Interesting and entertaining story, not sure why Melody thought to ask Adam for 'help" but I liked how everything all played for these two
literally the definition of opposites attract lol
Melody Bryant is destined to be an old cat lady unless she makes some changes quick. She wants to fall in love but only one man fits that category and that is Adam. A man who has made it more then obvious he is not interested. Deciding she needs help with a make over her life she enlists Adam, who has a reputation as a bad boy, for help on pointers. Problem is Adam has feelings for Melody that continue to rise as they get close but Adam feels he can't go there with Melody since he is best friends with her brother. Can he come to terms with his feelings and realize that if he doesn't change his thinking he could lose her forever.
This was fun, I am always a sucker for makeover books. Melody is sweet and I get why Adam was reluctant but Melody is a force to be reckoned with when she wants something. Some of the scenes are pretty hilarious.
How to Seduce a Bad Boy by Traci Douglass is the 1st book in the Point Beacon series, and my first book by this author. Melody Bryant is soon turning twenty-five-years-old, and she wants to lose her virginity before than. Melody is a librarian, and she fits the stereotype. Melody talks her brother's best friend to tutor her in how to attract a man. Of course they have both had a secret crush on each other for years. If your looking for an fun romantic escape, I recommend this book. It's predictable, but that's what is great about a good contemporary romance.
I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the Entangled Publishing, LLC. Thank you.
I'm generally not great with they sterotypical storylines (a virgin librarian?) so I was kind of expecting to be a little insulting, but I actually did enjoy the book. A woman trying to find her independence is a trope that I can get behind. The romance relationship is well done, and I ultimately found it a cute little read.
This was okay. The writing flowed okay, but I wasn't really a fan of the story. Melody was pretty immature, and I'm not completely sure why she asked Adam for help in the first place. I don't understand how a man is going to help her with a makeover. The "ruin her reputation" part maybe, but not a makeover. Then it seems like the only reason Adam is interested in her is because of the makeover. I never really felt a connection between them. James was an overprotective jerk, and Melody was a grown woman who didn't need a protector. Lily wasn't a very good friend in my opinion either. Maybe they'll be good together.

I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Melody and Adam was a good cute read. I recommend this book. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Something about Melody just really resonated with me. She was so well-written, I felt like I actually know her. And the romance was totally believable and fun. I loved this start to the series and look forward to more!
Mel is a passionate librarian who has a problem. She can't seem to keep a mans attention beyond the first few minutes to get a date. Now, a twenty-five-year-old virgin her best-friend suggests an extreme makeover. With that idea in mind, Mel approaches her brothers best friend and her longtime crush Adam to teach her how to attract a man.
Adam has been avoiding Mel for the past eight years when she told him she loved him and wanted him to be her first. Now he's back home from the service and working at the garage his best friend and him created together. When Mel propositions him again he knows he can't turn her away again in case she takes her crazy scheme to someone else, at least that's what he tells himself.
Things start to heat up quickly as Mel and Adam spend more time together, but Adam doesn't do love and won't risk losing the only family he's ever had.
I thought this story was fine. Not great and not terrible, just fine. It's definitely a story I don't think I'll be thinking about again. I thought the pacing was inconsistent; some places dragged where they didn't need to and other parts were sped through where it seemed like more time should have been spent.
I think the other two downsides of this story for me were; Mel's best friend was kind of a crappy friend. She was kind of mean and it just didn't seem like a good friendship. Then there were the sexy scenes that were completely just not in this story. Like we're leading up to Mel losing her virginity and it cuts to the next morning like a RomCom. It was a bit disappointing, to say the least.
Despite all that I did like Mel and Adam's characters. I wish we had gotten more, but overall they were decent.
I love the bad boys, especially in my book boyfriends. One of my all-time favorite romance tropes is the older brother's best friend hero. Traci Douglass doesn't disappoint. How to Seduce a Bad Boy is a great read! Highly recommend.
Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sexy romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
Author Traci Douglas portrays characters that pull on the heartstrings and entertain. A good read.

While there are a lot of stereotypes/tropes covered here, I felt like Douglass handled it well. While there isn't anything new, what we are given is well written - with likeable characters and an enjoyable storyline. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see their interactions as a couple. We got the back and forth of them getting together, the stress over being together, and what happens afterward. But we didn't get to see them actually being together, in order to get that warm & fuzzy about their coupleness. Instead we spend most of the book in their heads. And I liked them so much from those peeks at their thoughts that I really wanted that. Overall, though, a good read and I'm looking forward to seeing what Douglass has in store for Melody's brother & her best friend.
