As I've learned to expect, a beautifully written and fun read. Senate writes wonderfully believable stories with flawed but truly good heroes and heroines

Charming, heartwarming and absolutely adorable, it is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with Melissa Senate’s latest novel, A New Leash on Love.

Claire Asher and Matt Fielding were childhood sweethearts who were supposed to spend the rest of their lives together. But when their high school romance had come to an unexpected end, Matt had left the small town they had grown up in and joined the army, leaving Claire heartbroken and dejected. With the man of her dreams half a world away, Claire had had no other choice but to get on with her life. She had gone off to college and met and married a man who was as far removed from Prince Charming as it was possible to get. Now single, Claire makes her living as a teacher and spends her spare time volunteering at the Furever Paws shelter. Although she has dipped a tentative toe in the dating pool, nobody can come close to Matt who, much to her shock, has come back to Spring Forest looking as devastatingly handsome as ever!

Army vet Matt Fielding is back in Spring Forest with an important mission: to find a puppy for his adorable niece, Ellie. On his quest to find the perfect pet, he never once expected to run into his first love again and to find all of those old feelings coming back with a vengeance! Matt knows that he should give Claire a wide berth and leave her to get on with her life, but that soon proves easier said than done! As they find themselves in close proximity together, Matt and Claire soon realize that resisting one another is futile! But do they have the courage to admit the truth about the depth of their feelings for one another? Or are they going to let this second chance at happiness pass them by again?

A wonderfully uplifting contemporary romance you will read with a great big smile on your face, A New Leash on Love is a terrific tale that has got it all: cute dogs, a sexy hero, a wonderful heroine, small town charm, delicious humor and powerful emotion.

A sparkling romance that will touch your heart and tickle your funny bone, Melissa Senate’s A New Leash on Love is a first-rate romance that is heading straight for my keeper shelf!

A sweet second chance romance + shelter animals = great series start!

It's easy to root for Matt and Claire (and their changing menagerie!)--it's clear from the start that even though Matt had ended things between them years ago that the spark wasn't gone. Fortunately, life seemed to be determined to throw the two of them together almost nonstop; unfortunately, Matt was more sure than ever that he still wasn't the person that could give Claire her HEA. It's hard to say who was more frustrated by his stubbornness, Claire or the reader, but he does eventually get his head out of his you-know-what and decide to grab happiness when it's right in front of him, resulting in a very happy (hopefully) ever after at last.

Along the way there's all kinds of cuteness with the animals they're helping, fostering, adopting, and training, and some rather obvious clues about what direction future series books might take. If you enjoy second chance romance featuring furry secondary characters, give this one a try!

Another sweet and warm fuzzy book by an author that I have come to enjoy. Thank you to the publishers for letting me read it.

Second changes and a dog shelter. I loved this book. I don't know how accurate the ins and outs of the rescue/shelter were but they seemed right on from an outsiders view point. I learned lots about that, on top of really enjoying the romance and struggles between Claire and Matt. Not to mention Birdie and Bunny! Who wouldn't love them!

I really hope we get to learn more about of Whitaker Acres in the rest of the series.

Claire and Matt were high school sweethearts until he decided to end their relationship before he joined the Army. They have both moved forward with their lives but neither has forgotten their first love.

Eighteen year after a career ending injury he is back in town. They are both surprised to see the other when he visits the animal shelter where she volunteers to find a puppy for his niece. The feelings between them are stronger than ever but will this be their second chance or are their pasts too much to overcome?

This is a sweet and heartwarming second chance at love story filled with family, love and furry friends. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

I had not read this author before so I looked forward to this one. Heartwarming was what I was looking for with this fitting that by the looks. This also turned out to be a second chance too which became a plus. Matt and Claire take you on this one with a look on how relationship can build again regardless on our interference. I say that because of his avoidance but thank goodness things went a different direction. This one gives you the warmth you need especially when things can go cold. The author has the talent and charm to give a romance that transports us for what we need.

If you're looking for a lovely, easy going second chance romance to escape into, look no further! This story even has some delightful fur babies to keep you sighing!

Claire Asher was devastated when her High School sweetheart broke up with her after their prom so many years ago before he went off to serve in the armed forces. She discovers he's home again, almost recovered after serious injury, when he visits the local animal shelter where she volunteers, looking for a pup for his eight year old niece. The attraction between the two is still there but he's adamant that he's not good enough for her. Can a cute puppy his niece names Sparkle, together with other rescued animals, help bring these two together to find a HEA together?

This is a second chance romance where he's determined he's not good enough for her so he'll leave again. It doesn't seem to matter what she says or does, he's attracted but sure he'll have to leave. With the animal shelter, the waifs and strays in it, blind dates, healing, a horrendous storm and so much more this is a gentle story of love lost and found again.

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

A war hero, a school teacher, and dogs. What more could you want? When Matt comes back into Claire’s life she realizes she never got over him. Matt, however, is determined to keep his distance. Their worlds collide when he volunteers to train a five month old puppy, Sparkle, for his eight year old niece.

The writing was fantastic, the story was great, the characters were relatable. I don’t have anything bad to say about this quick, sweet romance read.
3.5 stars!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was cute but not much tension at all. Matt and Amy were high school sweethearts before he dumps her out of the blue because "he'll ruin her future," Neither got over the other so when they run into each other at a rescue center, it's a shock. Amy is pretty much immediately ready to jump back in but Matt is a typical "I'm not worthy" hero. He really never even tries to woo his long lost love back. For the entirety of the book he's in denial. The animals are cute and I love everyone else in the book, but the romance is boring. The final climactic scene at the end is a bit unbelievable- really? a barn is a safe place?- but it gets them to where they need to be.
