The night before his wedding, Jared Dupre discovers the demonic witch, Adam Montief, has kidnapped his brother, threatening to kill him, along with Jared’s fiancée, Kendra O'Connell, for a centuries-old vendetta Jared knows nothing about. A powerful witch himself, Jared tracks Adam from New Orleans to a remote island off the coast of Connecticut. A swordfight ensues where a final thrust of Jared's blade sends Adam over the cliff into the sea below. When Jared returns to New Orleans, he finds a triumphant Adam alive and declaring his love for Kendra. Kendra, not knowing Jared was forced to break off their engagement to save her life, turns to a new man, unaware he’s the same man who vows to kill the man she loves. Jared must look to the past to discover the truth behind the Montief’s vengeance against the Dupres while he fights to win back Kendra and bring about Adam's final destruction before Kendra is seduced into Adam's world of revenge and sadistic evil.
This was a pretty good story. It was a very creative world that this author has started to build. I really liked following Jared around through his journey to get back to Kendra. I recommend.

Book review of His Magic Touch by Debby Grahl

As is the case at times ... life got in the way and reading this took WAY TOO long ... but finish it I did.

It was a great story with plenty of heat! Well written with vivid characters and world.

I very much look forward to the next book!

I felt there was good balance between the two lead characters point of view with just enough of the villain's to keep things going. The New Orleans setting really came alive but I think that a little more attention could have been given to the Black Island settings. The characters were all really great. I felt they were well-developed and had excellent dialogue. There were a couple of sections I felt a little rushed as well as a few places I felt were drawn out unnecessarily. To be honest, I felt that the villain had the fewest places that fell flat. Debby Grahl writes one of the absolute best bad guys I've read.

The ghosts were treated with the same attention as the living, which I really enjoyed. The book did address domestic violence so beware if that's a trigger for you. It was one scene that didn't take up a huge portion of the book but I do want to make sure to make note of it because it was written very well.

Thank you to Debby Grahl, NetGalley, and The Wild Rose Press for giving me the chance to read this story and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

His Magic Touch, written by Debby Grahl is a suspenseful read that really draws the reader in from the beginning scenes at a strip club for a bachelor's night with the guys. Jared Dupree, the groom to be, disappears shortly before his wedding to his love, Kendra. Soon he is immersed in witchcraft and ghosts that could be helping him...or hindering his cause. The suspense continues to build and the reader finds out more about Jared and his brother The story behind the disappearance is about a long held grudge against the Dupree family and now it looks like Jared is racing against time to save his brother and get back to Kendra. Adam Montief is the one holding the grudge on behalf of his ancestors and family... and he has decided that he wants Kendra for his own.

The novel is a good read with details that read true to the setting, the characters, and the plot twists. As Kendra loses her trust for Jared, Adam Montief sneaks in to cast his spell over her and win her for himself. I would like to see more of Kendra's personality and strength in this novel, and believe her character is much deeper than portrayed in His Magic Touch.... but author Debby Grahl still gets 5 stars from me for the suspense, action, and plot twists!!! Love the ending!

His Magic Touch is a fast-paced story packed with magic and mayhem, deceit and vengeance, and a lost love that tears a heart in two. This story is nothing short of captivating; great characters (good and bad), a fabulous storyline and well-developed world building, all combine to make this a gripping tale and one that will consume you till the very end. I hope others enjoy this book as much as I did.

This book as two of my favourite elements witches and ghosts. Jared Dupre is about to get married but his brother has ran into some trouble and he must help him, he doesn't make his wedding. Theres a battle with the bad guy which is full of magic. Kendra his fiancee is my only problem with this book you would think after 5 years she would have some trust in him. She doesn't believe him and then gets put under the spell of the bad guy. I really didn't care for her. But I still enjoyed the book. Am hoping for more stories involing the characters which were all interesting.
