bit more because the fallout touched so many people. It was incredibly heartbreaking. In fact, the scene with the desolate father was truly genius because his pain came right off the page. So, yeah, I really wanted to bask in justice being served. Also, I wanted more proof that Rita was taking concrete-to-the-reader steps that showed just how strongly the heroine’s effect was on the little girl. I was quite taken with how Dawn approached her and the girl’s reaction. I know it would have made the book longer, but I would have been fine with that.

Gabriella and Antonio are the best parents in the world. They have such a capacity for love; with role models like them, it’s not a wonder Dawn fell for Luca. Adding to the ‘awww’ factor was how they dealt with Dawn’s grandma.

Like I said, this romance story has a happy ever after, and Ms. Chase used the final chapter to wrap up all the threads with one, big, glittery bow of happiness. It was like a giant epilogue and I couldn’t ask for more. Luca’s romance with Dawn is a must read. Fans of the series have a wonderful experience in store when they pick up their own copy of A Phoenix Is Forever.

A phoenix shifter is not your typical shifter and Ashlyn Chase writes them HOT. I found the pace of the story to be perfect. The character development was natural and gave you real characters you cared about. I adored the gals at Karma Cleaners. Mixed in with the action and romance are applicable life lessons without feeling like you're being lectured. From beginning to end, this book took me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it.

Thank you to Ashlyn Chase, NetGalley, and Sourcebooks Casablanca for giving me the chance to read this book and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

Oh no - is this the last book of this series?! I'm sad if it is, because I loved these (mostly) firefighter, shapeshifter, family-oriented guys!

This story deals with the last of the single Fierro's - Luca. Being the youngest, and the only one who was interested in becoming something other than a firefighter (for a girl?!), he was sure to be the last to pair off. He may have been dating a horrible woman in secret, but that has recently ended, and his cop career has just started. After a rough shift, he runs into Dawn, who just so happens to be a bit of a paranormal as well. These two have an odd meeting that rapidly grows into something more.

Of course, all the characters were lovely. I especially enjoyed Dawn and her grandmother. This let us see more of Gabriella, which is always fun! Nothing is truly straightforward in this universe, so we get a good kidnapping, mystery, and HEA all rolled into this paranormal package. I'm happy to see that the entire family (extended and otherwise) gets a real nice wrap-up at the end, but I am so sad to say goodbye to all their quirks. Please, more?

Luca Fierro is a Phoenix shifter and Dawn Forest is trying to clean her karma. This is the last of the Fierro brothers to find their HEA and it does not come easily. I loved how Dawn worked so hard to change her life and how Luca looked at who she was now and not who she had been. Of course there is tension and danger as Luca and Dawn work to find a missing girl. Great story line as the Fierro family comes together to welcome Dawn and her grandmother.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

A PHOENIX IS FOREVER is the third story in Ashlyn Chase’s Phoenix Brothers series, and although I will always suggest reading in order, this one could be read on its own without any trouble.

Luca is a rookie cop in a family of firefighters. His family is supportive of whatever he does, but being the big, rowdy family they are he does take some ribbing. His first night on duty did not go smoothly, and the bad news continued once he was off duty. A chance encounter at a fountain with a psychic will change both their lives.

Dawn has an extraordinary gift, which at times can feel more like a nightmare. For years she’s used that gift for the wrong reasons and now that she’s turning her life around life has become complicated once again. A vision she received during a chance encounter shows her a handsome man covered in blood, a vision that affects her more than she’d like to admit. Luca and Dawn will part ways but it won’t be long before her unique talent can save a life, and perhaps lead to a life with the man, the phoenix she was meant to be with.

I was easily caught up in Dawn and Luca’s story in A PHOENIX IS FOREVER. The dangers they face and the bond that is building as they search for a missing young girl will only draw them closer. Their story has a more slow-burn buildup which feels completely natural for this couple. I enjoyed catching up with Luca’s family once again, and Dawn is a character to believe in as she changes the direction of her life by choice. If you love Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then you’d enjoy this series and this story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Phoenix is a sweet and engaging story. Although it is number three in a series, it’s possible to just pick this book up and start from there. Although there are reoccurring characters and they do refer to incidents that I assume happened in previous books, it doesn’t disrupt the flow of the story and it’s easy to follow along and pick up on what they are talking about.
Phoneis is really quite a light read, it has it’s funny moments, but the story is not superficial and deals with the main plot of the story with sensitivity without getting too dark.
Phonix is a sweet romance with a suspense theme running through it. It is light and engaging and it was a truly lovely read. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys a light paranormal romance.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I did not realize that this was more of a young adult book and that really is not my preferred choice in books. The characters, Luca and Dawn are just so young! Parts of the paranormal were just too cheesy for my taste.

