Dannnnnnng y’all. I sure hope Santa wasn’t relying on my Christmas spirit to get his sleigh to fly! How can the fake dating trope end up a flop for me??? Wellllllll lemme tell you - unlikeable characters, no story (and we’re talking a holiday romcom so it’s not like I expected a whole lot) and instalove with zero chemistry) to name a few things. ⭐️⭐️ and back to the murder books I go!

This was cute! I love Christmas books and I love the fake dating trope more than any other trope in romance, so I was very excited about this story. I swear I have seen a Hallmark movie that is this exact book, but I think that just shows that the plot is easily recycled and reused. And that's ok! Sometimes that's exactly what you need, and I do find stories like these comforting and fun. It's not incredibly memorable, but it was fun to read.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

Christmas is coming and Nikki doesn’t have a date to bring home with her for the holidays. It wouldn’t have been a problem if her sister hadn’t just announced her engagement to the same guy Nikki has always secretly been in love with. Tired of being considered as the spinster of the family, she decides to hire aspiring-actor Diego as a fake boyfriend to bring home for the holidays. And that decision will change her life forever.

This one was such a cute, lovely read! Finally I found a book that has been marketed as “festive” and that is actually Christmassy. The writing is very good, funny and heartwarming at the same time. There is real chemistry between the characters and I loved how Christmas was represented in this book. I wish I had found this novel a bit earlier: it would have been a delightful Christmas read. Still, better late than never. Recommended to all those who’d love a genuine festive romcom.

A Christmas Date is in the First Comes Love series, but each book is about a different woman and can be read as standalone stories. This one has Hallmark movie written all over it. A fake boyfriend who becomes a real one trope, but it was fun and well written. Nikki works for an advertising company, so when she needs to find someone to pretend to be her boyfriend, she looks to their database of actors. When she plugs in all the things her sister wanted in her imaginary and perfect boyfriend when they were growing up, Diego's picture pops up. A totally gorgeous half Italian, half Irish man who actually loves Christmas. Getting to know each other so they can fool her family, brings them closer together and spending time with her Christmas loving family, finds it harder to resist this scrumptious man. I enjoyed the warmth developing between Nikki and Diego as well as the love of her family. I think Nikki is blind to how much her family really loves her and wants her to be happy. A fun, happily ever after Christmas romance.

This book was not for me. I did not particularly like it and ended up DNFing it thus won't be able to provide a detailed review.

A Christmas Date is an adorable holiday romance that features the fake dating trope. When Nikki is faced with spending Christmas in the shadow of her newly engaged younger sister at another family Christmas, she decides to hire an actor to play the part of her boyfriend. Diego is a gorgeous and kind hero and I loved the way the relationship between he and Nikki built through the novel. I will definitely be checking out more by Camilla Isley!

*** I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much to NetGalley and Pink Bloom Press for the opportunity to read and review A Christmas Date! ***

I would like to sincerely apologize to Pink Bloom Press for posted a late review for A Christmas Date now just 2018 was not a great year for me health-wise and I am still struggling with my health this year as well. But let's go onwards and talk about my review and not talk about my health issues now, shall we? Now back in November, I've been seeing great reviews about this book everywhere in the book blogging community that I was intrigued to check it out my self. Plus it would have been a great Christmas book to read during the festive holiday season, so I went to NetGalley and see if the had it and they did and I was so glad and happy when I got the chance to read it through NetGalley. Ohh I loved and enjoyed this amazing Christmas Romance book mix in with fun and laughter featuring with two headstrong sisters that always biker and fight during there family holiday stay at there parents house always trying to one-up each other. I know there was going to be a complete and utter mess in the family household with hilarity ensue especially when Nikki little sister is engaged to Paul who not only is her best male friend but she secretly was in love with him as well and I was so ready to read messy and hilarious Christmas Romance book. And I am really happy to report that I got everything that I wanted in this book plus more. Now I don't want to go into any details about A Christmas Date because I think you all should read this book and see how you feel about this gem of a book. Now A Christmas Date is the third book of the First Comes Love series and I didn't read the first or second book of the First Comes Love series but I do think you can read this amazing book as a stand-alone. But it did make me want to read the first and second book of First Comes Love series because I loved and enjoyed the writing style that flowed well with understandable fun dialogue. I loved reading all the characters and the family dynamic in A Christmas Date. Yes, the two sisters butt heads all the time and fight to be better than the other but later on, you understand why these two sisters annoy and fights each other and you can truly see they love each other unconditionally at the end of the book. All and all I absolutely and utter loved and enjoyed everything in A Christmas Date that I would like to continue to read more books by Camilla Isley in the future.

