I read this book from the stand point of being a Christian for over 30 years. I am surprised by this book. For me it lacks compassion and understanding about the initial steps of becoming a Christian and very quickly I felt there was nothing that told someone they are loved as they are. The book appears to be judgemental and critical rather than uplifting and encouraging.
I would advise someone seaking a Christian faith or following a Christian journey to read other books alongside this one - I do not feel it paints a picture of all denominations nor does it appear to instill the importance to love others as God loves each of us.

This book is aimed towards new Christians and wants to give them guidelines on how to find a good church to attend. The book has an English and a Spanish part, so that the book can be used with both speakers of English and Spanish. The content of both parts is identical.
The author seems to come from the Charismatic/Pentecostal direction. This heavily influences his position, especially on the gifts of the Spirits and he also includes a lot of implicit criticism against the Catholic church. And unfortunately, this limits the applicability. I don't want to say that he is wrong, not at all - but if you're a new Christian and you want to get an overview over all the different denominations, this book is not for you. I think that the book might be really great and useful for a church that has a similar theology. They could use it for new members to explain their positions and as an introduction into Charismatic theology. But this book wasn't for me.

Felt a bit judgey and like they were telling you things had to be done a certain way! You DONT have to go to church to be christian but you need to have some form of gathering.
