Cobain is the odd kid at school. And molly is the new girl. Both are looking for a fresh start.

What initial seems like a teen romance becomes a thriller after Molly is taken. Cobain is a suspect and he doesn't understand why, until he discovers Molly has been telling lies to him as well as everyone else

We Told Six Lies follows Cobain, a teen boy who is socially awkward and isolated, leading to him being on the outskirts of both his family and peers at school. He has a pretty mundane existence until he meets Molly Bates, who pays him attention and captivates him. So begins, an extremely twisted and tumultuous relationship. Everything seems normal until one night, Molly goes missing...and the prime suspect is no other than her loving boyfriend, Cobain.

Everyone seems to think he is somehow responsible, the police, his peers and his family. Nothing seems to add up...but does Cobain have something to do with Mollys disappearance? Or is he innocent?

The first thing I have to mention, which is at the centre of the novel, is Cobain and Mollys relationship. While usually I can't help but root for the main couple, I just found their relationship super bizarre. He's obsessive and a borderline stalker, whilst she is constantly lying and putting on a facade. Now I get why they both act the way they do but there was something about both of them together that just didn't fit for me.

Another major theme in the story is lies or deception. Many of the characters wear a mask, including Molly, which leads to even more mystery. This is also true for Cobain, who is such an unreliable narrator. I wasn't sure if he was suffering from split personality disorder or some other mental health issue as he has blackouts, fits of rage and has trouble controlling his emotions.

I had to suspend my disbelief a little whilst reading this book as some things felt a bit cliched and convenient but I did feel compelled to finish the book anyway. Just something to keep in mind!

At first, I thought I had the plot figured out but I have to give kudos to Victoria Scott here and admit, she kept me guessing! The plot is quite slow to start off with but picks up gradually leading to a tense and surprising ending. I was satisfied with the big reveal and I think it makes up for the pacing issues.

Overall, the suspense and reveal was the highlight of this book for me, because the romance fell flat for me and I didn't really connect with any of the characters. However I would still recommend this book if you want a more unconventional thriller and an explosive ending.

We told six lies a perfect name for this book! If contain and molly didn’t tell those lies would things have been different ? Would their lives have been normal ? Who will ever know ? What we do know for sure is this book puts you through every emotion and hits the nail on the head ! You will find romance, erotica, thriller, murder and mystery! What more could you want ?! I couldn’t stop reading tho book, and I’m sure my heart rate is sky high because the ending is so thrilling I wanted to scream out loud ! This will not disappoint! You fall in love with Cobain and Molly and I promise you will not expect what happens when all those lies come crashing together !

A little far fetched and a lot of jumping around, but it was still a fun read. There were some parts of the story, take Molly’s dad for instance, that had some solid potential, but was never really elaborated on. Cobain painted a beautifully tragic portrait of Molly that I would have loved to see more layers of. I dig the nod to Nirvana!

This was just an alright read for me, a slightly above average YA thriller holding my attention until the last few chapters. Once the twist was revealed I kinda lost interest in how it would ultimately play itself out.

Basically this is your typical girl goes missing and the boyfriend, being the main suspect, sets out to find out what happened to her.

I must admit, although I thought I had the mystery figured out a dozen different times, I was never even close to the truth. That being said, the reveal was still a letdown. I think I feel that way because this same twist has been done many times and way better. I recall one book with this same twist that made me sit up gasping because it was such a shock leaving my mind reeling, compelled to re-read the book to see what clues I missed.

I feel like a lot of this story was spent trying to lead the reader in the wrong direction leaving me with a sense that I'd been manipulated rather than stimulated.

Lastly, I have no idea what the title has to do with this story.

Wow. Totally didn’t see the ending coming.
This story was a slow start for me, and a very fast paced ending. While I couldn’t even imagine how it was going to end, when it did finally come to a stop I was left wanting more.... I don’t know if it was in a good way or not.

This is a tough one. I did enjoy reading it but I didn't exactly believe it. I thought it was interesting, but I didn't... feel it, if that makes sense. Like any of the characters could have died and I'd be fine with it.

We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott is geared toward the teen market, however I really enjoyed this book as an adult. This is a book that resonates with nuanced character development; Cobain is a moody teenager, on the fringe in his high school and often bullied and misunderstood. Molly is the mysterious and oh so desirable young teen girl he is lusting after. Their relationship develops into something neither of them is quite ready for, and that is where the plot truly takes off. While some of the behavior between the two seemed a little over the top, and some of the dialogue was a little bit of a stretch, the author has a way of creating an emotional bond between the two that pulls you in. Not particularly likeable characters, but relatable in some ways, Cobain and Molly could be any teenager who feels on the outside looking in. They both embellish the truth, especially Molly as she puts on various acts to get by, to get along. Told in alternating perspectives and time frames, the plot is skillfully put together with a great twist along the way, although that twist is not totally unforeseeable. Even with that element of predictability, the story was enough to keep me interested until the last pages. Highly recommend. I have read and absolutely adored Victoria Scott's previous books, but for some reason this fell totally flat for me. I just couldn't get into it, and it was a slog to the finish line. I will say the premise is interesting, but ultimately that wasn't enough to hold my attention.

This book was okay. I was hoping for more suspense and more of a riddle to unravel, but I didn't really get that.

The writing was okay, nothing remarkable but not horrible.