The police hunt to find the missing girl was interesting and the dirty cop kept things interesting.

I did like that Luca realized that police work was not for him and had a different choice of profession in mind. Nice wrap up with the HEA, new location, and new job.

Action packed, sexy, fun and emotional adventure filled with danger, mystery, magic and passion... was a great read from beginning to end an awesome shifter world. This journey had my heart hooked from the very beginning and made it so hard to put down.

A good shapeshifting paranormal romance but unfortunately it didn't wow me enough to stick to the end. The lead characters seem interesting enough. One hand you have a shapeshifting firefighter and the other, a pixie psychic. Their worlds collide and they must race to the end so save a little girl that was kidnapped while fighting their growing chemistry. The lack of excitement definitely brought this down a few pegs but that didn't mean it wasn't somewhat enjoyable. I would definitely consider picking this back up in the future for another go.

Synopsis:
Luca Fierro comes from a family of phoenix shape-shifters. Together with Dawn Forrest, a psychic, they must find a missing girl before it’s too late, a task that will require them both to use their “abilities” to help bring her home.

My Thoughts:
Amazing! I love when an author can immediately start weaving a story that keeps you flipping the pages, and I was hooked from the start. The third book in this series, this can definitely be read as a standalone if you haven’t read the previous books (like myself). The mission to find the missing girl kept this a very fast-paced read. And the paranormal elements, the shape-shifting and mythical beings, were not so overbearing as to take away from the plot or completely change the “world”. In my opinion, those minor things were sprinkled in in moderation enough to make it interesting.

As for the characters, I was rooting for Luca and Dawn from the beginning. I loved their personalities and how they interacted with the people around them and each other. Their romance spawned from a friendship/partnership first and I loved it. I enjoyed seeing them grow as a couple instead of going all doe-eyed and hopping under the sheets their first week together. I envisioned Luca as a sweet, blue-eyed rookie fresh out of the academy, innocent and humorous, not yet hardened by the world. Whereas Dawn has been hardened given her past as a Keen Street Gang member. She’s been on the darker part, and she is doing everything in her power to become a better person so she never has to go back.

Again, I loved these two as well as the supporting characters. While there were many (Luca has a very large Italian family), I didn’t feel like I was drowning in a sea of nameless people. Everyone had their own quirks, their own personalities and roles in the story to keep in moving as well as help the main characters grow.

Would I Recommend:
Absolutely. Different, refreshing, this book made me a fan of Ashlyn Chase’s writing style.

Although in a series, you don’t need to read the others (but there are characters from the previous books)

Luca is a Phoenix shifter, all of his family are, but unlike his brothers (they work for the fire department) Luca is a police officer. And after a bad day at work, he phones his girlfriend for a little sympathy, but he gets more than he bargained for ......

Dawn can’t quite shake her bad girl image, she does t want to go back to gang life, she wants only to help people now. Being a psychic isn’t all it's cracked up to be, but wanting to help seems now to be her calling.

Luca and Dawn meet at a fountain, he spots her about to faint, catching her before she falls, she tells him that he will be covered in blood soon, and that he needs to be careful.

From there it’s a race against time to find a missing child (it’s a case Luca isn’t working on, but that doesn’t stop him) Luca and Dawn work really well together, and fighting a growing attraction between them.

The interaction between Dawn and her grandmother was fun to read, and between the Phoenix brothers was a laugh a minute.

Will they find the little girl before it’s too late?

You’ll need to read to find out.....

I have to confess, I actually had misgivings when I picked up the ARC of “A Phoenix is Forever.” My knowledge of phoenixes is limited to Dumbledore’s bird in the Harry Potter series.