The sweetest Christmas story! Such a fun and festive read. It includes a fake boyfriend, a dating app, and lots of mistletoe.

This book was… childish, but easy, it’s well written but Not exactly deep. It’s petty and bratty, but it’s also funny and quick, it’s a book that I will suggest if you are desperate to fill your time while on the train home or between a good read and an other, It’ll take you less than a couple of hours to read it and It’ll make you enjoy life away from family during the holidays. The plot is pretty easy, the protagonist hires a professional to pretend to be his boyfriend at a family gathering, the actual book has more to it than that, the characters are incredibly petty and childish but Santa will do its magic, doesn’t he always do?

I wanted the equivalent of a Hallmark movie in novel form but this fell short. Just wasn't for me--DNF.

I loved this book. I especially love Christmas romantic books. Nikki has never liked the Christmas season but this year is the worst. Her younger sister just announced her engagement to her boyfriend, a man Nikki has crushed over for years. Nikki, in a jealous reaction, tells her Mom she is bringing her own boyfriend home for Christmas. Big problem - Nikki is single! She's desperate to find someone to pretend to be her boyfriend, so she finds Diego, a poor actor in need of a job. I loved the character of Diego and how convincing he was as her fake boyfriend.
The story was predictable but it was so great to read it to the end.

A Christmas Date features so many of the things I love in a holiday read: it’s sweet, kinda cheesy, funny, and romantic. It had great characters that were easy to root for, and the story left me with the warm fuzzies. I liked that it was a bit of a different spin on the fake dating trope, and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the concept of dreading going home for the holidays and having to deal with millions of questions, feelings of inadequacy, etc.

If you’re looking for a fun and festive read, be sure to pick up a copy of A Christmas Date.

A Christmas Date by Camilla Isley is a delightfully charming seasonal read that will make you laugh and entertain you for hours.

When Nikki's sister announces that she is engaged to Nikki's best friend and secret crush for years, not only is Nikki devastated she realizes that she can't go home for yet another holiday without a boyfriend. She simply can't take any more probing questions and sorry looks. She devises a plan to hire a model from her agency's catalog to pose as her boyfriend. To get back at her sister she chooses a guy who is her sister's ideal looking guy but so unlike any man she has ever dated.
Devious plan set in motion, they leave for a seven day holiday vacation with her family.
Hilarious, funny and absorbing.
I couldn't put it down and read it in one go.
I loved the characters, the setting, easy banter and steamy attraction. Even though it is not a novel idea it is by far the most alluring one I have read. It is modern and fresh with lots of romance and laughs. Yet it shows very serious dynamics of a family, siblling and friends relationship.

A must read!

A Christmas Date is a holiday romance with some humor. Though it is the third book in a series, you can definitely read this as a stand alone, as I did.

I always enjoy watching and reading rom-coms. If you have seen the movie The Wedding Date, you will see a lot of similarities in Camilla Isley's A Christmas Date. There are some slight differences though that created some enjoyable scenes. When Nikki hires a man to accompany her home for Christmas, she insists that he moves in with her for a couple weeks prior to the homeward visit, so they could spend as much time getting to know each other, and their relationship would be believable. I enjoyed Nikki's roommate's reaction to this plan and her protectiveness of Nikki.

I do wish that there had been less build up to Nikki actually taking her fake boyfriend home for Christmas and more focus on the time spent at home, because I really enjoyed the second half of the book a lot. The scene when Nikki's sister, Julia, cooks a vegan dinner for the family made me laugh out loud. This scene leads into another great scene between the two sisters. I can totally relate to Christmas family drama.
