Harbinger hardens back to the nautical pulps that were popular once upon a time, featuring grizzled sailors, conniving dames, and smuggling opportunities. It's a buddy story lIke Butch and Sundance, taking place on Florida's enchanted Gulf Coast. Two veterans, former Marines. Trying to etch out a living taking fishing charters, paying bills, drinking, brawling, and womanizing. But, sometimes it happens that no matter how many hours you put in, an honest day's work ain't enough to keep you afloat. So maybe you cut a little corner, and before you know it, you're deeper and deeper in it and the walls start closing in, suffocating you. You make a deal with the devil, you'll be lucky to walk out with all your limbs and all your bodily functions going full steam ahead. Throw in a pair of bewitching, beguiling Polish sisters and a caper so thought out no one could ever be the wiser, and, by George, you got yourself a pretty Good tale.

A bit more romance than I generally like, but the plot was a good one and the writing was above average. Recommended for a good weekend read.
