In the past, I haven't reviewed books that I haven't read. But, I have changed my mind. Firstly, I think that the fact that I couldn't finish a book is a valid criticism and this is where we give feedback to the publisher. Secondly, I need to get my score up. I will not post this anywhere else but here. My rating will be based on what other people would think about this work.

I reached about 10%, and then it has stuck on my kindle. I have found that I didn't want to pick it up after I put it down. However, I am sure that many people would be interested in reading this work. So, I will give it three stars.

While this had the potential to be a very interesting book, I'm afraid that, to me, the author's missed the mark. Honestly, I found the book to be boring. I had a hard time maintaining interest in it. Sorry.

An intriguing biography of Sidney R. Yates who served in the House of Representatives for almost 50 years. This book deals almost exclusively with his work in politics with only a cursory look at his private life. As someone with only a rudimentary idea of how the US governmental system works, I thought this was an interesting read, however, it did seem to get bogged down in the minutiae at times. Overall, I rate this a solid 3.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, University of Illinois Press, for the opportunity to review an ARC.

Not the kind of book I normally read but an easy to read biography. Gives the reader a better insight into the workings of Congress. Along with a wistful longing that if only politics were as civil as they were back then
