Melinda Leigh is one of my favourite authors. I have to say I didn't enjoy this book as much as I have done her other ones. The book is fast paced and the worth reading just not up to her usual standards in my opinion.

I was so glad to read this next adventure of Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger. They are both such fantastic characters that I would like any storyline the author wrote about them. This one had a great mystery, and I really loved seeing Morgan and Lance working together to figure things out. As usual, the family members of Morgan and Lance gave an extra, great layer to the story.

Tina came home from work one night to a completely dark house. That was unusual- her husband Paul always left a light on for her when she worked the late shift. She entered her home anyway, only to find a disaster had occurred. Not only was Paul deceased, but her son, Evan, was nowhere to be found. Tina had no idea what happened in her home, but she knew she needed help from someone who would find Evan quickly and keep his best interests at heart. So she called Lance- the Scarlet Falls P.I. who just happened to be Evan’s hockey coach. The police might treat Evan as a suspect, but she knew Lance and Morgan would look out for him. Now if only they can find him first.

I’m a huge fan of this series, and this one did not disappoint. As usual, Lance and Morgan use their wits and their resources to come to smart conclusions. They have a great cast of support- from Sharp to Morgan’s grandfather and Lance’s mother. I also think Olivia Cruz has been a great addition for the last two books. I love the back and forth with her and Sharp, as well as the Princess Bride references.

While there is character and relationship growth as the series progresses, there is not really a continuing mystery storyline through the individual books. So if this is the first one you can get your hands on, go for it. You’ll probably end up wanting going back to get the rest of the series though. The writing for the entire series is fantastic. The research is fantastic. Typically,mysteries do not earn a fifth star from me as that usually takes a good bit of emotion for me too. But i feel like the work Ms. Leigh has done merits rounding up now and again. i can't wait for the next installment.

I have run out of superlatives with which to describe Melinda Leigh’s Morgan Dane series, now in its fifth outing with SECRETS NEVER DIE. Ms. Leigh does police procedurals to perfection, and SECRETS NEVER DIE is no exception-- and is, perhaps, one of her most engrossing and unpredictable cases to date. On top of the perfectly-paced action and stellar writing, Lance (be still, my heart!) and Morgan (I want to be you when I grow up) and their relationship are icing on the cake… even when the relationship doesn’t feature very prominently (if you’re looking for true romance/RS, or heat, look elsewhere). Sharp and Olivia’s budding romance is an added bonus, and I can’t wait to see how that plays out. SECRETS NEVER DIE is not officially even out yet and I’m already impatiently waiting for the next one in September!

Secrets Never Die by Melinda Leigh is the book to go to after you experience that phenomenon ( and it does happen ) . It is such a good read. I love this author as you always get what you are promised in the premise of the storyline.
Great story, well written and amazing characters come to life on the pages with this book. I was hooked from the start.
Well worth a read.

This latest in the Morgan Dane series finds Morgan and Lance living together in the middle of a remodeling project and with Morgan's girls recovering from a bout of flu. When the phone call comes at 1:39 AM telling them that one of Lance's hockey players is missing and his stepfather - a retired sheriff's deputy - murdered, Morgan and Lance immediately go to try to find Evan Meade.

The Sheriff soon begins to suspect the Evan is not a victim but, rather, is the killer. Evan has had some trouble with the law and was recently seen arguing with his stepfather. But Lance is certain that Evan is a victim and is determined to find him.

Looking for Evan means looking into his stepfather Paul's death. The more they investigate, the more questions they have. First Paul's former partner is a suspect, but then he disappears under suspicious circumstances, and they are back to the beginning of their investigation again.

Then a secret from Evan's mother's past turns the investigation in a new direction... While Lance's partner Lincoln Sharp and investigative reporter Olivia Cruz pursue the new lead. Morgan and Lance continue the hunt for Evan and deal with three-year-old Sophia's trip to the ER with flu and a raging fever.

I enjoyed the sections from Evan's point of view which gave us lots of information about him and the trouble he was going through as he ran from the man who killed his stepfather, dealt with a gunshot wound in his arm, and wondered who he could trust.

