If I had to choose one word to describe this book, it would be RELEVANT. It is SO SO relevant right now with the #MeToo movement. As a rape victim myself, this was a very accurate portrayal from my own experience.

The Perfect Alibi by Phillip Margolin is another Robin Lockwood . Robin is a devoted lawyer who always finds a way to help her clients and investigate their crimes. She is not swayed by any friendship she might have for someone she suspects might have committed a crime or even a murder. SHe doesn't give up once she feels she can solve a crime and protect her clients. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next chapter in Robin's life.

An intriguing theme with countless plot twists, but Margolin fails to enchant readers completely probably due to lack of a solid base. For Margolin fans, the book could be good reading but ok reading otherwise. Complete review on website.

I gravitated toward this book because the synopsis intrigued me. I especially enjoyed the female characters in the storyline. Most of the men, however, were not likable and about 55% of the way through the book there was just too much corruption to the story. Many cases were being prosecuted and storylines interweaving (which is usually fine when I read), but there seemed to be a lack of cohesiveness in the stories, and the middle of the book felt heavy and clunky. The story started to pick up again around the 72% mark and went pretty fast after that.

The book had an Interesting outcome, and there were some good surprises. This book just felt like there was too much going on in and didn’t flow as well as Margolin’s other books. It was a good read nonetheless.

This book is a great read. Nothing earth shattering, but oh so fast paced and satisfying. Margolin manages to keep the reader engaged by having a very strong plot, surrounded by several interwoven subplots.

The heroine is a lawyer, Robin Lockwood, whose intelligence and feistiness are very appealing to readers. The plot concerns a rape, very appropriate during this “me too” era, but not even this plot point is simple. There is also the division between the poor and the wealthy, and the way they face the justice system.

The book also focuses on all the characters surrounding this case. I found each character to be well-drawn and necessary to propelling the plot forward. Yes, some are stereotypical, but still interesting.

There is a fine sense of closure with all the subplots coming together.

I honestly could not have found a better novel to curl up with this weekend. Keep Robin fighting, bring on more of her cases.

I wanted to like this book more than I did, mostly because the blurb intrigued me, a rich guy rapes a girl and ends up in jail, only to have his DNA show up in a rape while he's in there.. sounded good, something that maybe could lead to me not predicting the outcome, what I got though, was this was actually a sort of mini case in a bunch of other cases. A lawyer with several cases and a few of them overlap. It was intriguing enough to keep me reading, some parts I felt like there were too many threads, too much going on, it felt fractured and scattered. I didn't feel it was cohesive while I was reading it. It all came together and everything was resolved beautifully at the end, but I wasn't anchored while reading it. I like the flow to flow, and the reason I requested this book wasn't that prominent of a storyline. I think the blurb in the back should have stated something differently. This was basically a book about a lawyer in an up and coming law firm with multiple different cases on her desk, some intersecting, with a pretty nice twist at the end that was somewhat surprising.

Mr Margolin will hopefully excuse me when I say that it seems as if he has been around seemingly for ever and his talent, experience and knowledge shines through in this, the second of what I hope is a long-lasting series.

I will not give the plot away but the book is pacy, packed with action and the characters are well drawn and totally credible.

I was drawn in from the beginning and finished the book in about three sittings and will now be reading its predecessor.

Highly recommended.

The Perfect Alibi by author Phillip Margolin is a great mystery/thriller. The characters are well structured and the plot line is thick and greatly developed, pulling you in from the beginning and holding you until the end. I would absolutely recommend this book to mystery lovers!
