I’m a sucker for English countryside murder mysteries and this one didn’t disappoint. I loved the dynamics between Kat and Mouse. It’s been a long time since I read a book with 3rd person omniscient point of view. It was a refreshing change and it worked well with this book since there were a handful secondary characters. I definitely recommend and will be following this trilogy.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily chose to review.

I am a big fan of Anita Waller's books. I loved Captor & 34 days. This one I didn't love. It was hard for me to keep interested and found a little boring. Not my favorite. I still plan on reading all her books.

Katerina better known as Kat is out having a dinner date with her husband Leon. Kat and Leon come upon the incident when heading home. Kat becomes intrigued with the shooting and becomes friends with Mouse and her aunt Nan. The three decide to investigate.

Well who'd have thought it? Here we have a Kat and Mouse game of the highest calibre. Waller, as usual has surpassed expectations. She shows her versatility as a writer by taking us into the world of cosy crime with an edgy gritty underbelly searing through it. Her characterisation is great and I was drawn into both women's worlds. Five stars from me.

Beth, otherwise known as Mouse to those who love her, has been working as an escort and saving money whilst studying for her degree at university. Kat is living a blissful life with her vocation as Church Deacon whilst married for the last four years to her husband Leon, a very successful businessman. One night whilst taking a taxi to back to his home with her gentleman client, Kat and the man are hijacked by the driver, thrown out into a back alley and shot. The man dies and the gunman flees, also believing that Kat is dead. The victims are discovered by Kat and Leon, and for some reason Kat believes it is her duty to look after Mouse, bringing the girl back to her home to recover. She even takes in Kat's grandmother, the extraordinary Nan, after more attempted murders take place. And there the adventure starts. Putting their three heads together and combining various talents, legal and illegal, Kat, Mouse and Nan embark on an investigation into murders old and new. This is an excellent read with wonderful rich characters and a great plot that never has a dull moment. I was very glad to hear that this is the first part of a trilogy as I can't wait to read more of their exploits. Absolutely recommended!!

Murder Undeniable – Anita Waller
“Murder Undeniable” is subtitled “A gripping Kat and Mouse murder mystery” and I found myself immediately wondering who or what the Kat and the Mouse may be. As I found out, Kat is Katerina Rowe, a deacon at a church in a small town called Eyam. The Mouse is the nickname of Beth, a badly beaten woman Katerina and her husband, Leon, find in an alley – along with the body of Anthony Jackson. So begins a drama that pulls Kat and Leon into the frey. Kat, Mouse and Doris, Beth’s grandmother, start to piece together exactly what happened – a search that takes them back 15 years. Fast forward back to the present, and these ladies find themselves in harm’s way. “Murder Undeniable” is undeniably catchy. No time is wasted in getting to the drama and action; the characters are impressive and believable. The story is well-structured and flows well. A very enjoyable read.