I also enjoyed the excitement and fast pace of this story. It was a great blend of pulse-pounding action and danger and chaotic family moments. Did I mention that Lance and Morgan are also supposed to be planning their wedding?

This is the 5th Morgan Dane book and as with the others an enjoyable read . Whilst this book can be read as a standalone reading the others in the series gives the characters more depth .
A retired sheriff’s deputy is shot to death in his home and his troubled teenage stepson, Evan, becomes the prime suspect .Having witnessed the murder Evan runs , fearing that he will be next and that no one will believe his story . The boy's mother rings Lance begging for his help in finding her son before the police do , fearing for his safety , and protesting his innocence .
The more Morgan and Lance look into the murder the more damming the evidence against Evan becomes . That is until another Deputy is killed ………….. his connection to Evan's stepfather throws the case into chaos .
They must find Evan first as they now believe that he is now the sole target of the killer , who will do anything to protect his identity .

Another gripping fast paced suspense read from this Author . I look forward to the next book in the series .

Well written, easy to read, edge of your seat action, this book was hard to put down. I love the Morgan Dane series and cant wait for the next one.

Another fantastic read by Melinda Leigh and her Morgan Dane series. I just can’t get enough of the dynamic between Morgan and Lance. They make the whole series great. The characters and setting of this book are great. This was such an easy and fast read, I just couldn’t put it down. The storyline was awesome as they were looking for a missing kid who might have shot his stepdad. There were many twists and turns, too many to count. This is definitely a five star read. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Melinda Leigh does it again. I can not get enough of her writing and this series. The stories are always so fast paced and intriguing. Great character development and a story line you can keep up with. Will read anything she come out with.

I always think every book I read of Melinda Leigh's is my favorite, but I mean it with Secrets Never Die! This is a page turner until the very end. You know right away that Evan is not the killer and you root for him up to the end trying to figure out who is. If you are a fan of Melinda Leigh, read this book. You will love it!!

I really enjoyed this entire series by Melinda Leigh and I've read all of them and when I got a chance to read this one early, I did not hesitate. I really like her writing style and the pace of the story. Lance and Morgan are a great couple and their love makes this story that much better. I love the suspense although this one was a bit slower than the 4 previous novels in this series. I loved it and highly recommend it

I love this book. Melinda Leigh is a great story teller. There is a great balance between Morgan and her family, and the dangerous day to day that is her job. Morgan is not a typical lawyer. She goes all out for her clients, often doing a better job than the police. This next chapter of her life has her defending a boy that is missing and accused. Her inner struggles to move forward in her life, are heart warming. As always, the supporting characters make the story ten times better.

Morgan Dane and her fiance Lance Kruger are back on the case after a close friend of Lance's phones him as her husband has been shot and her son Evan is missing. The local cops think that Evan killed him as they were step-family, but Tina knows that her son would never do this. Was it one of Paul's past jobs that got him killed as he was a former sheriff? As the book goes along, we see that Evan is shot and runs for his life, but the longer he is out in the woods - the more suspicious he looks. The truth is though that Evan is more afraid of being murdered in cold blood like his stepfather was. With the police not helping Tina, she asks for the help of Lance and Morgan as the pair try to track Evan down before it's too late as the weather is also kicking up a bit of a storm. We learn about Tina's family and what they are capable of and how she testified and put her father away. Are this Tina's families doing ? Have they somehow tracked her down and wanted revenge? Secrets Never Die another fast-paced romantic suspense and fans of Kendra Elliot's, and Kate Watterson will enjoy. The other good thing about this series is though all the characters connect, the books can be read as stand-alone novels.

Secrets Never Die is a steady and interesting read, with an engaging mystery and quite a bit of tension. In this new addition to the series, the focus stays on the investigation, with the romance taking a backdrop to the plot as the pieces fall together (rather conveniently) to solve the novel’s mystery arc. There isn’t much character or relationship development, but the story does deliver some really intense and lovely character moments.

Melinda Leigh’s writing, once again, captures the reader’s attention right from the very first chapter. This book feels a little bit like a filler, but the narrative is smooth and the shifts in POV are very well done and bring tension to the plot. It’s a very nice set up for the next novel, but feels a little lukewarm in comparison to the previous books in the series.