I admit to being disappointed with the whole story, so I can't really find much enthusiasm for it.

Though I can see my teens enjoying this book, I couldn’t personally get past my willful suspension of disbelief, especially when it came to the twist ending.

I read this book in one sitting last night and it isn't even that short.

Shocking!

I didn't think the plot was completely unpredictable, but I think maybe that was exactly the point. You kind of see where it's going - or so you believe - and you grip your Kindle hoping you're wrong, at least a little wrong. I was a little wrong but in an even more shocking way.

I think this book is perfect for those readers who like twist-guessing and thrilling young adult stories.

I wanted to like this book, but like most books I've read lately, I figured it out almost as soon as it started introducing people. I even had notes and highlights questioning the wrongness of a situation and if it was happening that way. I'm not even going to make them public on goodreads so spoilers don't get revealed. Granted the circumstances surrounding the ending weren't accurately predicted so there was some element of surprise, but every time a person came into the picture, or something happened, I felt off about it. If it had happened exactly like I was thinking it would have, I would have rated this even less, but the fact that I managed to be just a little bit surprised was pretty cool.

It did take me a while to get into the book, and I'm not fond of any of the characters at all, I pretty much hated them all. That was sad. The main character was this big stupid guy who had stalker tendencies and the girl was a complete ditz, a user and a manipulator, and I spent most of the book scoffing or rolling my eyes. I know if I were her, I wouldn't have put up with crap. I didn't "feel" the love, all I felt was creepy stalker stuff.

So I really wanted to like the book, but I just didnt, maybe if I had liked the characters more.

I really enjoyed this book. It had suspense, love, betrayal & longing. You will totally fall for Cobain. It also deals with mental illness. This book has it all. I totally enjoyed the way the book was written.

This is one of the few times in recent years where a twist actually made me gasp out loud and for that I have to say bravo.

“We Told Six Lies” tells the story of Cobain and Molly, a twisted young love story where manipulation and lofty dreams are spoken in whispers and soft glances but is quickly dropped like a rock in the sea when Molly goes missing and the only suspect is her boyfriend. When the past and present collide Cobain must sift through the lies of their relationship to find the truth about her disappearance before it’s too late.

This book is one of the best unreliable narrators I’ve ever read because we get not one but three who all contribute to the main plot and all who can’t be trusted and the only thing they have in common is that lies are their only hope for survival.

Here’s the thing I’m sure Molly is going to get a bit of hate which I understand but I personally loved her. Every moment we spend with her shows how layered her character is even if we know from the beginning that she’s not to be trusted and there’s something darker lurking just below the surface.

We play around with Stockholm Syndrome a bit which isn’t something I’ve had a lot of experience reading about but it was an interesting component to the story as we saw something unexpected unfold between the predator and victim who were both wearing masks and playing a role as they did things the other didn’t expect and developed a bond that was necessary for survival. And that twist! I am ashamed to say I did not see it coming and that’s so unlike me with mystery/thrillers to the point that I want to do another read to see if I can pick up on what I clearly missed the first time around.

This is a fast paced read that dives into the unknowns surrounding an outcast looking to blend in only to have his life turned upside down by a first love and the fallout of when that emotion turns sour and I enjoyed every second of it.

WOW I just finished We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott and it was amazing. This book had me hooked from chapter one and I couldn't stop reading. The twist and turns were so great it had me guessing till the final chapter. GREAT BOOK!!

Wow!! This one kept me guessing until the VERY LAST PAGE!!! An awesome YA suspense thriller that you do not want to miss!! This is the story of Cobain, a loner high school student who meets Molly, his opposite, pretty, friendly, feisty and devious. They start dating and a somewhat tumultuous relationship. One night Molly disappears. Although the story alternates back and forth between the present where Molly is missing and the past where Cobain and Molly are dating, the pieces of Molly's disappearance are there just not easily fit together. The more I read the more intrigued I was to figure out if Cobain was actually sane or has a split personality or is just crazy, where Molly actually was and who had kidnapped her, and what had happened in both of their pasts that neither had really told the other about....a very intriguing, psychological story that pulls you in right away and keeps you guessing until the very end. Well written, suspenseful and great characters! Definitely worth your time!

Did he imagine their relationship?

Molly mesmerizes Cobain at first sight. Alluring. Mystical. Dangerous. Whatever would she see in a boy like Cobain. The police want to know. Everyone who knows him thinks he did *something* to her, even his older brother Holt. Even his parents. Especially the police.

Told from Cobain’s perspective Then and Now, and Molly’s third person POV, I thought I knew where Victoria Scott was taking the story. I thought I figured out the twists early on. She had me fooled into assuming I knew where WE TOLD SIX LIES headed.

I didn’t particularly like or trust Cobain or Molly. Her cryptic half-truths and lies and his lack of boundaries had me rooting against their romance. I didn’t need to care for the main characters to be invested in WE TOLD SIX LIES. Instead of hoping for a happy Hallmark ending, I wanted a twisty dark conclusion.

At the halfway point, the story dragged a bit before picking up pace to a nonstop conclusion with more surprises than I could have anticipated.

WE TOLD SIX LIES is a must read for mystery and thriller fans.

I loved this story. It was very similar to novels like People Like Us and One of Us is Lying. It is a mysterious psychological thriller with quite a few twists that kept me engaged from page one. Highly recommend to fans of novels I listed above.
