The Journey to Territory M (Extinction of All Children Book 2) by LJ Epps

250 Pages
Publisher: L.J. Epps
Released Date: November 8, 2018

Fiction, Sci Fi, Fantasy, Teens, Young Adult, Dystopian

Emma and Eric escape Territory L with Julian’s help. He is a driver of a supply truck between the two territories. Since Emma’s sister Taylor and her baby Abigail were found and taken into custody, Emma is determined to find out what happened to baby Abigail. They begin searching and find refuge in an abandoned college building, but they find they are not alone. A small group of runaways have already staked a claim in the building. Eventually, they came to an agreement and begin working together.

The book has a slower pace, the characters are not as developed as the first book, and it is written in the first-person point of view. This book is not as captivating as the first book. There is a lot of running away and hiding in the book. With that said, I am still all in for the series and look forward to the next book in the series, Journey to Territory U.

I received tbis for free through netgalley. Unfortunately this story didn’t really interest me once I started reading, I couldn’t push myself to continue the first book, and then didn’t continue with series.

An overall okay story with some shaky writing. It's could have been done a bit better wasn't a terrible read.

Normally I have no trouble jumping into a second book of a series I'm reading but this one I had a bit of trouble with, it took me a little while to get back into the story line of thing but over all I did enjoy it just like I did the first one.

This is the second book of the series. I started with book 3 and working my way backwards.

I found this writing compared to book 3 fairly dry and not as engaging which surprised me giving how good book 3 was.

I wasn't impressed with the first book in this series, but I decided to give the series another shot and am happy that I did. I enjoyed the sequel much more than the first book.

Book two of this series. Can Emma Whisper change her world? The LAST 18 year old, in the world, has goals. Emma has to go through Territory M. She's from Territory L, If you read the first book you know that's the poor level and now she's making her way through the middle/working class world. What a journey that is! Runaways, empty schools, This book dives deeper into the dark and sinister world that Emma is in. Deaths, corruption, the lack of value of life, it's all here. The writing voice is still odd, but I am one of those who has to know the ending, so I'll be reading the next book. It does have a lot of parallels to Hunger Games, but not in the ways you would anticipate.

Thanks to Net Galley for my digital copy of this book. This review is mine, with what I think about this book. A positive review is not required.

I wasn’t able to read this one as I have not been able to download a copy. As I was bot able to read the book, I will still give it a five star review because it was not the author’s fault.

Journey to Territory M is about Emma leaving Territory L in search of this better place. What she does not know is that Territory M is not quite what she expected. Maybe she should have stayed where she was? Don’t want to give any spoilers away so you must read it.

4.5 stars

Last month I read Extinction of All Children which is the first book in this trilogy. I picked up book 2 this month and ended up enjoying it slightly more. This book picks up right where book one ends. Emma and Eric are now in Territory M which is where all the middle class people are. There are still similarities to The Hunger Games but it’s different. I don’t feel like I am reading the same story. The one thing that bugged me a lot was the fact that Emma kept comparing the two territories. Like I get it they had way more than Territory L does. I don’t need you to explain to me how the water faucets are different in each territory. It would have been fine if she only did this a couple times but nope she did it all throughout the book which got really annoying really fast. Actually there was one other thing, the fact that Emma and her brother and sister refer to their parents as Mother and Father. This happened more so in the first book but it did happen in this book as well. I just find it a little weird. This book was a lot more gruesome. There are several deaths including kids plus some gory scenes. The first half of the book was a little slow and mostly consisted of them hiding out and Emma comparing everything to her territory. Once I got to the halfway point things started picking up and I can’t wait to read the next book in April.

I did not like book one of this series. So I will no longer be continuing to read the second and third books in the trilogy.

I started reading this one but didn't hold my interest. I though the concept was good but I wish I could have connected with the characters more.

The saga continues and it’s amazing. I was totally drawn into this second volume #journeytoterritoryu and can’t wait to start volume 3. This dystopia series concerns 3 territories divided by social-economic status ruled by a lifetime “president” who is all about keeping people in their place. Lots of action and running around by the young adults. Thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for this ebook to read and review.

While I really liked the first book in the series, I did not think the second book was good and felt it was lacking the same spark. I think the main issue with this book was lack of character development. The characters seemed to be the same as the previous book without any surprises, and they were doing things that did not even add to the plot. Considering that this is the 2nd book in the series, I wanted the author to make the characters more dynamic where we learn something new about them that we didn't know from the earlier book. Moreover, the plot was okay with some nice twists and turns, but nothing really different from the first book. I will still read the third book to see how the story ends.

(See all of my Book Reviews) - “Journey “to Territory M” eBook was published in XXXXXXX and was written by L. J. Epps (https://www.ljeppsauthor.com/index.html). This is Ms. Epps fourth novel and the second in her “Extinction of All Children” series.

I categorize this novel as ‘G. The story picks up almost immediately after the first novel ends. The primary character Emma Whisperer continues to work her way towards what she thinks is more freedom while avoiding the security forces.

I Generally like Young Adult novels, but this one just left me shaking my head. I invested two hours into it, but I finally called a “Rule of 50” and quit. I read the first novel of the series “Extinction of All Children” a few weeks ago and had hopped that the books would get better. Sadly, the trend seemed to be in the other direction. I had the third novel in my queue to read, but I have deleted it now.

For what I read of this 368-page young adult novel I give a rating 2 out of 5. I am not a fan of the chosen cover art.

This book picks up where book one left off and Emma has finally escaped Territory L and is now in Territory M. She brings two friends with her into this journey and is on a search for her niece Abigail. What she soon finds out is that President Esther has more in store for her than she was planning for. As we go on this dangerous journey with Emma we will find out who is really a friend and who is really an enemy. This was a great second book and I am anxious to see where her journey takes her next and who will be by her side.

Journey to Territory M sounds like it's stalling; pushing a Trilogy where there isn't one.
Emma and Eric have made it to Territory Me, the areas that houses the middle class. Life is both much different here and very much the same. While most people are happy because they have everything they need, there are runaways that dispute the class world that has been set. Emma falls in with these runaways to help her find where they bury the babies and to hopefully, find her niece.
Overall, the good stuff, could have been dived between the other books I feel. There were some ew characters introduced but only one of two seem like they will make an impact later. I'd love to be surprised and see those others that are still alive make a difference.
I was mostly bored with the last half. While the min characters doesn't get her questions answered as a plot point, I was just repetition of nothing and more nothing for the reader.
I don't mean to be harsh. Many bridge novels like this have a hard time. Serving as a transition from beginning to end can be tricky. L.J. Epps get really tripped up.
That being said, it doesn't stop me from the show down. The ending leaves you with a mundane option but as reader you know it will never work. Epps has, at least, set up for a conclusion that won't be what it seems.

A great sequel to the first book. After the main character battles through her poverty stricken territory and defies the president she escapes and find herself in one the richer regions of the country. How does one change the future of a nation whilst being on the run?

Just like the first book this sequel is a breeze to read. The writing is solid and the story telling is good. Mainly the way the author describes the amazement of the characters with all the fancy things this territory holds is fun to read.
