I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed are my own. I was interested to read this story but it really wasn't what I expected. The characters were unlikable and I didn't connect with them.

This was creepy and uncomfortable read and I loved it. It made you think and question everything. I had never read anything by her before and I will be looking for her stuff in the future

What a tangled web of lies and deceit ! All comes crashing down spectacularly though!
Love Adele Parks’ writing style, it’s so fluid that it just sucks you in from the first chapter and doesn’t spit you out until the last!!!

This books deals with a triggering topic, namely an older woman having a relationship with a younger man. The problems start when the younger man is the son of the woman's best friend.... Entertaining read. Recommended.

For all the Mel’s out there...the bleeding heart, “have to help everyone from my past because I am a good person”, good hearted women.. NO, just NO. Don’t do it! Draw the line. Abi shows up on Mel’s doorstep asking for a place to stay... this thriller is full of twists that will keep you questioning what you would do if you were Mel!

This did not hold my interest. I tried a couple times and it just didn't do it for me. I opted not to share a review online.

This is my first time reading a book by Adele Parks so I can't comment on how it compares to her other novels. I found this to be hard work - very drawn out for the pay off in terms of storyline. Also not suspensful at all - very little happened and it was quite obvious before the fact. And this was in my opinon more of a domestic drama than a mystery/thriller as billed.

Adele Parks is a new-to-me author, and I enjoyed her domestic suspense novel, I Invited Her In. Thirty-eight-year old Mel is happily married with three children, living a contented life in suburban England with her husband and working in a shop. But when an old college friend that she’d lost contact with suddenly emails her out of the blue, hinting that she’d like to come for a visit since her life is falling apart due to divorce, Mel doesn’t know that Abigail is going to tear her happy life to shreds.

I Invited Her In is a slow burn for the first half of the book, and as Mel happily accepts Abigail into her home and into her family’s lives, the cracks in the rich, Hollywood-polished surface that Abigail portrays start to surface. Melanie can’t do enough to make sure that Abigail is welcome and comfortable in their home, and Abigail runs shod over their hospitality. While Mel doesn’t have many close friends in the seventeen years since she’s lost touch with Abigail, she gravitates to Abi once they’re in the same home. Mel’s husband thinks that his wife’s need for Abi’s acceptance and friendship has blinded her to Abi’s true colors, and he can’t wait to get her out of their house and lives. He just wants his wife and home back.

Told in points of view from either Mel, Abi, husband Ben, and another character so you get a good idea of what’s possibly going on, the unraveling of sensibilities and friendships get worse as the book goes on. Abi is unlikable from the start, whether in her point of view or any one else’s, and her self-absorption, manipulations, and wickedness knew no bounds. I wasn’t surprised by Mel’s responses to her so-called friend’s actions, but her husband Ben’s solutions really surprised me.

I give I Invited Her In a four out of five. While a bit predictable, the tension and exposure of quite explosive lies kept me reading, just waiting to see what would happen to the deplorable characters next. The writing was excellent and I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and use of unreliable narrators. This is really a story about getting what you don’t have no matter who you have to take it from, and boy, was this a ride.

Some of the twists were a little easy to guess, and in some ways it was a bit of a predictable story, one that has been told in various different guises. But nevertheless a good read and very enjoyable - even if the main character was very frustrating in how blind she appeared to be!

I normally really like Adele Parks, but this one is not one of my favourites. It did not feel totally original for some reason - I feel like I've read this type of story before. I hope she is back on form with her next novel.

I refrained from giving feedback on this title as I found the whole plot quite predictable. I now realise that Netgalley counts refraining from giving feedback against your rating score and so I am submitting the review, respite it being negative.

Unfortunately, as I say, for me this book was rather predictable and the plot let it down. I wasn't engrossed in the way I had hoped to be and I found myself guessing what would happen. This is a shame as it is a genre I enjoy. Still, could make for a nice, easy read for other people.

I just couldn't get past the start of this book. Why would you allow someone to stay with you indefinitely that you haven't seen or talked to in years and years.

Really enjoyed this thriller. It kept me guessing and I didn't find is predicatable as some of the recent thrillers I've read.

I class this as I domestic thriller and these are personally my favourite type to read, will read more from this author in the future.

This novel kind of turned my stomach a little bit. While it was entertaining enough to keep my attention it just freaked me out a little bit, and I most likely wouldn't recommend it to friends. The ending with the fake death and baby girl was just slightly too crazy for me.

Thankyou to NetGalley, Harlequin-Mira and the author, Adele Parks, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of I Invited Her In in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.

The storyline was intriguing and keeps you hooked until the last page.
Worth a read.

So- I have feelings. Mel and Abi were besties in school, and then their friendship took a backburner to life and they lost touch. Fast forward to 17 years later when Abi needs a place to stay and Mel invited her back into her life and into her home.

This book had all the things- secrets, lies, intrigue, thrills, fantastic characters, family, love, loyalty and I loved it all. The suspense was built layer by layer with great writing and even better characters. I could not get enough. I enjoyed the different POVs and all the delicate, smooth, transitions.

Fantastic 4.5 star read. I really enjoyed this one.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for allowing me to read and review.
