As a huge Susan Dennard fan - when I sad the except on NetGalley - I just had to get a taste of what's in store. I mean it's Aeudan! I need the rest of the book like yesterday! I cannot wait! Great excerpt!

Hello, I will be adding this review to my Instagram and blog in a couple weeks. I will edit this to include the links to both posts when they are public. Thank you.

When I saw that NetGalley had an excerpt for Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard I knew I needed to request it even if it meant waiting to find out the rest until February 12th, 2019.

Frankly, I don't even know where to begin! Even though it was just a preview excerpt I feel like I was given so much yet so little. As you know, I finished this series last month and bought the Faecrate Hangover Kit for this specific book. I am so glad I picked up this series because I am invested! Usually a series sometimes gets worse as it goes on but I feel that Bloodwitch will not disappoint. It has really added to the characters we have already met and given a few of them more background and such good twists. I hope the rest of the book is just as good as the beginning because if it is then I am sure I will shed a few tears. Honestly, if you haven't picked up this series yet I would highly suggest doing so. You do not want to miss this book!

Thank you Macmillan-Tor/Forge and Susan Dennard for this preview excerpt.

I have adored this series so far, and Bloodwitch is definitely looking like it will live up to my expectations!!
This was the perfect preview!!! It was exciting and fast-paced and I can't wait to continue with these beloved characters. Coincidentally, I just received a physical ARC for this title from the publisher, so am going to hold off on reviewing it online, until I have read the entire book!
I will update this review, with a link to my full non-spoilery review, when I have finished my arc.
Huge thanks to Tor Teen for the early read!!!

There is very little to say except that this sneak peek excerpt is perhaps the most tortured I've felt for this series since the day I decided to pick up Truthwitch. I am now beyond ecstatic to read the this when it comes out. So far, it is doing much justice to my favourite characters such as Iseult, Aeduan, and Safi, and bringing to the fore other characters like Vivia and Vaness. Merik too is improving on me!

This was incredible! The preview has gotten me so hyped for the rest of the book! February cannot come fast enough. This 4th installment in the witchland series is the best one yet! The characters, wolrdbuilding, conflicts, and dynamics are intricately woven together to create a spectacular story. Seriously can’t wait to see what Susan Dennard has in store for us!

Exciting, fast-paced start to the third book in this brilliant series. Engaging characters who develop naturally throughout the story and face meaningful challenges.

This is a review of a preview, not the entire book.

Dennard's series has been amazing from the start, and Bloodwitch continues where she last left off. We have surprising former-enemies-turned-allies (maybe? potential allies?) and the world building is still amazing. The different magics and the description is what has hooked me into this series from the start.

Can't wait for the book!! I am excited to see some of my suspicions from earlier books confirmed (e.g. Aeduan's mom) & I'm pumped for the rest. I hope the set up in Windwitch is going to start paying off

I first decided I wanted to read Susan Dennard's work when I found out that she and Sarah J Maas were besties - if that is not a glowing recommendation, I don't know what is! But sadly, I hadn't taken the opportunity to do so until now and I'm kicking myself for waiting for so long. I feel a vacuum in my TBR now that I've finished the Immortal Reign and Throne of Glass series and it looks as if The Witchlands series can fill that void if the preview of Bloodwitch is an accurate indication. Even in the first few pages it is obvious that the author has created a vast and nuanced world full of magic, action, and intrigue - not to mention fantastically dynamic characters with an emphasis of strong females. That's exactly what I look for in bingeworthy YA fantasy reads! And the cover just adds to the excitement - she looks like a bad@$$ pirate knight that can handle her business (and yours if you're not careful)! I can't wait to dive into this series and be immersed in this world.

I'm shook. I'm very honored to have even been given this excerpt of about half the book to read. I didn't expect to get this, so yeah I'm shook.

As far as the book, it's how I feel with Susan's style of writing in other novels of her's I've read. I feel like things can get really slow. Like reaaallly slow. To the point where you're just getting the urge to flip through and skim read. Then you get a good scene. That scene makes things go fast or just add more life to the characters. As this was only about half the book, I believe that most of these types of sequences would appear after where the excerpt left off, as it was starting to get really good. If you enjoyed Truthwitch and Windwitch, you'll probably really enjoy Bloodwitch. If you were in the middle about it, or just mixed on the writing style, then I'd probably wait for a library to carry the book and test it out. Maybe go to the bookstore and read a few chapters, too.

