This was my first Leddy Harper story and I really got a kick out it! I have to give props to Tatum for going above and beyond in order to achieve her dream (ain’t no way I could willingly work with my ex’s significant other), and the chemistry she has with Jason is fantastic

Leddy Harper is a new to me author. I found The (Half) Truth to be an enjoyable read. I'm looking forward to reading more books from Leddy.

The (Half) Truth is a funny story about Tatum. She wants to be a sous chef so bad she’ll do anything including working with her ex’s girlfriend. She comes up with a fib that she’s dating her best friends cousin. This all leads to some very funny and awkward moments for them all until all of the lies start to unravel.

I loved the characters! They were funny, quirky and relatable. Tatum was a great female lead. I loved her quirkiness. She funny and I felt everything she was going through. Jason was such a sweetheart and a genuinely good guy. He was a player who moved home to be near family and start over. The lines of truth and lies gets blurred very quickly and it became hard for Tatum to keep it all straight.

The story line was original and made for a quick read. I couldn’t wait to see what Tatum would get herself into next. If you like a romcom I highly recommend this book.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

THE (HALF) TRUTH by Leddy Harper is a quick read, but some of the characters are not to my liking. Tatum and Kelsey are best friends, but Kelsey doesn’t always seem to have Tatum’s best interests at heart. She gives her backhanded compliments and slight digs while also giving her ultimatums and often poor advice. Tatum seems to tell untruths or white lies based on what she thinks others want to hear, which gets her into more trouble than she ever thought. The last thing Tatum expects is to be called out on them.

Each chapter is told from either Tatum’s or Jason’s viewpoints. Tatum and her ex-fiancee, who’s also her boss at the restaurant where she works, definitely didn’t have closure when he broke off with her. Jason’s girlfriend of five years, whom he left behind in Las Vegas (where she’s a showgirl) thinks they should reconnect. Jason starts a relationship with Tatum when he thinks she needs a friend. Their paths cross unexpectedly several times, although they’ve both been warned off by Kelsey to keep apart.

There are twists and turns to the story along with a few laugh-out-loud moments. I liked Kelsey’s and Jason’s extended family and how they had Sunday lunch together every week, and how Tatum was always included. There is closure, especially with the epilogue, and a happily ever after I didn’t expect. There are a few loose ends, but this isn’t set to be a series–from what I can tell–though I can easily see it being one since there are more stories to tell.

Ms. Harper is a new-to-me author, and I will give some of her other books a try, hoping for characters more to my liking.

I rated the book 3.5 stars but rounded to 4 stars here and on other sites.

Tatum is so awkward. I kinda cringe reading about her, but I totally get it. I'm probably more awkward than she is. It's kind of funny the stuff she can get herself into. Apparently there was something about her that appealed to Jason. They were sweet together and had a little heat to them, especially when a relationship was forbidden. They were both kinda broken, but it worked.

Gah!! One of my absolute favorite things to read is the fake relationship trope. For that reason, when I read the blurb to The (Half) Truth I knew I had to read it. Jason and Tatum were absolutely adorable. I loved their banterific connection and the hysterical hijinks Tatum would get herself in to. Jason was very sexy and a delicious book boyfriend to swoon over. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Harper in the future! 4 stars!

The (Half) Truth was low on the angst, heavy on the swoon, and the right amount of sweet. This book brought all the smiles and countless laugh out loud moments. I loved the characters and how relatable they were. Just an overall enjoyable read.

Tatum is such a breath of fresh air. I loved her quirkiness and how goofy she was. She puts herself in some awkward situations that had me laughing nonstop. The best part though is the way she takes everything in stride and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. After a hellish incident, instead of letting it get her down she holds her head high. And this starts the process of her moving on.

Jason has spent years living in Vegas, and now after a tragedy he decides to move back home to be closer to his family. He thought he’d be moving with his girlfriend, but after countless times with her circling around the decision, she’s put it off and Jason’s had enough. They break up and he moves without her. And a fresh start is exactly what Jason needs.

Tatum and Jason were the absolute cutest. These two brought the laughs and especially the fun. I couldn’t get enough of them and just wanted more. I also couldn’t get enough of Kelsey, Tatum’s best friend and Jason’s cousin. She was such a hoot. All in all, The (Half) Truth was a sweet and fun read.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this title.

However, I was not able to finish this as I was not able to connect with the story and the way the characters were written.

I know, I might sound like a broken record starting my review with: this is one of the books that are not easy for me to rate and review. Although I had my moments with it and a great amount of scenes where I had to laugh out loud, it didn’t change the fact that I had for 1) trouble getting into the story, 2) that at the beginning I couldn’t really connect to the characters until about 50% and 3) that it couldn’t really hold my attention (I got distracted easily).

