Took me a while to get into but over all I did enjoy it way more then I thought I would . Definitely a book that you need to take your time with even though it's a thriller

This book was enjoyable, but the characters were a bit complicated to keep track of, and to keep each storyline going. Its definitely worth the read, but you should only read when you have a lot of time to focus on the book.

This reads great as a standalone, as I did not know this was #2 in a series. I will go back and read the first just because I loved this one. Great read. Highly recommend. Page turner. Keep them coming!

A young woman accuses a prominent local college athlete of rape. Convicted with the help of undisputable DNA evidence, the athlete swears his innocence and threatens both his lawyer and his accuser as he's sent to prison. Robin Lockwood is a young lawyer with a prestigious small law firm is representing the victim of the first rape for her civil lawsuit against her rapist. As that case begins to move forward, the rapist is released on bail when there's another rape and the DNA test shows that the same person committed both rapes. This is not possible as the man convicted of the first rape was in prison at the time of the second one. When his original lawyer disappears and his law partner is murdered, the case gets more complicated. The young woman is being threatened and stalked thus intimidating and scaring her. How does all this fit together. Can Robyn sort this all out and get justice for her client or is justice even being served?

The Perfect Alibi was another great addition to this series from Phillip Margolin. The series is fast paced as it follows along from the beginning of a case, the investigation and court room appearances all of which keep the pages turning as the twists and turns come. One thing I like is that although this is the main case Robyn is dealing with, she also deals with others which makes it more realistic. Robin is a well-developed female protagonist. The plot is intricate with perfectly timed twists. I really enjoyed this story until the final reveal, which knocked off a star in my rating. I found it to be implausible and not feasible. I read the last few chapters twice thinking I missed something. I did enjoy the story and will be looking forward to more to come in this thrilling legal series.

The Perfect Alibi by Phillip Margolin

Brief Summary: Robin Lockwood finds a young woman in her office looking to file a civil suit against a wealthy college football player convicted of raping her at a frat party. When another young woman is raped by a man named Ray; the plot thickens as his DNA is the same even though the football player was in jail at the time. He is released on bail and given a new trial. Lockwood is also working on a capital murder charge that should have been dismissed as self-defense; leaving her to juggle both impossible cases. This is the second book in the Robin Lockwood series but could be read as a stand-alone novel. I greatly enjoyed the first book in the series and was eager to read this one.

This is an easy to engage in story. I was not as sucked into this one as I was the previous book in the series; even as a die hard SVU fan. Some of the connections were hard to put together and I felt like I had to suspend reality to buy into some aspects of the story.

I really enjoyed this one!
Switching back and forth between point of views was fairly smooth and easy to follow.

This book sounds amazing, but at this time it just isn’t for me. I think it will be great when I am ready to come back to it!

Robin Lockwood is an MMA fighter, as well as a dogged young lawyer who has a bright future at a prestigious firm. So when a young woman and her mother comes in to her firm looking to sue the wealthy young man who raped her, Lockwood is ready to take the case. But the case gets muddied really fast when the accused's DNA ends up on two different victims, which is impossible, because the perpetrator was in jail when the second victim was attacked.

While it's always fun to get a new scientific tidbit, I just could not see how this stands apart from all of the other crime/law dramas out there. The characters were hollow and the drama was a bit tired. These would probably be best suited as quick beach reads.

I really enjoyed this title! The book was well written and intricate! I enjoyed the plot line and story and all of the characters. I also really enjoyed how different and original the story felt, Maintaining it's place in a very over crowded genre with a similar idea, it stood out.

The Perfect Alibi, book #2 in the Robin Lockwood series and the first that I have read has introduced me to another great female lead and one of the better characters in modern crime dramas. Ex-MMA fighter and lawyer Robin Lockwood.

A young man in his early twenties was hitting the bag with lackadaisical punches that barely made it move. Robin judged his weight at welter, around 147 pounds, slightly more than her 140, and she couldn't see an ounce of fat on him.
'That's Mitch Healy. He just won his first two MMA fights and his head is swelling. Want to take him down a peg..."

Robin Lockwood's day started well, a strong workout and a client load that was manageable. She was beginning to make a name for herself in the courtroom and in her office waited two women. A mother and a daughter, they wanted to hire her in a civil matter. The young woman had been raped by a wealthy local college athlete and they wanted to sue the football player once his criminal case was over with. The young man's reputation was that of a bully and privileged, add on the DNA evidence and the case looked like a slam dunk. The next case was a court appointed capital murder. A bar fight with an off duty cop that ended up with the cop dead and her client, a multiple offender, charged with murder and a death penalty looming.

The death penalty case would be difficult as she was facing District Attorney Rex Kellerman. Kellerman has a reputation for doing what every was necessary to win. If he had to bend the rules from time to time, Kellerman had no issue doing it. The case was not about justice for Kellerman, it was about winning and he was not going to lose to a new girl on the block like Robin.

Robin wins her murder case and proves that Kellerman broke the rules, earning him a reprimand from the court and Robin his anger.

The rape case is over and Robin is preparing her civil suit when another case walks in her office.