Although it wasn't very long, this just makes me even more excited for February 12!!! Great preview of a no doubt great book!

Susan Dennard is a master of fantasy. The Witchlands series offers complex worldbuilding, multilayered characters, and a perfect blend of suspense and thrills. Susan is an incredibly insightful and lovely individual. Aeduan is equal parts intriguing and dangerous. Susan balances action with internal growth, creating an excellent story. My only complain is that this excerpt is too short. I need the entire book now.

This was amazing. Just. One. Word.
Amazing.
I need other half now because the last made me crazy. Susan Dennard is my favorite author. She getting better in each new book. Until the next book in this series, Bloodwitch will be the best.

The gift of an ARC is a blessing and a curse. This gave me just enough to scream "MORE" as soon as it was done!

This book is a continuation of everything wonderful about the Witchlands series: action-packed, adventurous, full of clues and hidden secrets, loaded with strong and interesting characters, and constantly leaving me wanting more. I felt, more often than not, like I was there, going through the motions with the characters as they did. Susan Dennard knows how to end a chapter, a scene, and a teaser. She leaves you gasping, and often uncertain about what will happen to your beloved adventure next, but ultimately, you're left trusting that she knows exactly what she's doing. I'm desperate to know what happens next!

This was a much bigger excerpt than I was expecting and it expertly demonstrated how amazing this book is going to be. The Iseult and Aeduan scenes were full of nailbiting tension (and me screaming KISS KISS KISS). Safi is getting deep into the court politics of Marstok working as Vaness's Truthwitch as well as some other interesting side projects when a familiar face reappears. Merik winds up somewhere I really did not expect and I'm very interested to see how his storyline plays out in Bloodwitch. Vivia, newly named Queen-in-Waiting, meets up with someone to discuss the future and it was probably one of my favorite scenes in the entire excerpt. I hope these two continue their interactions. When I thought I couldn't be any more excited for Bloodwitch's release this excerpt came along and blew my mind! This ended on a really emotional note for two of the characters and I'm dying to find out what happens next!

Downloaded this exerpt because it's one of my favorite genre. I'm sold! I want more! However, this is the 3rd book in the series. I went on Barnes and Noble to research for Windwitch and Truthwitch. Imagine my delight, they were on sale (Black Friday)! I went ahead and ordered them because I really want to read those before the Bloodwitch comes out on sale.

I'm not saying much about this preview yet until I read the actual book. I want to be able to give a good review on Bloodwitch after I'm done reading it once it becomes available.

I received this sample of ARC from Tor Teen through Net Galley in exchange for my unbiased and honest review. Thank you!

Bloodwitch (Preview Excerpt) by Susan Dennard

Published by Macmillan-Tor/Forge

Pub Date: February 12, 2019

Start: November 24, 2018

End: November 25, 2018

I received this in exchange for an honest review.

SYNOPSIS (FROM GOODREADS):
High in a snowy mountain range, a monastery that holds more than just faith clings to the side of a cliff. Below, thwarted by a lake, a bloodthirsty horde of raiders await the coming of winter and the frozen path to destroy the sanctuary and its secrets.

The Bloodwitch Aeduan has teamed up with the Threadwitch Iseult and the magical girl Owl to stop the destruction. But to do so, he must confront his own father, and his past.

REVIEW:
I have been waiting for this book for sooooo long! I love the Witchlands, there has not been a book that I haven’t loved yet. And Aeduan is my favorite character of all of them! This excerpt was such a good teaser for what is to come. I want the rest of it right now, seriously.

The transitions from each characters point of views was not as smooth as it was in the other books. It was a little choppy and at times I found myself having to go back and figure out who I was reading. The amount of point of views has increased so the transitions, I think, need a little extra something to make them easier to distinguish.

I also would like some sort of recap of what happened previously to make it easier to jump back into the story. So much has happened that it can be hard to catch up if you haven’t re-read the first two books before starting this one. It took me a little bit to remember everything that had happened so at times I was a little bit lost.

I am so excited for rest of this book to come out and for the series to continue. The Witchlands is such an interesting setting and so unique. I haven’t read anything like it and I love it. Susan Dennard does such a good job with world and character building. The ties between characters is so intricate and complicated and for me that would be hard to keep straight when writing but somehow she does it so well. I highly recommend to read the Witchlands series.
