'Fire-Hot Aunt Vol. 1' by Katsuki Izumi is a manga about a young man attending school with his beautiful same-age aunt.
Toru's mother and grandmother both got pregnant at the same time. That means Toru's aunt Sugako is the same age as him. When they end up in the same high school, trouble happens. Sugako only sees Toru as her cute adorable nephew at the age of about 6. Toru doesn't like his aunt treating him with familial affection, especially in front of Mochida, the girl he has a crush on. Toru's aunt has some other weird qualities: she's amazingly good at hitting home runs in softball, really doesn't like people calling her old, and is secretly a mythological creature.

At first, I wasn't sure about the idea of the premise, but I didn't have anything to worry about. The art is fun, as are the stories. I liked this comedy of errors with a supernatural element.

I received a review copy of this manga from Akita Publishing Co. Ltd. and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this manga.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me have an online review copy of this manga.

Unfortunetely, I didn't connect with the story at all. I thought it was very repetitive, I didn't connect with any of the characters. The summary sounded promising but I think this manga wasn't for me.

Title: Fire Hot Aunt
Author: Katsuki Izumi
Genre: Manga
Rating: **
Review: The synopsis of Fire Hot Aunt is interesting: “Toru, who just became a high school student, ends up going to school and living with Sugako, who is his aunt and is also the same age as him. The super-beauty Sugako stirs up all kinds of trouble. What will Toru do...?!”
It turns out that Toru’s Grandmother gave birth at 50 to Sugako so she is his mother’s sister but also happens to be the same age as Toru which he finds a little disturbing as she acts more like an aunt than someone their age. I loved how Sugako is constantly seeing Toru through a lens that makes him seem like a baby rather than the teenager he is but they do have quite a strong relationship.
We soon learn that there is a reason behind Sugako moving in with her nephew and sister aka Toru and his mother. We learn that she was quite a delinquent and got into a lot of trouble in her old school so moved to make a new start. Sugako has major anger issues especially when it comes to people calling her old because she is Toru’s aunt. While this sets up a lot of interesting and comedic situations that is all this manga is about and as the series progresses it may get a little more serious but so now it was a quick and fun read but not much else.

An interesting and original premise, however the dynamic between the two main characters was too odd to make sense. It had funny parts and a good twist

This was a fun read. Tour has just started high school and finds out that his aunt who is the same age is also joining his school and moving in with him. His aunt happens to be very cute and this combination causes him lots of discomfort and wwkward situations as he tries to cope. The artwork is good and the story is well paced and keeps you interested. Looks to be an inter sting series with a unique story.