"...Miss Lockwood?' the woman asked.
Robin was certain that she'd seen the woman before, but she couldn't place her.
'I'm Marsha Armstrong.'
Robin didn't she'd ever talked to Marsha, but she remembered seeing her at a few bar functions. 'Of course, Doug Armstrong's wife. Are you here to see me?'
'Yes.' It was obvious that Marsha was upset,
'Come on back,' Robin said.
While Marsha took a seat, Robin shut the door to her office. Doug's wife sat up straight, her back rigid and her hands tight jon her purse like a drowning woman clutching a lifeline.
'How can I help you?' Robin asked as soon as she was seated.
'Doug's been arrested.'
'What! Why?'
"They're saying he killed Frank..."

Robin Lockwood takes the case, knowing it's going to pit her once again with Rex Kellerman the District Kellerman. But what Robin doesn't know is that the DA has a personal stake in this case. Kellerman was to put Armstrong in prison and he wants to embarrass Robin professionally. To make matters worse, there was a second rape and the DNA evidence points to Robin's client's rapist as being the perpetrator. But that is impossible, he has been in prison so how could he commit the rape? This earns him a new trial and release on bail, which puts Robin and her client on alert, because he has vowed revenge on everyone who put him in jail.

The Perfect Alibi is one of the few perfect crime/mystery thrillers going right now and the characters drive the novel without slowing it down in down. The dialogue is crisp and the action tense and unpredictable. Margolin does his craft honor by working several plot lines at once and not losing a thread in any of them. Nothing is what it seems and the reader has the sense of it early on, but nothing too clear and nothing to easy to guess at. No it is tantalizing and Margolin controls pace and story like a master puppeteer.

Rockin' Robin Lockwood is a great main character and she drives this novel, navigating twists and turns, downhill, with nary a tap on the brakes. I have to admit that I picture Rhonda Rousey, the MMA fighter not the wrestler (no they're not the same person, they just inhabit the same body) when I read this tale as Rockin' Robin but that did not last long. The character is just too well defined for that.

A good crime novel, a good mystery, a good story. Don't miss this one!

This gave me Jodi Picoult vibes. She’s one of my favorite authors, so I definitely enjoyed reading this.

This was a DNF for me. It had potential but I just couldn't get into the story. This felt like it was attempting to tackle mutltiple things.

I am not going to get into the plot of the book. You can read the blurb. I am just going to put down my thoughts. I am going to make this short and sweet.I was so surprised how much I loved this book. I
I love my thrillers and this one was a gripping read. I couldn't put it down. I finished it in two days. I just was so intrigued to find out what was going to happen next. I just loved the plot. I loved almost everything about this book. It could of been a five star read. Until... It started to get impausible, farfetched a couple of times. It had me LMAO! I was shaking my head, rolling my eyes and I am still giggling about it. This was a delicious read, like eating sweet candy then sucking on a lemon and becoming bitter. Even though it was farfetched, I still loved this book. When a book has me laughing, that's a damn good book.

Phillip Margolin is one of my favorite authors and I have been reading his books for years. My favorite of his was Gone But Not Forgotten. I can't wait to read his next book, they are always addicting reads.

Phillip Margolin delivers a twisty, tale that keeps delivering surprises. Robin Lockwood is the strong female protagonist. She is a lawyer with a history as an MMA fighter. Robin is accustomed to taking a variety of cases, so when a young woman comes to her accusing a prominent college football student of rape, she agrees to argue the case. With DNA evidence and a witness supporting the accusation the case looks like a slam dunk. Robin wins her case, and the cocky football player is sent to prison. Robin starts to prepare a civil damages lawsuit on behalf of her rape victim. Everything is going according to plan, when a new rape victim steps forward and the DNA comes back to the same football player, everything is tossed upside down since he was locked up at the time when the second rape occurred. A judge decides to release the football player on bail, pending a thorough investigation of the DNA results. The football player disappears while out on bail, and all hell breaks loose when the primary partner at the law firm that defended the football player is murdered, and the lawyer that defended him in the original rape trial goes missing.

The story is quite the rollercoaster and it ends in a twist. A worthwhile read from an established, consistent author. Novel provided by Netgalley.

I had such high hopes for THE PERFECT ALIBI! I was excited about the description I read and really thought this book would be an easy 5 star read. It didn’t live up to the hype I placed around it and that’s okay.

This story reads like a multi-faceted soap opera. There were stories within stories that the reader could have gotten lost in if they missed a small detail. The plots did not mesh well together and the ending left me wondering what did I actually read.

To provide a little background: This is a book in a series surrounding a lawyer named Robin Lockwood. The first story revolved around a civil lawsuit surrounding a rape victim and the steps she must go to obtain a conviction. While she focuses on that case she picks up another client who is facing a murder charge.

The reader had twists and turns but there was a lack of cohesiveness that would have made this story an excellent read.

I always love a Phillip Margolin book and this one did not disappoint. Terrific, fast-paced, legal thriller that keeps you turning the pages. Always a great reading experience. Keep them coming!

The Perfect Alibi is a good thriller with lots of twists and turns. It also has a lot of plots going on. This book is written well and I liked how well developed the characters were.

I like this series because I really like the lead character, Robin Lockwood. This one was good, but maybe had a little too many storylines going on at one time.
