This was an interesting read. While I don't agree with everything with the Montessori way, it still provided things that I will definitely incorporate into my parenting. Simone Davies did a great job of explaining things and saying them in a way that is easy to understand and implement.

I absolutely love Montessori and although my daughter isn't developmentally a toddler yet I look forward to rereading this book then. I am a kindergarten teacher and there are lots of great ideas for things I can do in my classroom.

This is a must have for any family with young children who are interested in the Montessori method. Davies breaks down each concept in an understandable way, making implementation a breeze. The illustrations are gorgeous and the photographs are perfect to further explain visually what the author is saying. I would recommend this book for anyone with young children or who works with young children.

Thorough and enlightening, the Montessori Toddler is a rich resource for parents, teachers and caretakers who have an interest in bringing a calmer, gentler bend to their child-rearing style by incorporating ideas from the Montessori method.

Cleverly structured in easily-digestible chapters, it’s easy to flip through this book to delve into a specific topic or read from cover to cover as suits. Davies gradually introduces various points of the Montessori philosophy and how you can incorporate these ideas into your home, schedule or parenting approach, while illustrating the vibrant and turbulent period of toddlerhood and teaching adults how to think more clearly about treating young children with respect and encouragement, building an environment that fosters exploration and independence.

While I don’t agree with every tenet of this approach and there are points which perhaps aren’t the best fit for our family, I found this book to be surprisingly helpful, and there are many ideas which we’ve introduced to our home or have started concentrating more strongly on which have already made a positive, gentle impact on all family members.

Definitely worth a thorough read.

It was an extremely interesting read. The book follows Maria Montessori’s principles of raising a free and responsible child by helping your toddler discover the world with all its wonders. The activities focus on practical aspects of daily life e.g. setting up the child’s room to foster sensory development, coordination and sense of order. Well-designed and clear, the book will be appreciated by new parents seeking practical guidance into how to implement Montessori principles at home.
Highly recommended.

I knew very little of Montessori methods prior to this books so I learned a lot that I want to try with my 3 year old. I wish I'd had this book when my 5 year old was born.

If I were to recommend a single book on how to raise your child Montessori-style, this would be it. The book includes important insights on the Montessori method and lifestyle, as well as on positive discipline or non-violent communication. In addition, it is full of practical information about toddler activities.

There is information to glean from this, but Montessori isn't for everyone. For the specific audience I think it will be welcome.

I have over a decade of experience in Montessori and I sure wish I'd have had this when I was teaching! I would have loved to give this to my toddler parents. I've read dozens and dozens on Montessori books and this is by far one of the best. It's comprehensive without being too wordy. It's beautifully laid out. Simone made Montessori feel much more attainable and understandable in the home than other authors have been able to do. This would be a fantastic gift and an essential resource for any parent looking to make the toddler years easier!

Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read a digital copy of this excellent book to share my honest opinions.

I had very basic prior knowledge of Montessori before reading this book. And as the mother of a 2 year old - this book was so fantastic at outlining child development as well as practical ways to encourage exploration and creativity in my child. I have already recommended this book to all my mom friends and have a physical copy myself! Great information and direction for stay at home moms trying to make the most of the time with their little ones!

The Montessori Toddler is a visually attractive book that contains ten chapters, a small section of real stories and quotes from Montessori families, and an appendix.
I am a teacher who has been educated in traditional teaching methods. In my traditional education, we were briefly taught about Maria Montessori and her ideology for children. I have toured Montessori schools before. I was vaguely familiar with the ideas and guidelines used in the Montessori approach when I picked up this book. This book includes a brief introduction to the history of the Montessori method, as well as examples of toys/furniture/equipment commonly found in Montessori environments.
Davies did an excellent job of providing practical steps for the parent to begin incorporating into the home environment. While this book is targeted to toddlers, there was much information that could be applied to older children as well.
I personally appreciated the boxes labeled "To Practice" that provide a simple summary of the previous chapter and ways for the parent to begin to put the lessons into practice. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is even remotely interested in learning more about the Montessori method.

Montessori methods are of interest to me as a school teacher. I already knew some of the basic information about Montessori education, but I liked the suggestions for how to incorporate Montessori ideas into a toddler's home space. My son is past the toddler stage, but I got an idea for making him a picture-based checklist for his morning and bed routines this summer to help him with his independence. This book was very thorough, and the ideas would be easy to implement.

I enjoyed this book. I have a limited knowledge of Montessori teaching. I know what it is and how it works but I've never researched how to put it into practice with children. Not having children myself, I never needed that knowledge but I do work with children and I like to know the current trends. I thought this was helpfully written for parents and a good overview of what it is and how to put it into everyday practice.

I really enjoyed this book! It was designed beautifully and easy to read. While I'm not a "Montessori" parent or practice a lot of the principles, I found this book to be a great introduction and gave me a lot of great ideas, insights and practices for parenting - especially when it comes to learning and education.

As a early childhood teacher and mom of a toddler I loved this book. The illustrations and pictures provided great detail into the activities presented and I loved the format of this book. It is well written and organized. It helped me better understand the many feelings and emotions of my toddler and the advice presented is very applicable both in my classroom and with my children!