This was a fun, fast read and I would recommend it. This is a new author for me and I will be looking into other books by Traci.
I very much enjoyed this clean read. Loved the characters & the writing was great! This childhood to lovers book is great!
How to Seduce a Bad Boy was my first novel by Traci Douglass and will NOT be my last. WOW!
I wanted a light-hearted romance and this one hit the nail on the head. The whole Bestfriend's Brother/Sister is one of my favourite tropes - the off-limits kind of love.
I really enjoyed the flirting and banter between the main characters and was totally invested in their story. The secondary characters were just as great and I can't wait to read more of them.
I am sooo excited for Lily and Jame's story next!
How to seduce a bad boy is the title of the book and I still don't believe that the boy wanted to be seduced. Melody should have kicked Adam to the curb and go for another man. The best friends sister trope is one of my favorites, but this time it didn't work for me. I wasn't a fan of the brother and the dynamics in the book. He was a douche, but the worst person was Adam. I never felt like he wanted to be with Melody in a forever way, more like he wanted a friends with benefits kind of relationship and that was the biggest letdown of the story. I was disappointed by the hero and he ruined the book for me. I wanted him to try harder, but it felt like Melody was doing all the work.
PS Lily and James' story sounded very interesting and I can't wait to read it!
Melody Bryant is a librarian. She’s also A 24-year-old virgin who wants to break out of the stereotype. How fast can she ruin her good girl reputation and get on the road to romance and love? She thinks she knows just the guy to get it done. Adam Foster. No biggie that it’s her big brother’s BFF and she’s been crushing on him since she was a teenager.
Adam Foster was a troublemaker as a teen. That was then. The military gave him structure. He has served his country honorably. Now he’s back home as part owner of the busiest mechanic shop in town. He’s got the hots for the gown librarian. Problem is his best friend and business partner is her older brother so she’s off limits. Right?
Melody wanted Adam and this time taking no for an answer was not an option. Adam has to save her from being the crazy spinster cat lady. Reluctantly, he agrees to help her “tarnish” her image to make her appealing to other guys. Then the “play acting” starts to get real. Falling for her was not in the plan. He’s not good enough for a girl like her.
These characters were engaging and so was the supporting casts.
The reactions of the people in town is predictable. What’s she doing with him kinda thing. Just what Melody wanted. The makeover her BFF Lilly gave Melody has guys taking notice. Adam is noticing too and doesn’t much like it. Melody sees only Adam. How can she let him go and move on after Adam has turned out to be everything she imagined?
So here are my thoughts - These two are adorable and I really enjoyed them. My problem? The flirting was hot. The kissing was hot. The innuendo was hot. Then we get to their first time having sex and we fade to black! Come on! I felt cheated after everything that led up to that point.
I wasn’t so interested in the darker aspects of what happened while Adam was enlisted. I wanted light, funny, sexy romance and Traci Douglass did that nicely. If you’re the type of reader that wants a little steam but not the full Monty then How to Seduce a Bad Boy is perfect.
Could not finish, it felt way to juvenile and it was way to cliche-ridden and slightly irritating for my taste.
Sweet story about falling in love for brother best friend. After another disaster date Melody decides to make a change and that the one who will help with changes will be her teenage crush and her brother best friend, Army vet and the town bad boy, Adam. At first, Adam doesn't want to participate with al her makeover but after giving some thoughts he decides that is better for him to help her than some stranger. Of course, sparks start flying the more time they spend together and they start a secret relationship. Adam insecurity is the one that in the end brakes them apart. Lovely read with great characters and really likable HE.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
How to Seduce a Bad Boy is a cute and sweet older-brother's-best-friend romance between the town librarian and an Army vet, and the first in the author's new Point Beacon series. The characters were fun to root for, and the setting was charming. Overall I enjoyed this one, and will definitely be looking for future series books.
But...Melody was a little *too* stereotypical librarian, IMHO--and her image was magically "fixed" with a makeover, haircut, and shopping trip that suddenly had men falling all over her. That totally happens, right? ;) (Personally, I was more of a fan of her after-after look, when she blended the new with the old and made her own "new" Melody.) I also was really not a fan of her brother and Adam getting together and deciding that it was going to be okay for them to date--Adam and Melody, not Adam and James--because, hello, someone important is missing from that discussion, gentlemen...
Those two issues aside, though, this was a fun read from a new-to-me author who I'll definitely read more from in the future!
