This is my first time reading Michelle Adams and it was an excellent read! I devoured this book in a little over a day. As you read, you will quickly see that you can trust no one in this book to tell the whole truth and EVERYONE is keeping some sort of secret. I will say that I guessed who the “bad guy” was pretty early on, but I think that’s what made me want to read it more. I needed to figure out the hows and whys as Cholette struggled to regain her memory after the accident. Oddly enough, I even enoyed how as the story unfolded, it made me see another side Chole that I began to like less and less. Excellent character development, excellent plot, and excellent read. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Michelle Adams. Thanks so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this fast paced, gripping thriller!

WOWEE ! This is one book you just cannot miss! So many twists, turns, and surprises !

Chloe had been in a coma for a month. This, after a car accident that killed her 8 year old son - while Chloe was driving. Her husband, Andrew, had also died a week earlier. Even Chloe's parents and sister seem unfamiliar - as does the house and its surroundings. Her father, a psychiatrist, constantly answers Chloe's questions by saying: "All in good time..."

Somehow, Chloe knows that all of her clothes are at her house where she lived with her son and husband. The parents are reluctant to tell her about the house - anyway, the family won't tell her about. They tell Chloe that her husband was a drunk and - she is better off this way. Jess, Chloe's sister, seems to be the best person in the family to ask about anything. Jess is 20 and Chloe is 32, so their bond is probably not all that strong? However Jess does take Chloe outside. Finally!

Against all professional lines, Chloe's father is the one treating her. She is given medication and also therapy which may include hypnosis. Chloe feels even more confused and unsure of herself. Her father's colleague, Guy, seems receptive to Chloe - he visits the house occasionally. Also, the groundskeeper, Ben, is maybe someone to tap into.

As the story unravels, pieces of Chloe's life prior to her accident and subsequent coma come to her in flashbacks. Chloe becomes more familiar with the outside world (under the duress of her parents) and this allows her to remember more. And more.....

Anything else would be a spoiler. A fantastic read across many genres. One of 2018's shining stars!

Many Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a spectacular read!

Twisty has a whole new meaning in this novel of psychological suspense, where the heroine is in psychological freefall from the first sentence to the last. Lots of surprises, betrayals, and landmines in an expertly plotted novel

First book I have read from this author, I was hooked from the very beginning and it held my interest throughout.

Interesting characters that I soon got involved with and an excellent page turner with a good twist at the end which I never guessed.

Well done Michelle I look forward to number three.

From the intriguing title and the captivating beginning, the reader will not want to put this book down. Chloe is discovered severely injured, all alone, and strapped inside a vehicle, an apparent victim of a terrible car accident. Having suffered an epidural haematoma, she is in a coma for a month. When she wakes up, she has no recollection of her family, who she is or was, what she did, how she lived, or what happened, except for a vague memory of an accident.

Under her family’s care and protection, she is sent to her family's vast gated estate which makes her feel as if she is being kept as a prisoner. Although she is led to believe that her father, a psychiatrist, is trying to help her recover her memories, even after several weeks and sessions, the past still eludes her. The lack of progress does lead her to ask her father why he, a relative, is conducting her therapy. Additionally, her family is reluctant to fill in the blanks. All she is told is that she is age 32, had worked as a lawyer, and had her own house. Her father is also protecting her from talking to the police until she remembers anything that could be useful to their investigation.

Chloe’s contact with other people is limited. Besides her mom, sister Jess, and her father, she generally sees Ben, the groundsman, on a daily basis, and then there is Guy Thurwell, her father’s colleague she remembered seeing at the hospital, who drops by the estate on occasion.

While looking through a family picture album that her mother had compiled just for her, Chloe discovers a hidden photo, only exposed because the one atop it had slipped down. Her examination of that photo brings her to the shocking realization that her family has been lying to her all along and cannot be trusted. As she now seeks to find out for herself what really happened, you will be questioning the motives of all the characters until the very end of this mesmerizing story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a talented author and a well-written, intricately interwoven psychological thriller.

I am honored and thankful for the opportunity by St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley to read a pre-release of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am also delighted to read in the Acknowledgements that this is the second book written under contract by this author, thus, I will most definitely be seeking out to read her first one, IF YOU KNEW MY SISTER.

A warm thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy of Michelle Adams fine psychological thriller. When Chloe awakens from a brain bleed she hasn’t a clue where she belongs, who who family are, let alone what happened to her. Convalescing at the emotionally disturbing family home she pieces together a few things that all is not as it should be. And she has every good reason to trust these instincts. Told with excellent pacing and a truly suspenseful arc, I was happy to say this mystery had me puzzled well into the book before the A-ha! moment. And that’s just the way I like my mysteries and suspense novels. Well done to Ms. Adams for a great thriller that’ll keep you guessing!

Oh my goodness! I absolutely love a good thriller with amnesia! Chloe wakes up in the hospital from a near death car wreck and no recollection on how she got there or her life prior. Her family paints her a picture of the perfect life. But we all know that something is clearly very wrong... what did she forget? And why? Quick read and an author I will look for in the future!

This was a compelling mystery filled with many twist and turns. Chloe wakes up from a car accident without memory of what occurred. She stays with her parents as she slowly begins to uncover the truths surrounding her life and the accident. This book explores the consequences of our actions and the impact of lies and deceit on a family. A gripping novel that would leave you suspicious of everyone and eager to uncover the truth.

Chloe Daniels wakes up in the hospital with no memory. Not of how she got there, or even what her name is. Her parents and her sister try to fill in the blanks, explaining about her career, her beautiful home and the accident that nearly left Chloe dead. It sounds like Chloe had an almost perfect life. So why does she feel that her family is holding something back? As time progresses, Chloe begins to wonder if she’s forgotten her past for a reason

Wow. Another thrill ride from Michelle Adams! I loved her debut novel, If You Knew My Sister, so I was eagerly awaiting this one. When Chloe awakens in the hospital after a deadly car accident, she has no memory of the incident at all. When her parents take her home to heal, she seems confident that all is well as her father is a doctor skilled in psychiatry and memory recovery. But something feels amiss; are they really helping her or are they keeping vital information from her in order to ease the pain of a traumatic outcome? So Chloe seeks answers on her own and as she slowly discovers the truth, she realizes her own choices have led her down a path she least expected. What's not to love about a book with secrets and lies, deception and falsehoods at every turn? Can't wait for her next one!
