This story made me laugh out loud a few times and I wasn't expecting that. I really liked Jason's sense of humor and how easy going his attitude is towards all the craziness happening around him. A craziness inadvertently happening because of Tatum's awkwardness. She doesn't do it on purpose, she just can't control all the gossip that develops around her and behind her back.

These two character are both hard at trusting, and both hurt. But when they are together everything flows easily. There is a sense of calm that they bring out of the other, that no one else does. Plus to both of them family and friends are a very important key on their future plans. All of that is great for their feelings and ability to move on but it means that for their present it just make the development of their relationship a bit harder. There is to many people with their own opinion of what Jason and Tatum should do. And Tatum has the oddest things happening to her. Which makes it more interesting for us the readers. And one the plus is that it feels very realistic with the characters behaviors and their worries.

Let`s face it. When we read a romance novel we know that things will work out in the end. That`s why we read them right? The (Half) Truth is no different, however it's how you get to the happy ending that is what readers are looking for. A little lie becomes a twisted mess, but oh how funny and wonderful the mess is! Leddy Harper is a writer who handles witty comebacks and dialogue very well. She's now on my "must read" list!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with the ARC in exchange for my honest review and opinions.

The (Half) Truth

I was so excited to receive my second Leddy Harper ARC.

I think this is one of the most hilarious books I've ever read todate. Tatum Alexander is a superstar in the kitchen but is all kinds of awkward... Enter Jason Watson... Tatum's bestfriend' mãnwhørē cousin, who is all kinds of dreamy. What started as a tiny white lie, snowballed into an uncontrollable avalanche of lies... it was a clu$terfüçk. For real. There were a lot of LOL moments in there.

I definitely can relate to the awkwardness of it all.

But it's not all fun and games though, there were moments that'll pull on your heartstrings as well.

It's family centered... it'll teach you about second-chances and also about taking risks.

If you're looking for a fun and light read, then this is the book to pick up next.

Tatum and Jason's story is engaging and heartwarming. After Tatum finds herself the object of pity for having to work as a chef for her ex-fiancé, she spins a tale about her new boyfriend to prove that she's moved on. The only problem is her new "boyfriend" is really her best friend's cousin, who she has only met once.

The sparks fly, as does the witty repartee, in this smart, well written story. Each character is sympathetic and has depth, and you'll find yourself wanting to be a part of this warm, loving family.

With a blend of forbidden, rom-com and second chances, The (Half) Truth is both sexy and charming.

Tatum Alexander is so awkward it’s adorable. The mess she gets herself into is hilarious. I sometimes cringed and felt bad for her at the situations she put herself into, but she kept me smiling the entire time. She deserves to be happy.

Jason Watson is a sweet guy. He’s starting over and convinced he does not want to date or be in any kind of long term relationship. His actions and concerns towards Tatum clearly indicate otherwise though he’s reluctant to admit it.

Their denial at was happening was sweet. Their interaction and banter was fun and charming, especially Jason’s need to make Tatum at ease and finding ways to spend time with her. They both had things they needed to work through but that is part of the journey.

It was slightly frustrating the impressions some were holding onto and their refusal to drop them. But sometimes you need a friend like that and Kelsey was perfect in that role. She was the supportive best friend that Tatum needed and the cousin to put Jason straight. There was also terrific support and teasing that only a family can get away with.

There are moments of hilarity tempered with some angst and low key drama. There’s love, family and friends. It’s a story I settled into and thoroughly enjoyed.

I always enjoy a Leddy Harper book! This was no exception. I would say this is her best book yet! I would highly recommend it.

This is a fun and light contemporary romance. Typically, I do not like a book that the story is supported based on a lie. This was not what I expected. A lie is told that spirals out of control in the world surrounding the main couple. The heroine needs to clearly reign in it, but if did that immediately this would have been a very short book. The two main characters are not lying to trap each other in a relationship. Overall, it was cute and flirty. A quick read that was perfect for a bit of escapism.

I really liked this book,
The characters was great.. Jason even better than great.. 😉
Jason and Tatum was pretty comical together I'm pretty sure this wasn't meant to be a romcom but it had me in stitches in certain parts.
Tatum to me reminded me alot of myself she's shy when you first meet her, pretty awkward around others but also very quirky and quick wit. She's probably the first female character I’ve really found funny for a while now.
Now lets bring it back round to my main man Jason 😍 i absolutely loved him, he was so easy to love and was funny aswell! He found humour in alot of Tatums quirks and mishaps that i couldn't help myself to like him.

Overall this book was great, the storyline flowed effortlessly and was easy to get into. I really would recommend getting it when it's live 😍🙌

As a person who hates lies, I thought I might have trouble with this premise, but Tatum’s lie has a hilarious impact. It seems so silly, but snowballs so easily. Which leads me to discuss Tatum. I LOVE HER! She is awkward, and silly, and TOTALLY AMAZING. She is one of my favorite realistic female characters I’ve read in a while. And her lies are just too entertaining because they get so outlandish. Jason was interesting, and likable, but Tatum really made the story for me.

This story also has one of my most favorite things, a great supporting cast of family members. I love that Tatum is already apart of Jason’s family get-togethers before he even enters the picture, and she lives with his cousin. I love that his mom is going through a phase of finding herself, and I love that he just can’t understand it. I just love the family dynamic so much!

Special thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the free eARC in exchange for an honest review!

The (Half) Truth was a fun and cute love story. I loved how awkward Tatum was, she was so much more relatable than the sophisticated model-like main characters that you often read in books. She made me laugh quite a few times throughout the story. Jason was the calm and collected guy that helped balance her out well, and I loved them together!

