I got an ARC on this from NetGalley a while back and what with the holidays i just wasnt able to get to it. BOY OH BOY was that a BAD choice! I CANNOT BELEIVE i had this book just sitting there! I loved this book! I loved the characters! I could relate to everything the main character Avery felt for not being a skinny model type and trying to feel comfortable in her jer skin! I wanted to know these people i wanted to hang out with these characters. Heck, i wanted to friend them on faceboook! This is a must read. This book makes us “soft” girls believe there is someone out there who will love us for us!

Goodness.. you know an author has talent when they are able to make you feel all the emotions the characters are going through as if you as the reader were going through them yourself. I can not begin to explain how much I loved this story, how much I could put myself into Avery’s shoes and cry right along with her. I’d always thought that the whole idea of soul mates was a bunch of nonsense but the way that the author weaves that into the story line, it made a believer out of me because the way that these two characters were connected from the beginning? Pure magic.

I loved it so much that I’d so be willing to read a sequel of this book, I’m so not ready to let go of Avery and Declan. 😭

This was a love/dislike book for me. Love the concept, the fact that Avery isn't the typical female character neither the size or temperament. She's a woman in a male-dominated field whose smart and have a hot temper and a mouth like a sailor. I even loved that fact that her and Declan relationship and loge for each other progressed rather quickly However, I didn't care for the attempt at a love triangle between Avery, Declan and Mattie and I didn't care for the excessive amount a drama that plays out midway through the book. Other than a few points I liked this book and liked that it wasn't your typical romance

Wow... this book was so good. It had me hooked from the first page to the last .
I loved Avery, with her wickedly smart mouth, her way she didn't let anyone walk on her( well that's after she finally found herself) to the way she loved her friends fiercely.
Declan was the gorgeous, front man for his rock band. He had demons just like Avery.
They were made for each other..... demons and all, afraid of commitment, had secrets in their pasts but ultimately were soul mates.
Such a great book. Now I need the rest of the characters stories. Books for Katie, Mathias ( yes he has done Demons in his closet I'm sure of it) and the rest of the band.

As daring and seductive as the city of New Orleans itself, this is a story of a woman opening up to herself...and also to a smoking hot rock star with a panty-incinerating Irish accent.

This has always been a city of transgression and possibility, which makes it the perfect backdrop for these characters' journey.

A little bit kinky and a whole lot of fun!

I received an ARC of this book through #Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

No disappointments here. Truly a steamy read, with the things you’d expect in a good one, with some twists. HEA sort of, but it is worked for. The build up is HOT, with plenty of realistic things happening, other chracters to fall in love with, and moving along all the time, never feeling dull or slow.

Avery is curvy, smart, sassy and strong, all the awesomeness needed in a leading lady. Declan, witty, broody, sex on a stick. There early wasn’t much that I didn’t love about this book. The banter of smart*ss comebacks and the joking sexual innuendos thrown around among the close friends may be a little much for those looking for a more sweet, conventional type of romance. If that is your preference, this one may not be for you, but it certainly did it for me!!!

I am super excited about this author and for the books that MUST be coming to complete stories for some of the other characters!!!

I really enjoyed this debut! Avery was a strong independent woman and Declan was to die for! I look forward to reading more by Tricia.

I loved the opening scene of this book, a wax job! Hysterical and it hooked me in, took me for a hell of a ride then spit me out with a few tears at the end. This is my kind of book! This book is amazing and so creative. Such a fun plot line that is so original and it feels so true or real life like. The restaurant scene where the chef comes out and talks to them and makes them a one of a kind dish, so creative! The red hot chemistry between Avery and Declan. The graveyard was so hot and not at all what I was expecting!! The author does an amazing job of infusing life into these characters. I really hope there are more books in this series the author is so talented and I can’t wait to read more!

A story about two people who both live a life in their own darkness that they make. Avery is a beautiful ballbuster in the male dominated engineering field, she is curvy, and her defense mechanism is trying to tear people down with her words before they can hurt her. Declan is sexy, talented, and lives a darkness that doesn’t seem to disappear as his life goes on. When these two meet it’s funny and full of intense chemistry. Even though Avery insults Declan it just makes him want her more. It does take them a few meet ups to get to their decision of having the time of their lives while Avery is visiting his city. They flirt a lot and when they are on scene with each other it’s intense. While Declan is trying to break down Avery’s walls she is again thinking of bailing before he can hurt her. Avery is determined to leave with her heart intact and Declan is determined to keep them going when she leaves. Can Declan and Avery move on and get out of their own way to have the future they both deserve?

Both characters let their past dictate their future and it was really killing my mood while reading. The supporting characters really take the story to a whole other level. They give the main characters a little more depth when they give their advice and cause misunderstandings to unfold within the story. I loved Declan more than I did Avery because he at least tried to fight. Avery didn’t want to fight, she liked to give up and give in. Her self-deprecating attitude really threw me off from her and it lasted until the last few chapters. Declan is a fighter, but he did tend to overreact when confronted with a misunderstanding. There were some scenes that could have used some easing back on the drama but overall, I loved the story. Come meet this gang as they live out their lives down in NOLA and take a ride with them on their adventure.

