Good girl law student Olivia Amorelli can't believe she's stuck in a class with visiting defense attorney Connor Hughes as the professor. Sure he's sinfully sexy and nice to look at but the way he manipulates the law rubs her the wrong way. Too bad her libido overrules her brain when he tempts her into a forbidden romance.
This one was just an ok read for me. There was something about the flow of the story that just didn't work for me. Also, I never really connected with these characters.
I absolutely love the Harlequin Dare series as the stories are always engaging, and sexy with a high dose of heat. I loved Olivia and Connor's story as it was delicious and forbidden with an emotional touch!! I seriously cannot wait for the more from this author!
I would like to thank Netgalley and Harlequin for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Bravo! ~4 stars! ~Ratula
“Her Guilty Secret” is full of hot, sexy, passionate and swoon-worthy characters- a must read. Clare Connelly is a master at sexy, thrilling romance. Would recommend
Always the good girl Olivia follows the rules and does what she is suppose to. She’s close to graduation and becoming a lawyer, but there is one thing that just might get in her way. Her professor. Connor has made a life for him self being a defense lawyer but his last case has made it so he’s not sure about anything taking a job teaching should help right?
They can’t stop the attraction between the them but acting on it could get them both into serious trouble. Olivia May walk on the wild side and Connor may find that piece of goodness but will they survive?
I LOVED this book and could not put it down! Connor and Olivia have a forbidden relationship in the context of the law school setting, Connor as professor and Olivia as student. Fantastic sexual tension maintained throughout this book. I loved the intensity, the layers and depth of the main characters, it was well edited and the writing was intelligent, suiting the intellect of the main characters. The ending was good, and didn't feel necessarily predictable because the characters were well fleshed out. I have read other books from this author before and enjoyed them, but this one is particularly memorable.
At first I didn't think this was going to be a romance I connected with but about 1/3 of the way through I decided I really liked the dynamic between the two characters. I also thought it was going to be super predictable and the main struggle was going to be so obvious. It was and it wasn't, in a good way. I found that I didn't want to put it down and will certainly give the author's other work a try.
This book just wasn't for me.
This is about a college professor and a student having a relationship. Except the relationship happens very fast and goes into things very suddenly and without much communication. The guy is also extremely possessive from the beginning and not in a good way in my opinion.
I would so go to law school anywhere if my teacher was Connor Hughes. Olivia Amorelli, has her hands full with this guest lecturer. The banter between these two was hot, and the fact that their romance is forbidden, adds a spark to this story. I very much enjoyed it, didn’t want to put it down. Honestly, I was hoping they would get caught and see what would happen. Gotta read the book to find out.
This story is about a brilliant, passionate, idealistic third year law student who is drawn to her visiting professor. She is all that is good, and he, being a criminal defense lawyer who just turned the legal world upside down with his successful defense of a horrible human being, is everything dark and conflicted.
This book was so much more than a steamy read, but it was definitely steamy. There was actually quite a lot to take in about the story--which I prefer. It is very well written without much gratuitous filthy language. The history that drives each character is complex and similar, yet you see a constant yin/yang duality in the writing of their relationship. Connor and Olivia have challenging philosophical discussions about the structure of law and equal representation with plenty of sexual tension to spare.
Clare Connelly's writing is smart, incisive, and full of thoughtful details about law studies and what it's like to grapple with an imperfect system. She writes a strong female character in Olivia, who knows what she wants and is not willing to compromise. Connor is handsome, brooding, and conflicted. His appeal is his brilliance and his absolute attraction to the good in Olivia. Their attraction is powerful, and the resolution lives up to the expectation of such an explosive couple.

Omg. This was 100% smut and I loved it. I needed to escape from the world for a bit and become immersed in a fictional one that allowed me to shut off my thoughts and emotions for a bit. And this did exactly that.
There was definite chemistry between the two characters, Olivia and Connor. Each page practically sizzled. But it wasn’t just physical. They mentally waged war as well and those may have been my favorite part.
Her Guilty Secret has more depth than I thought it would and I thought it counterbalanced the romance wonderfully.
Steamy romance with a great storyline. The characters are compelling and I wanted more! This line of Harlequin is better than I remember. I look forward to more by this author!
Her Guilty Secret is a hot, edgy book. A superb plot and dialogue kept the story flowing. ENjoyed the story from start to finish.
The POVs switched without warning, and the layout in the review copy wasn't great. I had some issues with folks from across the pond sounding exactly like folks from the US, and the characters, while not flat, weren't super-compelling, or even believably connected, especially after the summer law "do." Just a "meh" read for me overall, though it wasn't irredeemable.
These characters were incredibly fun and sexy. The storyline was a little annoying, but really, who cares with characters like this?!
I was very drawn by the description. I had really high hopes. I was let down! It was a true struggle getting through this book.. (It took me 2 weeks)... The characters did not interest me. I didn't feel a connection between them, so when they decided to declare their love for one another, I had to go back and see where was the connection.
This book was ok. It started pretty hot and heavy and then seemed to die out. I never really understood how his parents being killed in a terrorist attack made him become a defense attorney. I liked how strong the heroine was, even though he seemed to think of her as some young innocent
This was a steamy quick read romance! The story line around their law careers and how it ended made for a very happy ending! I read this book in a couple of hours because I didn’t want to put it down!
Her Guilty Son by Clare Connelly was just an ok read for me. This is the second book I've read by the author and I just think unfortunately her writing style just doesn't work for me.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.
I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Wasn't a big fan of the format of the story. Seems out of sort, disorganized and was a turn off. Besides that, the POV changed so often that it was kind of hard to decipher who was talking at the time and threw off the flow of the entire story. Definitely wasn't engaging enough and the characters... What a joke.
Overall, the summary was a lot more entertaining than the actual story itself. Not worth the time nor effort to finish it in it's entirety.
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
