An annual bear hunt in Canada. The inhumane slaughter of minks for their fur. These and other such practices are what inspire a former Canadian special forces soldier K.J Pearce to wage war on behalf of animals. Together with a computer expert and a lawyer, Peace launches a campaign against those who profit from hurting animals. He starts with a mink farm who bribes regulators to overlook what they do. Next on the list are all the businesses who cater to hunters participating in the annual bear hunt. Before long, though, his efforts catch the attention of the FBI, as well as various animal rights groups. With one side chasing him and the other side supporting him, Pearce has started a war of sorts that may be unstoppable.

The Invisible Reich by Kenneth Allen Pazder, is a very thought-provoking novel. While it is a work of fiction, the issues that drive the plot are quite real: the treatment of animals and their use as a food source. The main character takes what might be considered violent actions in order to stop what he sees as moral actions. Reades are forced to evaluate their own position on whether animals should be treated the same as human beings. I enjoyed this book and give it 3/5 stars.

My last read before the holiday and honestly I only read it because I got an email from the publisher folks (Sarah). I know, probably not a real person but it did make me take the effort to read it.

I was surprised, I thought it would be a "animal rant" book but the Canadian SF /buddy angle caused this to be a really good book. No I didn't agree with all the philosophy but the writing is good and action scenes plausible.

It’s a thriller about an animal rights campaign and the ethical treatment of animals that is often overlooked.

Enjoy