Loved reading Avery and Declan’s story! As a curvy girl myself, I love reading books that don’t have the typical skinny heroine in them. I love the chemistry between them. And with the snarkiness of Avery, this is a LOL fun book filled with laughs and eventually love. Can’t wait for more!

This book started off really well and I got really into it. I empathised with Avery and her weight dilemma and got angry at the unfair comments that she got from men and the way she was a woman in a man's world being taken advantage of. I loved the idea of her getaway to New Orleans to have an anonymous time having fun with new guys.
Literally running (or stepping ) into the gorgeous Declan she accepts a date with him which turns out to be a dream date until he suddenly has to leave and the confidence that Avery is building up fades and she feels unattractie again. Later Avery and her friend Kat go to a bar and find Declan and his eqaullay hot band playing band in and the scorching hot attractionand the fun banter between Declan and Avery continues. After almost having on a daybed in their hotel courtyard Declan leaves again and finally shatters Avery's again as she feels so fat and unattractive that he does not want to make out with her even as a one night stand.

It is obvious at this point that Avery needs to work on rebuilding her confidence but also that Declan has issues of his own. Declan begs forgiveness and they decide to have fun together until she has to leave, without planning for any future together.

This is when I lost interest in the story, I felt that it was way too much sex and not enough story, I got the super hot sex between them but it just went on and on for pages. After skipping a number of pages, I went to the end to see how it was resolved and all was as it should be. I am not sure what I missed in the middle but and I hate skipping to the end of a book but it was just not to my taste, not being prudish but I prefer more of a story. Sorry Tricia

I received an arc from Netgalley. This is one book I could not put down. The push and pull relationship between Declan and Avery kept you enthralled. My heart tripped for these two when their worst fears ended up happening but the ending was worth it.

I'm going to need more books by this author. As soon as possible. I loved everything about this book. Great settings, laugh out loud banter, some heart breaking angst and the sexy times are smoking hot. Avery is a character so many of us can relate to. Surely we'll get books about some of the secondary characters, right??

This is a raw, dark and emotional read, with well developed characters and great detail to the city of New Orleans. Avery's insecurities were a little too much sometimes, but overall a great book. I would definitely read more by this author.

The description drew me in and I checked out this author’s work for the first time because of it. I was also curious about the hero. I had a love/hate relationship with this story. I enjoyed it yet found myself growing tired of all the literal ball busting comments and actions. Yes, it was part of the character’s traits but it sometimes was a bit much. Also, the scene where the women were discussing their dates’ genitals, etc. in the hotel room in front of the men was awkward. Loved when the story was about the H/H by themselves.

This was a new to me author, and absolutely loved this book, well written and all the characters were interesting really hoping this isn't the last of them.

I love New Orleans and could just picture (smell and taste) everything Avery and Kat got into in the Big Easy.!

I can't wait to read more from this author!

This book had a lot of promise and a lot of elements I liked, but never gelled together into something I was crazy about.

What I liked:
- Atmospheric visit to New Orleans
- The author's unique voice
- The heroine's temper (and to some of the other reviewers who insist romance heroines must be "ladylike"? Please join us in 2018. We won't wait, but will be happy to get you a glass of wine as soon as you've ditched the fainting couch and clutching pearls.)
- The relationship between the heroine and her best friend

What I didn't:
- There was more than a pinch of "not like all the other girls" in Avery. I get that she's defensive (and for good reason) but you don't have to dump on other women to love yourself (the hero at one point thinks there's "nothing to hold on to" on a skinny woman, which...not true and unnecessary)
- I didn't buy an HEA for these two. Don't get me wrong, they were hot as hell. But I thought they both stretched over the line from "has a temper" to "has anger management issues."
- He seemed emotionally stunted to me as well. To say "I don't do relationships" on night 1 and then to get VERY ANNOYED with her for protecting herself the next morning because overnight he's changed his mind but hasn't yet told her? Dude. Use your words.
- Several times they do communicate that they're both ready for more and then somehow an emotional reset button gets hit and they're back to thinking the other thinks it's just a fling for no reason that I could see.
- I'm personally not nuts about a hero who takes out his feels with his fists. And (view spoiler)

So, ultimately, not for me. But, as always, tastes differ and if you give the author a try, I truly hope you do enjoy it!

I was given an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book, fell in love with Avery and Declan. Avery is a person I could relate to with her lack of confidence and self consciousness in herself. She also has the bestest friend in Kat, a bestie everyone should have. And she makes new friends with Declan’s band mates to help her along the way to see Declan’s feelings......I definitely will look for more books by Tricia Lynne
