Just plain creepy. I wish I hadn't read the prequel posts first because now I am shaking all over. This is an original, and insanely twisted novel that ca frighten anyone.

Brian Kirk is an original voice in Will Haunt You crafting a scary read from start to end. Worth the read!

Great idea, strong beginning, uninspiring execution.

A heavy metal band, The Rising Dead, reforms for a gig. Jesse Wheeler-a former guitarist of the group - used to plat mean guitar solos and have fun. Things changed when he accidentally injured his son, leaving him permanently disabled. He destroyed his son's future and his career.

His past comes to hunt him in surreal dreams and vignettes. A lot is going on and most of it feels unclear, chaotic and unexplained. Some readers will find it haunting and exciting, but it didn't work for me. At all.

While the writing feels neat the story left me cold. Despite things going on I just didn't care and had to force myself to finish the book. Instead of feeling haunted I felt tired, bored and disinterested.

An interesting book to start out with, but I quickly got bored. And then...AND THEN the author pulled what I felt was a fast one. He gathered up a bunch of his blogger friends and asked them to post a prequel to this book on their blogs (presumably to garner excitement) as well as explain wtf was going on in this silly story.

Now as I said, read on its own you could figure the story out without the prequel. But I don't like starting in the middle of a book or walking late into a movie so this whole stunt just pissed me off. I was not interested in going on a treasure hunt blog tour to read a book that I was thinking was a three star book at best.

The book wasn't chilling or creepy or even weird. It just fell flat. It felt as real as The Bell Witch Project, which I also thought sucked gutter water. But if you liked that, give this a try.

Although this book seems to have attracted alot of hype I found it messy and disappointing, especially since it had a great start. A heavy metal band reform for a gig after about 20 years in a small American club, it brings back memories of the nostalgia of the old days. Driving home the main character hears references to himself on the radio and from that moment on the book disintegrates. The interesting story with the band disappears and we find out that everyone who has read this weird book is cursed in some way, bad things will happen to them, but only in dreamland which impacts the read world. We find out the main character (when he was using) was responsible for the brain damage of his child when he fell out of his cot. I quickly tired of these scenes, got bored and failed to finish the book. I have no idea whether the reader ever found out the origins of the book, nor do I care. Dull and disappointing.

Parts of this I really enjoyed....very tense and great twists. Other parts felt a little tangential. Overall, an enjoyable creepy read.

This book certainly had a creepy vibe along with a mad scientist feel to it. It vibed sort of like an old 1950s black and white horror movie. I would place this as a classical horror if that's a thing. This book was definitely entertaining and thrilling in some parts enough so as to hold my interest, but nothing beyond that. It was quite confusing at times and very far-fetched and didn't make much sense., but I guess that adds to the creepy aspect of the story. Not sure I'd recommend this book to anyone, but it wasn't terrible. It just wasn't enough.

When I sleep I tend towards bad dreams. The worst of them are these....you're in a nightmare and you think you've awakened and feel relief that the nightmare is over and then something else happens and you realize with dismay that you're still dreaming, and then this repeats itself over and over and all you want is to wake up, REALLY wake up, so you can tell yourself, "it was just a dream". "Will Haunt You" is like those never ending nightmares and Jesse is living them. He doesn't know what-or who-is real. He think's he's safe-and then know's he's not. He think's it's finally over-it's not, not yet. Will it ever be? Jesse is caught in this nightmare loop because he read a mysterious book. Before Chapter One Jesse warns the reader that reading this book opens the door to horrors that will invade your life...maybe tomorrow, next week or years from now....like a curse. Of course, read it I did and like Jesse I never knew who he could trust, what or who was real and how or if his horror would end. The story is certainly not a simple one, but it is very well executed. The writing is excellent. The scenarios are described so well you can easily picture them in your mind and the characters are vivid and well written. The author warns you that reading this book is dangerous. Live dangerously. Take your chances and read it.

Thankyou to NetGalley, Flame Tree Press and the author, Brian Kirk, for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Will Haunt You in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.
I am sorry but I feel like the book started in the middle of the story. There were moments whereby the storyline shows a lot of potential for a great read but not enough for me.

Will Haunt you.. it confused me, no hauntings. I did not give up on the book, but it was just not something I felt invested in. It made me feel I was mostly skipping a few pages. I got the impression it was trying to hard to be bigger.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

This book begins with a brilliant premise; an ex-alcoholic (Jesse) rocker plays a reunion gig with his band after a decade. As Jesse drives a fellow (inebriated) band member home, things get quite unreal and unnerving. The car radio heralds the 12AM nighttime disc jockey talking with Kevin - seemingly a call-in listener. Kevin also happens to be a member in the band. Jesse's car clock does not move past midnight. The disc jockey and Kevin begin talking about - and also to- Jesse as if they know he is listening and exactly where he is. Nonsense? Perhaps? Or a prank unfolding?

Things spiral downward for Jesse. He is caught in a web that both he - and the reader - have trouble (at times) even comprehending. "Nothing is as it seems..."

A superb introduction and a very terrifying start to the story urge the reader to read on and on...

Although not for everyone's taste, perhaps, all in all this read kept me intrigued.

Many thanks to Flame Tree Press and NetGalley for a different kind of story.

A twisted little tale. A man ends up in a never ending loop of mystery that forces him to face the mistakes of his past. This book started off strong, but I thought it got a little tedious at the end. The imagery is great, but I found too much going on. By the end I was left with more questions than answers. The author is definantly talented and I would read more. I'm going to give this 3 stars. I think many readers will have the same issues I did.
