I enjoyed A Matter of Indiscretion by Jackie Barbosa. Thank you NetGalley and publisher for an early copy. The opinions in this review are my own.

Thomas Pierce was sent to France to get Subine Rousseau, the illegitimate daughter of Britain's prime minister. This book has lots of adventure, intrigue, cross-country travels, spies, danger, and much more. It was a lot of fun to read. This book is quite steamy so if that is not your thing you may not want to get it but besides that, it was awesome!

ARC

Pleasantly surprised with this book. New Author to me. Interesting premise, great characters who were not afraid of their feelings. Sabine is a determined but not TSTL heroine, with a hero in Toe-maas (Thomas) who is honourable and interesting. Spicier than I was expecting, well written too. Slight quibble, did they have duvets then?

Bought book one of series on strength of this one (was good but disappointingly short)

Half French Sabine is the secret daughter of the British Prime Minister, and Thomas is the young diplomat who has been tasked with getting her to safety in England, as the British government believe her life is in danger.

Sabine does not know her natural father, as she has been loved and cherished by her mother and stepfather, who have both died when the story opens. Her uncle is determined to steal her inheritance and hand her over to the fresh authorities falsely accusing her of being a British spy.

Sabine is determined to escape her uncle’s household, and is saving all the money she earns from breeding Percheron horses for farmers and landowners. She and Thomas are immediately attracted to each other, and when he reveals his true purpose to get her safely to England, she agrees to go with him, but is practical, and wants to take her financial independence, I.e. the horses with her.

What was so refreshing about the book was the way Thomas listens to Sabine and took her wishes into account. He didn’t just steamroller her into his way or the high way. I also loved the way Sabine was depicted as intelligent and capable, and I loved the English lesson scenes. Love scenes are a little more graphic than usual, but well written. This book is not for you if you prefer a less explicit read.

Really enjoyable and interesting.

Thomas Pearce is a new diplomat. He is sent to France to rescue Sabine Rousseau who is the newly discovered illegitimate daughter of Britain's premiere.

As Thomas speaks perfect French, thanks to his Grandmother, he poses as a long-lost cousin bringing Sabine her inheritance. Sabine finds Thomas too attractive to think of as a relative and is released when Thomas tells her why he is in France.

Thanks to Sabine's uncle wanting to use Sabine as a ticket to curry favor with Napoleon, Sabine, and Thomas must make their escape. As the journey to safety, they pose as amorous newlyweds. It isn't too difficult of an act because they are wildly attracted to each other.

I loved this well written erotic historical romance. I liked Sabine. She was self-sufficient thanks to her beloved step-father providing her with horses to breed. Because of her business, she was very practical and wasn't the normal virginal heroine. The romance between Sabine and Thomas was intense. There was a point in the novel where I wondered how the author was going to give them an HEA. I did like the ending.

I know that I must like a book when I start looking through my extensive Kindle library to see if I have any other books by the author. I was excited to see that I had the 2 previous books by this author and after finishing this book, I read the other two. I must say that I enjoyed “A Matter of Indiscretion” the most. The characters are great, and their love story was enjoyable. 4.5 stars for me.

How have I missed out on Jackie Barbosa's books? I can't believe I have just discovered this author - I am looking forward to catching up on her backlist. A Matter of Indiscretion is a lovely, super sexy and steamy romance with interesting characters that you won't want to put down.
Thomas is looking forward to his first assignment for the Foreign Office. He is surprised to learn that he is ordered to France to retrieve the illegitimate child of the PM. What a surprise. He is willing though as this assignment will lead to bigger and better appointments.
Sabine is an orphan who raises horses - she has no idea she is the illegitimate daughter of a powerful man. Thomas portrays himself as a cousin who is delivering family jewelry left to her in a will. Sabine is also upset to learn that her uncle is trying to either marry her off or have her arrested for treason against Napolean.
Thomas convinces Sabine to escape with him to England - this is the start of a sexy back-and-forth between the two. Thomas can't ruin the PM's daughter and Sabine can't seem to keep her hands off Thomas. Is this love or lust?
Sexy, sexy and steamy. Wow, I really loved this book. I loved the characters, I loved the steamy (hot!) scenes and I loved the chase across two countries to deliver Sabine into safety. Very highly recommended. Ms. Barbosa has a new fan!

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't expect this to be an erotica especially for the time period. I thought a lot of the language was inappropriate for the time period and that they got together way sooner than expected. This was a lot sex and very little story. Not impressed.

Well, I like our little heroine. She is very strong and free thinking for her time. Thomas is a young diplomat sent to France to bring Sabine to England. After their initial meeting...the story is mostly riding thru France and having sex.

