I really wanted a chance to read these manga, but unfortunately the files expired before I had a chance to get to them. Based on cover design and description, a majority of the books sound interesting. Perhaps next time I will have time to read the eARC sooner.

Illustrations were beautiful here ad it's one of the things that got me interested in that manga. The storyline is easy - they meet, there is a conflict, and then they get married due to some spin, that was really intriguing.
I liked the story as it was light and easy to follow with the HEA of course.

Devon is a model, or well, was. She punched a dude (for very good reasons and I am generally very anti-violence) and got fired. Now she is without job, without much happiness, and then it is demanded she marries a son of a rich dude, and that son is, of course, the one she punched. Ah, this premise sounds so delightful. This sounds wrong, but given the fierceness of our girl, I wasn't worried she would just say yes. I expect tons of fire.

Ohhh, I love a girl who can punch. Go girl! I would have so done the same as her though if someone said those things to me. Yes, I am wearing a sexy dress, no that doesn't mean you can have sex with me or imply you want it. Go away. I was pissed off at the manager for just firing her. I get that action is needed, you can't just punch people willynilly (though this guy deserved it), but to fire her? Like that?

So my first impression of the girl was, wooohooo. The first impression of the guy (especially after comments he made as she walked away) wasn't good. I didn't like him. He has lots to proof.

So wait, hold on a second. Gordon, Ryan's brother married Bettina, who is the mother of Devon, who is our kick-ass girl, who needs to marry Ryan? Oh, my, I have an headache. Sure, Devon isn't really related to the family, but still, you are demanding the step-daughter of Ryan's brother to marry with Ryan. *shakes her head*

Also, was it really necessary to have so many close-ups of them kissing in 3 or 4 pages? Instead of going awww (though also eww because forced) I laughed. It looked so so silly.

What is up with these books and their arranged and fake marriages?

This whole story was just ridiculous. I was constantly rolling my eyes. But I did like that we saw the POV of both characters. This happens in other Harlequin manga as well, however not as much as in this one, it just a tiny bit, in here it is very important that we get to know Ryan's thoughts as well.

*snorts*Ah drama. Of course, why not. And like with all these manga, she believes that woman. Wow. Just wow. And then there is that revelation. *rolls here eyes*

The art? Eh, OK at points, but what was up with the hair, especially Bettina's. How much product does she have to use to have her hair like that? Or does she put her fingers in sockets in the morning for that extra zap? Also what was up with some of the scenes. Like the kissing scene, or when Ryan came to her (and you saw him 3 times) or when she was swimming. I just laughed.

And I was definitely not crying at the end. No way. *sniffles*

I loved Chikae Ide's artwork. There were so many large splash pages that are just begging to be coloured... even though this is obviously not a colouring book. Everything is so crisp and clear! Plus, I am so pleased with the constant barrage of flowery backdrops!

As for the plot, it was short, and very undeveloped compared to most other shoujo/josei manga I've read. But compared to other Harlequin manga, was one of the stronger stories. It was light, fast-paced and completely ridiculous. I had a lot of fun reading it!

Ryan and Devon met under unpleasant circumstances. The hotty-business-hunk insulted the supermodel for her beauty. He is actually attracted to Devon from the first sight but he does not want to admit it as he does not believe in love.

The fate later brings these people together. Ryan has to marry Devon to please his grandfather who is on his terminal illness. They problem is that Devon does not like Ryan and Ryan hates Devon for what her mother did to his elder brother. In the end, Devon marries Ryan and that is where the spicy things begin. As they two live together, they also develop their mutual relationship to an intimate one. The sparks begin to flatter around them as they are drawn closer to each other. The marriage that they plan to have for months suddenly seems like a life-time marriage. Ryan Kincaid has a change of heart and plans to purpose his Devon. It is unfortunate that Devon run away after an unpleasant encounter with Ryan’s mistress causing our hero to struggle winning her heart.

