A cute typical book . An older divorcee,Terra, who owns a club and doesn't want a relationship falls for the younger playboy,Ashton.
The story developed very quickly for me. One minute he was rescuing her from a terrible blind date and the next minute they were together.
It was enjoyable to read.

This was a cute and sexy read that I enjoyed very much. I'm usually not a fan of romance stories that have the romance develop so quickly but I think in this case the author did a good job making it work and being plausible. Both Ashton and Terra knew exactly what they wanted so it really sold me on the quick romance. They had such great chemistry.

I typically don't go for an older woman/younger man. I usually go for older man/younger woman, but this story I believe has changed my view on the older woman/younger man. I definitely enjoyed it! I highly recommend it!

I am not a fan of older woman younger man situations, but that is me to each its own. I found this book ok, not the best but I guess you could pass the time, me I would have read something else. So we meet Ashton a self proclaimed playboy and then he meets Terra and all of sudden he is head over heels and in love so he apparently changed his way fairly quickly, yeah that did not convince me. But it is what it is, so then we have Terra a divorcee and little leary of getting hurt again but Ashton and his charming ways convinces her and then we have a whole lot of sexy times...That was basically it..

This is a cute book that was well written and progressed nicely. It is a book about a self proclaimed playboy bachelor who has very definite rules to " dating" ( aka sleeping with) women. Oh and his British accent doesn't hurt in his pursuit of said women.
She is a divorcee who does not want a relationship. She's too busy with her business and is too jaded from her ex.
Then they both meet each other and. It do they changes their minds quickly.

So much goodness in this book:
- A strong, black 41-year old divorced club owner heroine
- A younger, white no-relationships-ever hero who plays up his British accent whenever it suits his needs and ends up being goo over her
- A lot (and I mean a lot) of sexy times - because, of course, they both fall head over heels in love with each other
- Conflict around grief, love, substance abuse, domestic violence

The first chapter introduces us to the hero, who comes across as very condescending and judgemental. I was happy see that he didn't ever go back into this type of attitude from chapter two onwards. At times, especially in the second part of the book, I wished the story could have been written tighter and wrapped up faster.

I do recommend this book though and found it an enjoyable read.

This was my first book by Aliza Mann and I'll be looking for more in the future. I was given the opportunity to read this book in advance of the publication date and asked to give an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.

I'm torn with this book. I found so many positives with this book, younger man/ older women, multi-racial and strong characters but it needed something more to bring it together.
It needed more of a storyline other than Terra's ex husband harassing her and Ashton's hang up on relationships.

This was a very cute enjoyable book! The couple was a bit older, so they knew what they wanted and was looking for. Both of them were going through different things in life and was not expecting to find love, but when it comes knocking!

I loved how cute Ash was when he went out his way to see Terra. Their romance did develop quite quickly, but it was understandable and enjoyable.

I recommend this book!

Wow..Wow..wow!! I just loved Terra and Ashton's story. He was a good guy at heart and each 0f them deserved a happy ending. Especially, all that Terra went through with that creep Marcus. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Hopefully, there will be a follow up story with Gary and Gloria.

Breaking His Rules was an easy book to get lost in. I felt like the relationship progressed very quickly. I didn't feel like there was a real angst moment in the story. I didn't find a conflict or a struggle with the characters to be very strong. (Which isn't always a bad thing) I loved the concept of the story. I liked how strong and independent the female characters are in the book. I would have liked to see a little more back and forth at the beginning of the relationship. It felt like everything happened overnight or in a very short time span. I'd like to read more from this author to see what her other work is like.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ashton and Terra story is a well written within a modern setting. She's an older woman wary of getting hurt and he a Charming quick witted man looking for short term but finding a true love instead. While I wasn't crazy about how quickly he falls for her especially since he initially declares himself a playboy, I did enjoy the incredible chemistry he has with Terra.
Nice modern romance with a strong heroine and a charming, kind hero.