Thomas Pearce has been notified that his application to the Foreign Office has been approved. He has a talent for languages and hopes to be assigned to a diplomatic post. Preferably, some place warm. When he is sent to France to bring home the illegitimate daughter of premiere before she can be used as a weapon against the the British. Sabine is being taken care of by an uncle who hates her. He would happily hand her over to the French as a traitor. Sabine agrees to go with Thomas as long as her horses go too. They pose as a newlywed couple. Sabine is beautiful and she and Thomas fall in love. Spies, danger and misunderstandings make this relationship difficult to continue, especially due to Thomas' job. There are some very steamy sex scenes. She is daring and adventurous. I liked the story line. it was thrilling and exciting. I received this book from Net Galley and Circe Publishing for a honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is a delicious, erotic filled, historical romance that kept me completely engaged throughout the story. The historical tidbits were perfect for the story and I never felt like it they were dumped on me. I enjoyed the premise of Sabine’s birth as well as the plotline that followed as a result of it. She was a strong independent woman, especially for the time and Thomas understood that about her and supported her in her dreams. Even to his own detriment.

The angst level is very low with just a bit of an elevation toward the end but that tiny bit was enough to really bring the ending into a place of sheer joy. Secondary characters are varied and fluctuate throughout the story with only one or two remaining consistent and do not outshine the hero and heroine. The heat level is extreme as in be prepared for your Kindle to melt.

I really enjoyed Sabine and Thomas and their relationship. I am definitely going to check out other books in this series.

Newly minted diplomat Thomas Pearce is sent to France, because of his near-native acumen with the language, to retrieve the love child England's Premiere and Head of State, William Pitt, has just learned about. Pitt's daughter, Sabine, is dependent on the largess of her late adoptive father's brother, who despises her and is preparing to turn her over to Napoleon Bonaparte's secret police on the grounds that she is a traitor aiding the British. Sabine is only interested in her Percheron horse breeding operation, hoping to squirrel away enough money to secure her own independence. Presenting her with a letter written by her natural father, along with evidence of her uncle's duplicity, Thomas is able to convince Sabine to willingly accompany him to the safety of England, as long as he brings her two most beloved Percherons along too. As they travel the countryside posing as newlyweds, the sexual tension and attraction blooms and grows between Thomas and Sabine. Though his position as a diplomat at the mercy of the British government means they can never truly be together, that doesn't stop them falling in love. A jealous carriage driver, enamored of Sabine is determined to keep them apart and turn her against Thomas. All of the players in this game of intrigue have their own agendas and Sabine must determine if anything that has passed between herself and Thomas is the result of genuine feelings, on both sides, or a result of his diplomatic efforts to gain her trust and cooperation through her love and feelings for him.

As they journey through France, Thomas and Sabine are inextricably drawn together and their relationship is quite steamy, so if you prefer behind-closed-doors love scenes, this one is probably not for you. However, despite the fact that there are a lot of very steamy scenes, which are important to the development of the relationship between Sabine and Thomas, don't think this book is nothing but steam and no substance; there are still spies and intrigue and dangerous plots. Sabine was one of the most likable heroines I've read in some time. She was mature and bright and willing to think and ask questions without jumping to naive conclusions. There were so many logical reasons, acknowledged by them both, for this couple to be apart that I was a bit unsure how the author would resolve their happy ending. It was refreshing to read about a couple who were truly willing to wait and fight for the opportunity to be together.

On another note: as a linguist myself I appreciated the author's discussion of and poking fun at the workings of English and French and her knowledge of the mistakes native French speakers would logically make when learning English. Furthermore, as a horse person I was also pleased with Ms. Barbosa's demonstrated knowledge of breeds of draft horses, so well done, ma'am, I applaud you.

This was such a sweet story, a pleasure of a romance-made me so happy on a cold gloomy day. Cute.

Thomas Pearce, a foreign diplomat, is charged with tracking down Sabine Rousseau, the illegitimate daughter of Britain’s prime minister, before her uncle can turn her over to Napoleon. Upon first meeting Thomas, Sabine believes him to be a distant relative, a story concocted by Thomas to aid in gaining entrance to her home. She soon discovers her parentage and is taken aback by her uncle’s treachery but not at all surprised. After agreeing to flee, Sabine and Thomas find themselves having to travel to Paris as husband and wife, in order to escape attention. What follows is several very passionate encounters, that will leave them struggling with their feelings for each other.
The romance between the couple is very intense but I found this to be well written and not gratuitous. There was never a time that the romance overtook the storyline. I was quite impressed with Thomas as he showed tremendous maturity in his care for Sabine and likewise, her love for him is in no way rushed nor unbelievable given the short time they are together. A great read and I look forward to reading more from Jackie Barbosa.
