I felt bored with this book. It was good, but it wasn't great! Maybe it's that romance is typically all that I read and I need to find a new genre for a bit before I read more romance, but to me, there wasn't anything spectacular in this book. Nothing made this book stand out in front of other romance novels that I read. Full of the same annoying banter that seems to be in all the romance novels out there, I felt there wasn't any originality to this book.

Maybe I've just read too many Romance novels, and I'm starting to get bored. It felt full of the same clichés and annoying banter I keep reading in Romances lately. There was absolutely nothing original about it. I pretty much just skimmed through most of it after the first 100 pages in which I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. I got a little excited when I found out that the main protagonist isn't your typical model type, but then of course, she has a flat tummy (although she's plus size?!)

This is the first time I have read this author, and after reading this story I am even more ready to read others from her. This story kept me turning the pages wanting to know what was going to happen next and how this couple was going to fight for what was right in front of them.

This is a hot and deliciously steamy romance with a strong hero and a great heroine who doesn’t realize how marvelous she is. Steeped in New Orleans, we get put right into the action with all the feelings. Plus, there are friends and band member characters who would make great spinoff stories (hint, hint).

I'm sure reviewers and readers will comment about body awareness and the normal size of heroine. As a woman who shops out of different parts of her own closet based upon hormones and a love of tacos, it was nice to see a real woman without a corset-tiny waist.

Balancing the emotions and stakes of both sides of this romance makes for a sassy and fiery romance. Don't go in expecting closed door. This is sweet but has a heck of a lot of fire which makes it really, really good.

As a society, it's time we change it up a little. Beauty is more than a pretty face and fit body. Happiness is more than how we look and how we are perceived to be. A beautiful person can hide an ugly heart. Sexiness is about not just the window dressing, but the person that dwells underneath. Moonlight & Whiskey has the power to shake up some hearts, even as it opens minds. Tricia Lynne proves that it's all about the heart when it comes to sex appeal. Temptation with a bit of cliche equals a sensually stunning tale of self empowerment.

I loved everything about this. This was a sexy, contemporary romance. I loved the sensual setting of New Orleans. The characters were likable and memorable. I thought the writing was great, it brought out a whole range of emotions for me.

I adored Avery, she was unapologetic of herself. She is bigger than most of her friends and is tired of everyone pointing that out. She decides to go on a girls trip to let off some steam where she meets Declan, a singer.

This book pulled me in and kept me entertained until the last page. Everyone should give this one a try!

I am struggling with my rating on this one ... some aspects were 5 star for me but some were 2 star. As a result, I'm going with 3 stars for the overall book. I loved the heroine. I loved the fact that she is a larger beautiful lady and that it wasn't treated like a horrible, terrible thing to be larger. She is smart, beautiful and ambitious. She just happens to be a bit more curvy. And she struggles with her curves in a not unhealthy way - she has insecurities but she's working through them and trying to focus loving herself because of them not in spite of them. Anyway, I loved that aspect. And she was SHARP - intellectually and in her words. She is candid, honest and not afraid to tell it how it is. LOVED her. And I loved Declan (the hero) - hot with lots of flaws and insecurities. What threw me a bit was the language and dialogue - I just don't feel like it was realistic. I've never seen people who talk like this. Maybe I'm crazy but to have an entire book of people who speak the way these characters do seemed outlandish. It made the book feel unrealistic to me. I cringed over and over because of the dialogue. If that had been edited a bit, i would have LOVED this book. But, that just took away from the overall feel of things for me. There is so much drama in the speaking of all of the characters - melodrama to the extreme! I don't mind drama but how it came out in the language of the characters just didn't work for me. But, I still liked this one and do recommend it especially if the drama component isn't something that concerns you.

Moonlight & Whiskey by Tricia Lynne follows a quick-witted sharp-tongued Avery and a darkened and hardened Declan. Avery is in NOLA for a vacation with her best friend Kat when she (literally) bumps into Declan. She goes off on him and he invites her to dinner. Avery has always been a little bit bigger, a little bit curvier, and knows there's no way a guy like Declan, southern rock band front man, would be into her. Tall, lean muscle, a hint of an Irish accent and covered in tattoos - Declan lets Avery know that he absolutely wants her.

What's supposed to only be a vacation fling, quickly grows deeper despite Avery and Declan both throwing protective walls up at every crossroad. Declan ignites something within Avery - loving her fast-talking-no-shit-taking-demeanor while Avery senses she's close to unraveling Declan's self-preserving control. Could this be the start of something magnetic or will these two burn each other down before they even get started?

I LOVED this one. I've never related more to anyone than Avery when she's at the waxing salon. This one will have you laughing out loud and I so identified with her constant inner monologue with herself. I loved how perfect Declan was for her. How he pushed her and yet they still sparred. How much he desired everything about her that she perceived as a flaw. I loved that this featured a curvy main character (because HI food is amazing and every woman should rock what God her.) For fans of all the steam - HELLO - this one is for you. If you don't like knowing exactly what happens behind closed doors, this one may make you blush but I was HERE. FOR. IT. ALL. You'll want to shoot whiskey with Avery and Declan while listening to Skynyrd so go get a copy because it's OUT NOW!