"...it was difficult to lose myself in my head when I was so busy losing myself in his touch"

However, after hitting the 50% mark things started to change for me. I came to like the direction the story was heading, I loved the interaction between the characters and I wanted to follow their path seeing how everything plays out. Tatum’s embarrassing moments became quickly my favourite parts and so did the parts were Kelsey, her best friend was involved.

"Fun fact: It's much harder to lie to yourself than it is to someone else"

The (Half) Truth is a slow burn, sexy and very charming romcom with a clumsy, awkward but cute heroine and a gorgeous, caring hero that will make you laugh out loud. So, if you are in need of an easy, enjoyable and entertaining read, this book is definitely for you!

Great playful and fun romance that kept me smiling and swooning! I stayed up late reading this, because I could not put it down! I was hooked from the first page to the very end! What a great story! This book is full of swoon worthy moments and great chemistry!

A fabulous and funny rom com from Leddy Harper. I was drawn in very quickly to Tatum and Jason's chemistry and found myself rooting for them from very early on.

Tatum has been left heartbroken and humiliated by her now ex fiance. She's trying to get her life back on track starting with moving in with her best friend Kelsey. When she meets Kelsey's cousin Jason sparks soon start to fly between the two and what starts out as a small white lie for socially awkward Tatum around her work colleagues soon turns in to so much more.

A laugh out loud romance that I utterly enjoyed and would highly recommend.

Leddy Harper’s The Half Truth is the perfect fun, light-hearted and heartfelt romance. A broken-hearted sous chef tells a little white lie in order to save face in front of her ex-fiancé – that she’s in a relationship with her best friend’s cousin. Although her fib ends up complicating things, it does bring these two people together, who both need a second chance at love.

“Pride goes before the fall,” goes an old saying. And that was exactly what happened to Tatum Alexander, romantic heroine of “The (Half) Truth” when trying to show her friends that she had moved on from her ex, she lied about a new love interest.

This “new” love interest happened to be Jason Tyler. He was supposed to live far away, but lo and behold, he just moved to Tatum’s hometown. The clever lie was turning out to be a disaster but lo and behold, Jason played along.

Dodging the bullet should have given Tatum the clarity of mind to stop saying “half truths” (her term for lies). But, she made up more yarns as she went along. And as it started unraveling, Tatum was faced once again of the possibility of her heart breaking.

A romantic comedy, “The Half Truth” was fun to read. Tatum was quirky and charming. But, that charm started to pale as she told more lies. After a while, it was no longer funny. Perhaps, that’s the reason why I am so torn about this book. Instead of the comedy of errors, which was truly funny, the book became a comedy of lies which just did not sit right with me on so many levels.

The Half Truth is Rated M for Mature due to all the lying.

None the less, Leddy did a brilliant job a this!

I loved this book! Leddy Harper had me laughing while I enjoyed this read. Tatum is a sou-chef and loves her job and is engaged. She is living her dream and excited for the next chapter in her life. She never dreamed her fiancé would end things and now she is stuck working for him at his restaurant while he flaunts around his new girlfriend.

She is determined to not let him get to her and continue to do her job and eventually move up. The only way to prove she has moved on is to get the perfect fake boyfriend. Her best friend and roommates cousin will do just the trick. He has no clue he is her “boyfriend”.

Jason has just moved back to town leaving behind his ex in Vegas to be closer to his family. After meeting Tatum his cousin warns him to stay away. He tries his best and eventually they decide on secret friends with benefits.

The banter between these characters was perfect. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed the writing style, but not the story. Tatum was just too much of a liar for me to really connect with. I liked Jason until the drunken night at the club. The chemistry between Tatum and Jason was great but all the lies killed the story for me.

I enjoyed Tatum and Jason and flew through The (Half) Truth. Tatum's jerk of a boyfriend broke up with her on her birthday, however he is still her boss so she can't escape him. In a panic she makes up a boyfriend, and uses Jason as the inspiration as she had a picture of him on her phone. Jason and Tatum started hitting it off and you could feel the tension between them. I did get a little frustrated with Tatum's lack of being up front with Jason, but I also get her need to pretend everything is ok and nothing is going wrong.

Fantastically hilarious.
Tatum is as accident prone and clumsy as they come, when her boyfriend dumps her filled with despair she then concocts the lie of a boyfriend. Only she uses her friends super hot cousin, what follows is an hilarious battle of identity and lust as Tatum and Jason fight again familial disapproval, lust and mistaken identity.
I cried and i laughed. A funny rollercoaster of a romance.
