This was a nice and very informative small book about bees. Being really basic there isn't much else to say about the whole of the subject matter.

The book is informative but with a much younger audience in mind it focuses on giving the information in bitesize and easy-to-understand bites. The writing is broken into small paragraphs that are plainly yet simply written.

Helping the reader there are plenty of bright photographs that help them to understand what they are reading about, especially when the book starts to present the different types of bee species.

This is one book that I would recommend for in a nature-focused home, a library and especially schools.

***I received a free copy to read of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

A nice look into the hive for young readers. I think we are at a time in our environmental journey where we need to save and protect these creatures and this is a great resource for young children to learn the whys and hows.

A great little non-fiction offering for kids and perfectly set for the recommended age group. This book is informative and full of great, bright and clear photos to illustrate the information. I love that they offer extra content online and check out the website for other great non-fiction books about other insects

I enjoyed this book and couldn't believe how much I learned. My grandson, was actually a bit scared of the book as he does not like bees. He was quite interested in learning that there are bees that do not sting. Many books about bees focus on honey bees, but this book showcases 12 different types of bees from around the world. Each two page spread provides information such as habitats, colonies, what they eat. to they sting, size and general global distribution. Most types of bees are illustrated with color images and close-ups. There is some general information about bees as well. Readers will learn many new scientific vocabulary terms in this book, which are defined well in the glossary at the back of the book. If you are looking for a book to introduce the types of bees to children, this is an excellent book to use. This is another non-fiction book that would appeal to younger readers, especially those who do not want to read fiction (i.e. boys in particular because they love bugs). A great addition to any library or primary/junior classroom. There is an app that connects to this book that will enhance what is included, but as this was an ebook, I was not able to use this function. The publisher, Capstone, generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

A quick and easy read about bees, their habitat and the different types of bees. A great read for kids just starting to read non-fiction or looking for information on bees.

Many books on bees available today focus on honey bees. This book provides information to young readers about all the types of bees from around the world. Each of the 12 types of bees has a short, comprehensive account in this book. The profile of relevant information includes details about the habitats and general global distribution. Readers will learn many new scientific vocabulary terms in this book. The glossary in the end pages unpacks the vocabulary terms adequately. Most types of bees are illustrated with color images and close-ups. If you are looking for a book to introduce the types of bees, this is an excellent book to introduce the topic.

There are some gaps in the information regarding the social lives of many bees presented here. The colony fissure happens due to multiple reasons, and not just due to the age of the queen. Tighter copy editing could clarify some lingering questions for the readers.