Avery Rocks! Even though Declan is a fully fleshed gorgeous, brooding rock star, Avery is just so real she seems like one of your friends. It was so great to see a normal, curvy woman attract the hot guy all the while dealing with her many insecurities. While I dislike all the explicit sex and overuse of expletives, the love story and fighting personal demons was nicely done. I quite frankly only skimmed many of the sex scenes as it was repetitive and do you call this soft porn? Fifty shades without the paraphernalia? I hope that the author will write more and use her gift of writing in a less crass language. I am giving a four ( probably a 3.5) because I liked the style and use of dialogue, just didn't particular care for all the sex and expletives.

I loved Avery. There is something so great about a woman not caring what others think about their bodies as long as they love it. This book was hot,sexy, fun, and so sizzling hot. I loved how the author wrote the scenes and the intense chemistry between the two main characters. Will they be together , are they meant to be together or is someone else standing in the way? Gah!! This book, I can't even. Thank you for the brutal look at what Avery has to deal with, this is a real glimpse at what women go through in a male dominated arena. Don't be the mean girl!
And holy smokes Declan. Hot tortured Rock god with an accent, sign me up! Avery and Declan are combustible and they leave you wanting more.

This book was so Hot and Steamy I couldn't put it down.

I couldn't get enough of Avery and Declan. You could feel the steam coming off the page from word one.

I loved New Orleans as a setting. New Orleans is Dark and Seductive and Tricia made Avery and Declan just as dark and seductive.

I loved that Avery wasn't your typical size 2 woman. I loved that she had curves and embraced her curves. She wasn't shy. She knew she was beautiful and everyone else should see that too. Tricia keep writing about curvy girls I love it!

If you are looking for Hot and Steamy pick up this book. It will not disappoint.

If you like hot spicy romance, this has all the ingredients that will blow you away. Avery has had it with those who talk about her curvy body. She's proud of it in fact she is off to New Orleans to have a little fun. She runs into Declan and the sparks fly. They realize that one night isn't going to be enough but they both have baggage. Will Avery let Declan in and put her trust in his hands to see if they are meant for a happily ever after? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

A Strong start for a New Author-You have a woman who is successful and able to compete with any engineer out there. She does have to play down who she truly is deep down because of what corporate America /Men think...women do not belong as engineers. She is more talented, her work proves it and she has been striving to become a partner. She is just tired of all the BS and luckily for her, her best friend is taking her down to New Orleans to vacation and experience the "Real Deal".

This curvy big personality woman meets a Rock God when he bumps into her at the hotel they are both staying in. He is every woman's dream....and he is focused on our gal, not her beautiful model bestie. He really wants to hang out with her but has to go due to a gig.

Fate plays a big hand in making sure these two connect again and we are off and running.
This is a very sexy story, perfect with so many layers of insecurity from Both Characters. Each in their own heads about what they think the other is doing to them... is this connection real or are they being played.

Each of these characters had major pain from past relationships. It causes them to make major missteps and they have to work hard to get to the level of trust they thought they had built.

Well worth the read and I think another book maybe becoming for the Bestie and her guy.

Avery and Declan meet by chance when she goes to NOLA with her best friend, Katia. Avery loses her mind on Declan and he is intrigued by her from the get go. I thought Avery was a tad too snippy and it was not endearing at all. She had snark but used it in a way that was mean and not quirky. She pushed back against everyone when she perceived they were judging her, but had no issues with pointing out other people's flaws. Declan was a man of mystery but was willing to put down his walls for Avery. She, however, could not fathom him feeling anything for her so she pushed him away at every turn. Things that were obvious were missed by her because she was in her head so much. She was the epitome of book smart and street dumb. Both of them acted like adolescents at times and it got old. Wanted more romance and less angst at the end. Was an okay read for me but it was difficult for me to finish because I disliked Avery so much.

This curvy girl romance has some truly funny moments, but while I usually love sassy, take no nonsense female characters, Avery is just not likable. Strong is one thing, and I appreciate that she could and did stand up for herself, but Avery goes past that and straight to insulting and rude more often than not. I think most of what she said was supposed to be funny, but this one could've done with a bit of the less is more school of thought. I did like Declan, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he kept going back for more with Avery. He had plenty of demons to deal with, and it just felt like her attitude was one he could get away from. When you spend that much time just wanting him to walk away it doesn't bode well for any kind of hopes about the romance. On a positive note, you can't read this one without the feeling that the author loves New Orleans. The descriptions of the city are vivid and paint a picture that is easy to visualize. That said, the setting turned out to be the best part of this one for me. As this is a debut, and my biggest issue lay with my feelings about Avery, I will check out future works from this author. She does show talent, and I'll be interested to see how her writing develops with future books.

The Big Easy right after Mardi Gras. One hot, curvy woman, plus a hot bad boy musician. What more could you ask for? Avery and Declan are complex characters that draw you into their orbit and you wonder what they will do next. Avery, bless her, has a mouth that says what it want, and to heck with what others think! Declan is the mystery man. He has demons that he’s running from. How will they resolve this? Or will they? The other minor characters played important parts in the story too (Kat, Jamie and Matt) and hopefully Tricia Lynne will be writing sequels to this book.