I just??? Don’t know???? This one didn’t work for me as well as the other books did. It is as if this novel lacks a bit of the charm and the romance and the danger I’ve come to associate with Morgan Dane novels. I guess I just didn’t connect as much to this story as opposed to the previous ones, so I get the feeling that something is missing. It might be that some of the familiar faces we’ve become used to don’t really get that much page time in this book, which just shows how amazing those characters are.

Even so, Morgan and Lance (and Sharp!) continue to be lovely narrators. The different POVs still work rather nicely with Leigh’s plot development, especially as it serves to amp up the tension in regard to the main plot twists and reveals. I do love Sharp chapters in particular, but the action that follows Lance is also great to read about.

The mystery is a bit… meh to me. It’s quite predictable once one piece of information is introduced, and there isn’t really a big twist once you find out who the bad guy is. I guess, with the way things are presented, Leigh offers the possibility of this huge big twist to happen, only not to follow through and pick the easiest and most convenient way for everything to be solved. So that’s a bit of a bummer.

Overall, Secrets Never Die is a nice addition to the series and a good and entertaining read with some action and small sprinkles of romance. The narrative is great as always, even as the mystery falls a little flat. It does set up some nice threads for the next book, so I’m curious to see what’s next for Morgan, Lance, and Sharp!

In this book, an former police officer is found shot in his home and his stepson, Evan, is missing. Morgan and her fiance Lance Kruger are on the case. As time goes on, the focus is on Evan as the suspect. Lance doesn't believe that Evan killed his stepfather and thinks that he is in trouble. Morgan and Lance rush to find Evan and find out who the real killer is before it is too late.

I really like this series and even though they are stand alone, it always helps to read them all in order so you know all the side stories and characters. I think that this one is the best in the series. The suspense is high throughout the book and keeps you reading. It is not just the main story, but the glimpse into the family dynamics. I also like the story line with Lincoln Sharp, who owns the PI firm that Lance works for. Good mystery and great character development make this a must read.

This quickly became one of my favorite and go to series. The storyline is suspenseful and fast paced with characters I have grown to love. They are certainly intense, likeable and I always find myself engrossed in their situations and needing to know what happens next. If you like drama and being edge of your seat then this is a must for you.

This is by far my favorite Morgan Dane Book. I have enjoyed the progression of Lance & Morgan’s relationship throughout the series. It’s like a slow burn on the background. The best part of this book for me was seeing Evan’s struggle throughout the book. In a he past books we didn’t really her from the victim’s POV. I loved hearing my from Sharp!!

This is the best Melinda Leigh book by far. Very suspenseful!!

This is the 5th book to the Morgan Dane series. This story follows Evan, and he’s on the run after witnessing his step father’s murder. The evidence that is left behind at the scene implicates Evan is the murderer but his mother doesn’t believe it, so she calls in a favor to Lance who knows her son from the hockey team he coaches. After another deputy has vanished, time is running out to find Evan and protect him before he becomes the next target.
Twists and turns abound in this next story, I could hardly put it down!

Another great story by Leigh, I can’t wait until the 6th book comes out!

Morgan Dane and company return in Secrets Never Die, Melinda Leigh's fifth installment of the Morgan Dane series. Morgan and fiance Lance Kruger are finally getting some much needed sleep when Lance receives a call from Tina, the mother of Evan - one of the boys Lance coaches in hockey. Tina arrives home from a late work shift to find her husband Paul, a retired sheriff's deputy, murdered and Evan missing. Blood in the house indicates Evan is injured and on the run. Lance joins the search for Evan as Morgan stays with Tina. Tina is desperate to find her son and the local sheriff's department is determined to find Paul's killer. Morgan and Lance are racing against the clock and the elements trying to find Evan as well determine who murdered Paul.

Melinda Leigh does the police procedural/cozy mystery/romantic suspense genre very well and Secrets Never Die is no exception. It's an enjoyable, quick read and this series is highly recommended for fans of the romantic suspense genre.
