BOSS is one of my favorite tropes. Plus add enemies to lovers and you can not go wrong. This latest read from Katy Evans is tame. Not what I was expecting.
With Alexandra Croft its all work and success. For years, she has become the best web designer for Cupid's Arrow, an online dating app. Yet when her boss Alastair announces his retirement it becomes her duty to guide his son and make sure he is groomed to be the new CEO. A crazy scenario considering why not make her acting CEO instead? Imagine that story??!!!
Alex is smart, sexy and determined to build her perfect life. Suddenly she's tempted by a man who's totally off-limits - her new delicious boss - Kit Walker.
Emotions run high as Kit's infuriating presence causes sparks to fly both in and out of the office. But a vicious smear campaign may prevent Alex and Kit's happy ever after.
In closing, I believe the Desire platform prevents the hotness and bad boy vibe I want from Katy Evans. I was introduced to her via Manwhore and its that spicy, explosive banter I want in my romance. If you have not read Katy Evans, this would be a great introduction. However, the heat she is known to generate comes from her titles in the Real and Manwhore series. Check them out also.

Alexandra is a strong businesswoman in a top position at a highly successful online dating website, Cupid’s Arrow. She’s been mentored by the CEO, and the company would falter without her. But when her boss decides to retire, he asks Alex to mentor his son, Kit, who is to take over the company for him. Unfortunately, Kit is a trust-fund playboy and Alex isn’t thrilled to be babysitting. But their sexual attraction is immediate and smokin’ hot, and they have to work through their personality differences and their own internal issues.

I usually really love office romances AND first person stories, and so I was prepared to enjoy this book a lot. But there was something about Alex’s personality that I just felt disconnected from. Kit was sexy and compassionate and pretty much to-die-for, even with all his flaws, but I had a harder time relating to Alex, which is what made this book more of a 3.5 star for me. I rounded up because it wasn’t a bad book by any means.

The book did keep my attention, although it took me a few days to read it. Overall, the romance was great and the story had a great ending, but I just never really felt like I empathized with Alex all that much.

Thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not even sure where to start on this book. It’s the first one I’ve read by Katy Evans and definitely won’t be the last. I really enjoyed reading Boss and can’t wait to read William’s story. I really loved the characters, especially the connection between Alex and Kit. They were hot and juicy and I loved it. I did wish there was more of Ellie, in fact she’d be cute with William or maybe even have her own story. This book will have you swooning from beginning to end and leave you wanting so much more. Definitely recommend this for your 2019 read. You won’t be disappointed.

***3.5stars***. I’m honestly not sure what makes a book Harlequin. Is it just the company name and authors write under that company? Or is it a set of cheesy romance books? Boss wasn’t your typical Katy Evans book. The writing was fine. But the story one was cheesey. Alex is in charge at an app company. When her boss decides to retire he wants his wayward son, Kit, to take over. He asks Alex to help Kit transition into his new role. Alex and Kit start off as office enemies, but quickly become a couple. I get that they were sexually attracted to one another, but they fell into bed and into love rather quickly. This was a quick easy read, but I didn’t love it. I’m sure I’m in the minority on my feelings towards this book. I will continue to read everything Katy Evans writes, but I need to look into what harlequin means for future reference.

Boss by Katy Evans is newest addition to Harlequin Desire. A novella with an irresistible alpha hero, a sassy heroine and a swoonworthy story.

Meet Kit Walker, son of Alastair the CEO of the heroine's workplace. He's a bit of a immature manchild and has to prove himself to his father.
Alexandra Croft is a successful, workaholic head of departement at Cupid's Arrow. She's about to get a new boss and become his mentor - yay - not.
And to make matters worse, the complicated situation becomes more complicated when feelings are involved.
Boss is a sweet romance with a few twists and turns. All in all an good read, entertaining from start til end.

Now going into this I knew this would be a steamy office romance and I was not wrong – which I am so okay about. Yes, the office romance trope has been played but I still enjoyed going back into the romance world and that being the one trop I read first – I know I am a weird reader. Kit, an inexperienced boss gets schooled and mentored by Alexandra.

I actually enjoyed how contrasting and complimenting the characters were to each other. Alexandra felt like the fire to Kits cool and sexy vibes. However, the chemistry at times between the two characters felt mediocre on the emotional front. It was obvious they have a lot of sexual chemistry and I was able to read through each lustful encounter. There were some notable scenes that gave me hope towards seeing some more emotion, but it was something I definitely wanted more of. I think a bit more would have made the overall chemistry more believable in my eyes.

This was the first book I’ve read form the author and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the flow of the story as well as the quick pace vibe it gave me. It was well written, didn’t beat around the bush too much and you knew where everyone was for the most part standing. I also enjoyed the flirtation throughout the novel, loved the tension building scenes right before the actions and was able to devour this story in one sitting. There were a few inconsistencies in character development, such as what the author wanted Alexandra too be. Alexandra’s character flipped flopped between a fierce, independent woman to a woman craving all the lustful desire. I would have wanted the two identities to be intermingled into one because let’s face it, you can have a woman who is both independent and craves what she wants sexually.

