It's not often that I have to give up on a book and this was one. I just couldn't get into the story and it needs editing as I found a few spelling mistakes. I would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review.

I love the idea of an isolated cottage, but I did not like much the characters and the plot. A bit complicated for me.
Thank you Netgalley for this book.

Characters and family members present and past often become confusing and are not well defined, especially in the beginning. It was sometimes difficult to determine which characters were in conversation. It contains a fair amount of profanity and a lot of unnecessary detail of sex and sexual exploits with an unrealistic affair turned to long term marriage. I thought it rather odd that the main character, Lucy, was a graying aging blonde, so normally one thinks over 40,then she suddenly becomes very fertile and has four children? The storyline could make for a good novel but as others have noted, it seems rather scattered at times. Some hint of paranormal events but not to excess. It is a quick read. I prefer more realistic characters.
I read this book as a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

This, to me, was a truly weird story. I didn't feel it was particularly well written, seemed to jump about too much and some of the sentences were ungrammatical, or perhaps just not edited.
The people....well, Alistair was the most awful personality and I have never actually met anyone who would rant and rave in public in that manner. Gramps seemed a bit of a feeble character. In fact no one really stood up for their beliefs and rights.
Not a book for me.
But thank you Net Galley for a review copy.

I am not sure about this one. There was certainly an element of evil. Add in paranormal and the book just had so much going on. I did not like Fraser very much. He just seemed immature and self centered. He was just too needy for my taste. But I guess that is what made him a good character. The lawyer could have been the center of the story but I felt it was Lucy that carried the story. I like the story, just did not love it.
