Protecting His Secret Son is the sixth book in the series Callahan Confidential. Mike and Shayla go a long way and now she is back into town. They were high school sweethearts but then his father was killed in the line of duty. The Callahan family suspected her father and brother for the travesty but he needed to put that in the back burner and help Shayla and her son. Shayla is back home because her father is ill and, in the hospital, but she also has a secret she has been keeping from Mike. Mike is still attracted to Shayla but he can’t let it go of the past in order to keep her safe along with her son. As they keep running for gunman, she finally tells him that Brodie is his son. He wants to get to know his son he has missed so much but it’s kind of hard when running from criminals. Now he has to figure out if Shayla’s father and brother did have something to do with his father’s death or is there something else going on. I loved reading all the books about the Callahan family.

Protecting His Secret Son is the sixth and final book in the Callahan Confidential series. I've really loved getting to know this family and am sad it is over. This book was possibly my favorite as I loved finally getting to read Mike's story!

The book starts out with a crazy-intense scene that sucks you right in. I didn't know what was going on and why someone was shooting at Shayla. It was interesting to see Mike's reaction to her having a child and not realizing at first that her son is his.

The mystery was good and it wasn't easy to guess what was going on. The book was never boring and I finished it relatively quickly. I recommend this book. I don't think you need to read the entire series in order to enjoy this one.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed reading this. An interesting story with fun characters. Well written.

I enjoyed this book. Mike is trying to solve his father's murder and as the 'lone wolf' of the family, he thinks he has the answers and can do it all on his own. Shayla is shocked when Mike save's her and her son's lives because she really never expected to see him again.
I thought the author did a good job with the characters. Having read the previous books in this series, it was great to see some past characters and see what they are doing in their lives. The fall out from some of the secrets wasn't as huge as I was expecting it to be and I thought Shayla and Mike were both very accepting considering all that had happened.
Overall it was a 4/5.

Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book via netgalley. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

This is a suspenseful, intriguing story that kept me turning pages to see what happened next. There’s a strong theme of family loyalty and faith in times of trouble. The best part of this storyline for me was the way the Callahan family worked together to protect Shayla and Brody. It’s a clean story with no foul language. I had not read the other books in this series, but that did not hinder my enjoyment of this one. I liked the author’s writing style and would read another of her books.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This was a lukewarm read for me because it was more of a PG then a steamy-type which I tend to like. The whole keeping the baby secret theme is also another theme that I loathe when especially there isn’t a good reason to keep it a secret in the first place. For me, the chemistry also was not there and I was bored halfway through.

Mike is an investigator trying to find the person who was behind his fathers death. Tailing his ex's brother who is suspect ends up with Mike saving Shayla and her little boy. Now hes on a mission to protect the two while still working the case. Now hes finding out that the child is his and he will do everything in his power to keep them safe.

When it comes to this book there is plenty of mystery and suspense. There was so much going on that'll keep the readers hooked till the very end. I loved getting to see these characters and how they handled everything that came their way. Overall I really enjoyed this book!

This is book six in the Callahan Confidential series, however I do feel it is a stand a lone book. You will miss history of the Callahan family and they solve a crime that has woven its way through all the previous books, not to mention some great reads, but it is not necessary to follow along with the main focus of this novel.

The lone wolf of the family, Mike Callahan, is the main character in this book. When Mikes past and present collide he must refocus on what is important and relook at facts, all while protecting Shayla and Brodie.

This novel is packed with suspense, Mystery, Romance, Questions and so much more.

The explosive conclusion to the Callahan Confidential Series!

Private Investigator Mike Callahan has been searching for answers concerning his father's death, and his job has given him more resources than his siblings. When his old flame Shayla comes back with a young boy in tow, he feels obligated to help protect them. But he wonders if she might be tied up in the convoluted crossfire that killed his father.

Dodging danger at every step, it seems like the people who are after them know where they are and what they are doing. Mike and Shayla must work together to put together all the pieces, while Mike wonders if Shayla is someone he can trust.

Mike admires Shayla, and her strength, he sees that she is a good mother and she makes it look way easier than it is. Brody is a good boy, big for his age and always hungry, he really likes Mike and enjoys hanging out with him.

I loved this action packed conclusion to this fantastic series, and how the brothers all are so supportive of each other, and work together. I love how Mike and Shayla affirm their faith and give love a second chance. You won't want to miss this one, especially if you've read the other books in the series.

This book is a Christian romantic suspense novel. It's the sixth in a series, but you can understand this book without reading the previous ones.

The romantic pair have a past: they slept together once, got engaged, then Mike accused her family of being involved with the people who killed his father. She left and didn't try too hard to let him know that she was pregnant with his son. Now she's back to visit her father, and someone starts shooting at her. Mike protects her while trying to figure out who is behind his father's death and why they're after Shayla. The secret comes out that he's the father of her son. He wants to be involved in his son's life, but she's still not feeling too cozy toward a man whom she thinks still believes her father and brother are corrupt. I liked the characters, and the Callahan brother finally solve their father's murder. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this suspenseful novel.