The book comes with beautiful illustration and the it portrays most parts of the story. Definitely a book ones should grab to warm their date over books.

Overall entertaining, but the transition from hate to deep love didn’t settle well with me. They didn’t get to know each other at all.

Review: So, the synopsis of this books sounds amazing: Devon had every reason to strike the man at the fashion show, but she was still fired for it. And after all, she had done to become a model! Depressed and beaten, she receives an invitation from the patriarch of an enormously wealthy family, one she knows well. Devon’s mother had already betrayed the family, so why would they call for her now? Well, it seems the patriarch is determined that Devon should marry his grandson, Ryan, the very same man from the show.
Usually, in these kinds of stories, the romance is everything and we get very little else, however, A Proper Wife has tons of backstory and history between the characters. It has so much of this that the romance element of the story takes a real back seat until right at the very end of the story where Devon and Ryan come together at last.
While this review is very short, I can honestly say this is one of my favourite Harlequin mangas to date and I am definitely considering picking up the original novel to check out how it compares to this sweet story.

It was definitely an interesting format to read a Harlequin story in. I realize that it limits what the author can put forward somewhat and we have to read a lot from expressions, things on the pictures etc. and because of that, I say it was a fun to read but I probably would not pick it up again. It was kind of underwhelming and a bit fake (as in it could convey emotions properly).

Ryan makes some offensive sexist remarks at a model during the fashion show and gets punched by the girl in return, and deservedly so. However the girl gest fired and their paths separate, or do they?

Unbeknownst to Ryan, the model from the fashion show is Devon, his former (and hated) sister-in-law's daughter and Ryan's grandfather has a plan for them: they should get married and make a dying man happy before his last days are over.

Ryan and Devon enter a marriage of convenience but Ryan is catching feelings for his sweet vulnerable bride. Is this love reciprocated or will past misunderstandings and secrets spoil their chance at love?

This is a passionate romance with a touch of angst that is a real page turner, do grab it!

I enjoyed the trope of the fake marriage, but I loved the deeper spin on how it happened. Devon is the daughter of a wicked women who was married to Ryan's brother. Ryan despises his brother's ex-wife and anything attached to her. These two start off in a bad way -- I loved that sucker punch! I enjoyed seeing them battle with their feelings and truth of their being "forced" to marry. Cute and quick read.

Devon agrees to marry Ryan because Ryan wants to please his grandfather who has a terminal illness. The only problem is Devon doesnt like Ryan. Their first meeting ended in Devon giving him a good punch in the face and she lost her modelling job because of it.

Ryan is a hot shot business man and really very arrogant. He is attracted to Devon but sees their fake marriage as a way of pleasing his grandfather in his last days. He doesn't believe in love and is convinced that Devon is not the nice person his grandfather thinks she is.

Also he is just annoyingly arrogant!

But as the two of them live together in a non sexual relationship, sparks begin to fly and the two of them are drawn to each other. Suddenly a marriage that was just for a few months seems as if it could last a life time, but that is because Ryan has actually fallen in love with her, even though he is arrogant.

But Devon doesn't know this and there is mischief afoot in the form of a spurned past lover. Will the two of them find the path to true love?

This is a beautifully quaint and romantic manga with lovely artwork. If you like a gentle romance where the guy gets the girl after a few hiccups along the way then this is definitely one for you.

Whoohoo! Finally a girl with spice. When Devon is embarrassed by the things Ryan says during a fashion show, she stand up for her self and delivers a well deserved smack down, literally! Next thing she know she is engaged and married to him to satisfy a "dying man's" last wishes.
I love manga and this was a great story and I loved the drawings.

I love the illustration so much! It's been a while since the last time I read HQ romance's manga and I adore this one so much! The story's classic HQ, the drama is kicking, and the HEA's just as beautiful as I thought it would be. Though it's kind of hard to see the characters as an adult because they look super young, I still adore the drawing.
Will definitely read more from this author and mangaka!

I think I read this harlequin in the 80', but it was still fun to reread the manga!