This was a cute story! I loved Jason. He was so sweet! I also liked Tatum's awkwardness. I just didn't like that she came off a little whiny. I just didn't understand her. I can normally connect with the characters, and I couldn't with her.

Kelsie was kind of awful. I didn't like the way she treated Jason or Tatum, sometimes.

Other than that, I liked the book.

So awkwardly amazing. Absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. I've never read Leddy Harper book before but this one had me laughing so hard I had tears. Tatum reminded me so much of myself she was so awkward and always embarrassing herself and she is a favorite heroine of mine because this chick still kicked butt. Jason was so sweet and trying to prove hisself to everyone that I instantly fell In love with him. I swear these two was so cute together and this story was sweet, romantic, steamy and so funny. This definitely won't be my last book by this author. I can't wait to read her others books, one of the best books I've read this year.

I recieved a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really, really enjoyed this, I couldn't out it down, not even for sleep... Its 2.30 am an I just finished it. I read it in one sitting, and I'm so glad I did.

This book was hilarious, at one point I highlighted almost 2 full pages because I was crying with laughter. I cried multiple times whilst reading it and thinking about it now I still find them funny 😂

I love Tatum and Jason... I think they both overreacted to situations and I'm glad they worked everything out... But it sure was funny watching them struggle...

I just loved the way these guys were written - I mean I hate instalove - but it kinda fit... I liked the progression from casual to exclusive but non relationship to a big fight with all the truth to loneliness and then realising the truth we all already knew.l to the happy ending.

I love Jason's family they're so sweet and kind, Tatum's family also seem really cool. Michael is a grade A douche... I know he's meant to be but I loathe him. Well done Tatum for realising - if a little too late - that he wasn't what she wanted. I like Rebecca when we finally get to see behind the superficial face that Tatum saw... Amanda... I'm still not sure of, she's bitchy but kinda cool and supportive in her own way... We don't get to know Carrie enough to either like or dislike her...

This was my first book by Leddy Harper and I enjoyed it. It was a quick read and fun throughout.

The story was told from dual prospectives of Tatum who is a chef working in her ex fiance's kitchen shortly after their break up. Which is made even more awkward when her ex hires his new girlfriend to also work in the kitchen. The second perspective is Jason's who is Tatum's best friend's cousin. Also fresh from a break up moves home to a small town. Obviously the two meet and the story develops from there.

While at times I could find Tatum's personality a little over the top, I genuinely found myself laughing out loud and cheering for the two main characters. It was a very fun contemporary read that was a great for a mood lifting read.

Well, there's definitely something to be said about your lies catching up to you and this book said it well! In a very sweet, sexy and romantic way! I've never read anything by this author but I will definitely keep my eyes open for future releases. Jason is a very likeable character and I honestly had a hard time believing his womanizing ways because he certainly didn't appear that way, but then again, we're introduced to him after he has matured and grown up. I liked Tatum but not as much as I liked Jason--probably because I was angry with her for "not coming clean" earlier. Interesting secondary characters as well that I hope get their own stories! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

An interesting story that had me laughing and intrigued. Tatum and Jason both ended long term relationships and were not interested in pursuing anything. However, things change when sparks fly and they develop a friendship/relationship. Of course nothing goes smoothly and they hit a lot of bumps. The characters were fantastic and there were times I found myself enjoying them more than the story itself. Overall this story was terrific and very enjoyable.

This book was awkwardly amazing. Got to love it when a character can do the most embarrassing things and still come out on top. This book was hilarious and it couldn't have been any better.

I have a few of this author's books on my Kindle, but this is my first read from her! I'm not sure why I haven't read any of the book that are already on my Kindle lol, but I was sent an email from Montlake Romance and this book was in it, so I decided to give it a read! After reading, I can say that I loved the sound of the synopsis and it was definitely something I would read, but after reading, this book actually fell a bit flat for me! I just felt like nothing big happened to really fuel the plot and make it more interesting and this meant that it stayed on one level! It did start to have a few bigger scenes, but these didn't come in until nearer the end! Overall, I did like the plot and the writing was brilliant! I loved the romance aspect as well and it allowed a few seriously hot scenes between the two main characters, which were pretty hot! The characters were also amazing and did make the book better! Tatum was the main female character, and in this book she was dealing with a messy breakup and wasn't really sure what to do next! She also had to work with her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, which must have been hard for Tatum! I did feel for Tatum in this book because she did tell a little white lie, which then turned into a big lie and she was then stuck! This did have a big impact on Tatum and she was sorry for what she did! Jason was the main male character and love interest of Tatum! Jason had also been through a messy breakup in this book and he was now in a new place with a new job and life! I loved Jason in this book! He was funny at times and I loved the way he was with Tatum! He made her squirm, which was funny, and it was easy to see how much he cared about her! Jason also felt betrayed by Tatum when it came to her secret, which I could understand, but he did learn a lot about himself in this book! I loved that this book was written from both characters point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be before I started reading, but then I wasn't sure after I read the synopsis! I'm really happy that it was written from both Tatum and Jason's point of views because it allowed for more things to happen in the plot and it helped me connect and understand both characters more! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! I would love to read more on Tatum and Jason, but everything was wrapped up and all the questions raised were answered! The ending was also left at the perfect place for Tatum and Jason and summed up their relationship! I now can't wait to check out this author's other books and give them a read! She's released quite a few books and they all sound like my kind of read, so I can't wait to check them out soon! I also love the cover for this book a lot! It matches the feel of the book and it would definitely draw me to the book if I didn't already know the author's name! The cover image also suits the relationship between Tatum and Jason! Big thank you to Leddy, Montlake Romance and Netgalley for an ARC of The (Half) Truth!