But, phoenix shifter Luca Fierro, the hero in this paranormal novel easily changed my mind. I found him to be easily endearing. Adding Dawn Forest to the mix added drama and comedic relief at the same time. Why is that?

First, her name is peculiar! I mean who names the heroine Dawn Forest! Are we in Wonderland? That name alone made me smile. Then she is a psychic who actually faints when wielding her powers! Talk about being inadequate!

But, don’t worry. Amidst those laugh out loud funny moments, there is also seriousness and lots of drama in this book. Luca and Dawn might not be your typical lead characters but their story is fun to read.

“A Phoenix is Forever” is Rated T for Teens. Parental advise is strong advised due to paranormal violence and some criminal activities.

New author for me and I really enjoyed the book. It is a physic meet shifter paranormal action romance and the book touches on the sensitive and dark subject of human trafficking but not in an offensive way. Dawn is a physic being used by a drug gang for her abilities and is trying to break free and get her life in order. Luca is a shifter cop pining over his ex - Lisa, who’s father happens to be Luca’s sergeant. Talk about drama. Dawn’s grandmother Annette is a great character and absolutely lovable, her relationship with her granddaughter was a high point of the book.

I received a free ARC copy for my honest opinion and voluntary review.

A Phoenix is Forever by Ashlyn Chase

Paranormal shifter romance. 3rd in the Phoenix Bothers series. Can be read as a standalone. Seems to be a series wrap up.

I liked the couple. They were instantly engaging. They seemed to fit well together even though the heroine had a less than perfect past. I really liked the good karma message. I have always resonated with “what goes around, comes around” and similar sayings. I believe if you put good out into the world, that’s what you get back. The message from this book is the same.

What bothered me was the time delay on finding and rescuing the child. It wasn’t ignored, just seemed long. It was stressful!

A wonderful romantic suspense with a positive family tie in.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I purchased a copy of this to share.

For some reason this book comes off really light in tone, even though bad things happen. I think part of that is Dawn and how she wished to have her karma changed and now it's happening. I loved the idea that when people wish for this they are given and chance to make it happen themselves, that good things can start happening to them, Dawn was very deserving of this chance.

The chance meeting between Dawn and Luca seemed just that, but that one meeting seemed to snowball into more for both of them. I loved that each of them reached out to their connection, that by working together they were able to do much to help others and themselves. I really loved how Luca's family embraced Dawn and her grandmother.

I've read all the previous phoenix books and this is the 3rd. You don't have to read the previous books but it does help with some of the family interaction. Luca is the odd man er, phoenix, in his family. In a family of firefighters, he is a cop. He is determined to prove himself both to the boys in blue and to his family.

Dawn hasn't had the easiest life but she is determined to not go back to being used by the gang. I loved her relationship with her grandmother. Dawn's psychic abilities could help Luca solve a big case, one he isn't technically a part of, but he may be in over his head in more than one way.

It was a 3/5 for me. The story was solid, I just didn't connect to the characters.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book (via netgalley). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

I had such hopes for this book, as I have a weakness for smutty romances with shifter love interests in them. However, I quickly lost interest within the first few chapters, for several reasons. First, I found it really hard to connect with the two main characters. I imagine this might be in part because this is the third book in the series and I've missed out on the action in the previous installments. Many romance series are built so readers can read them separately, but here, I still felt like I was missing something. Secondly, I didn't really enjoy how hidden Luca kept his shifter life. If somebody is going to write about a man who shifts into a different creature, I sort of expect that to be a big part of the book. However, a few chapters in and there is hardly mention of that part of his life. Overall, it was really slow to get going and I just wasn't invested enough to keep reading.

Dawn was going down the wrong road until she decided to change her life. She is using her psychic abilities to do good in the world. She meets Luca, a Phoenix shifter and rookie cop, at a water fountain and sees him covered in blood. She warns him to be careful and tells him about her talents and gives him her card. When a mother is killed and her little girl goes missing, they work together to find her. The more they are together, the more they fall for each other. Can they find the little girl before something bad happens to her?
First time reading this author. She’s good but some parts, not many, just wasn’t believable. It was the dialect between them that sounded stilted sometimes. Other than that if you like shifters, suspense, and a big family you’ll enjoy this story.
