Fun wth appealing colorful photographs! Learn about skateboarding: what it is and how it works, learn to push, roll, and stop, where to skateboard, special events, and the gear you need, Short, "Do You Remember" questions appear after each section. The answers are in the back along with a glossary of terms. A perfect introductions to this action sport for would-be little skateboarders.

A great introduction to skateboarding as a sport. The photographs are fantastic and would definitely appeal to younger readers.
I like the fact that the book addresses the issue of safety, although I would have liked it to be tackled earlier and be accompanied by photos of children wearing both helmets and pads throughout the book. My favourite spread is pages 24-25. I also like the warning about cars and other people in the street.
Great glossary- I had no idea what ‘an ollie’ was!
Thank you to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

This is a non-fiction book with some great photos and facts about skateboarding. This series has several sports already published and they all follow a similar pattern. It is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about skateboarding. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. It gives basic rules, equipment and skills. I had one major complaint about this book in that it shows a young child learning to skateboard and they are not wearing any protective gear. There is a section devoted to that, but this photo missed the mark. For that reason alone, I deducted one star from my rating. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. It features both boys and girls as well as different ethnicities. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills. I am looking forward to seeing what other sports will be featured in this series. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

This book is good to teach children general information about skateboarding. There is a glossary of the tricks that are mentioned throughout the book. The book doesn't really explain what the tricks are, however it talks about being safe and the first steps of learning. It talks about skateboarding being a sport in the Olympics, which I am unsure about, though the idea of a big scale competition and skateboarding can be good to inspire children.

As always in this series, this book features big bright photos and some text. A little surprisingly, though I guess it shouldn’t be, all the photos here feature young kids on the skateboards, not all of them with protective gear even though there’s a section on that.
It’s certainly informative enough, though I’ve found that most of these books have words too big for readers of the target age. On the other hand, I think they’re more interested in the photos anyway.