Overall, it was a good read and I would recommend to those who are lovers of romance and those who want to pick up a quick steamy romance to start them off in the genre.

Alexandra Croft helps to run one of the top dating apps and couldn’t be happier with her life until the owner’s son Kit Walker comes in to take over. Not only is he going to be Alexandra’s boss, but she has to mentor him to make sure he does a good job. Alexandra’s not happy, she’s used to being in control and now she’s got to deal with a guy who’s the black sheep of the family and hasn’t held a real job telling her how to do hers.
The writing is steamy, the characters are hot, and the storyline is one that keeps you reading until the very end. No boring parts, No “filler”, just a great read from start to finish. *Received a copy from Netgalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Katy Evans has delivered a great short, fast paced, insta-love story that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. with this one.

Alex Croft has her dream job at Cupids Arrow and when she is asked to access the CEO's son and mentor him to see if he can take over as CEO she never expected the hot AF, drop-dead gorgeous, panty-melting Brit.

Soon as these two meet the chemistry between them is off the charts hot! Its not long until lines are blurred and underwear is dropped. The steam will be seriously pouring off your kindle with this one.

4 star review of Boss by Katy Evans
This was a light hearted, easy to read and flirty story that was also a quick read. I really enjoyed this office romance and the main characters of Kit Walker and Alexandra Holt. Just the idea of a British hero is enough to get me one clicking, I just love them.
Kit is about to become Alex's new boss as his father is retiring and he is taking over the company. Sparks fly and the chemistry between Kit and Alex is smoking hot. One of the biggest issues between Kit and Alex is that they both want to be the one in charge.
Boss is full of passion, humour, love and yet at times was also quite emotional. Well written and engaging I had no trouble reading this one in one sitting.
Who will come out on top in this struggle between Kit and Alex?

Sexy, scorching and simply irresistible, Boss is New York Times best-selling author Katy Evans’ debut for Harlequin Desire and it’s absolutely fantastic! With a suave British hero who gives Tom Hardy a run for his money, a sassy and intelligent heroine and plenty of passion, drama and sensuality, Boss is a fabulously fast-paced contemporary tale romance readers will not want to miss.

Alexandra Croft might be at the top of her professional game, but when it comes to her personal life, it is a complete and utter disaster. Alex cannot remember the last time she went out on a date and she spends most of her nights at home in her apartment alone re-heating yesterday’s take-out – which is kind of ironic seeing as she works for Cupid’s Arrow, one of the world’s most popular dating apps! Alex’s job means absolutely everything to her – which is why when she hears that her boss is retiring, she is absolutely distraught! What is even worse, is that her boss is handing over the reins to his son, Kit, who has never done a single day’s work in his life! Worse, Kit also happens to be the sexiest man she has ever clapped eyes on! Staying professional has just got a lot harder for Alex…

Kit Walker is well aware of his father’s opinion of him. He knows that his dad thinks that he is a good for nothing layabout who cares only about partying, traveling and women, so he is determined to prove him wrong and to show all his doubters that there is more to him than meets the eye – starting with his father’s protege, Alexandra Croft! Alex might be spiky and stubborn, but Kit has never met a woman who is impervious to his charm and he is determined to show her just who is in charge in the office. However, little does he realize that Alex is not so easily intimidated – not even by somebody as devastatingly attractive as he is!

Thrust into close proximity together, the chemistry between Kit and Alex is off the charts. Giving into temptation soon proves inevitable and Alex ends up breaking her number one rule of never mixing business with pleasure. But has she ended up finding her perfect match? Or has she just made the biggest mistake of her life?

A sensational contemporary romance that is simply first class, Boss is a fabulous tale of illicit attraction, forbidden desire and red-hot passion that has got winner written all over it. Katy Evans breathes new life into the much-loved office romance trope and has penned a great read that is funny, charming, poignant and very sexy!

I thought Kit was a wonderful hero who charmed me from the moment he first appeared on the page and Alex was a brilliant heroine: smart, intelligent, compassionate and a woman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly; we certainly need more heroines like her in romantic fiction!

A terrific tale that I simply couldn’t stop reading, Boss is a must-read for contemporary romance fans everywhere!

4 1/2 STARS!

Confidant characters, steamy attraction and secret liaisons make for a delectable read from Katy Evans as she makes her debut in the Harlequin Desire line! It didn't take me long to fall under the spell of their story and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them work towards their happily ever after!

Alexandra Croft loves her job of creating the hottest dating app around right now, but when the boss she adores announces he's stepping down and his playboy, never held down a job in his life son is stepping in, she knows things are about to change.

Kit Walker is determined to show his dad that he can step into his shoes and things won't fall apart. He knows he has Alex looking over his shoulder and resents it a bit, but when they sit down and decide to start fresh after their resentment of each other, the attraction that's been flaring since day one comes back out in full force.

I love a good office romance and BOSS by Katy Evans does not disappoint. The two main characters both work for Cupid’s Arrow, the area’s premier dating app. At only twenty-four years old, design manager Alexandra Croft is a force to be reckoned with. She is talented, a workaholic, and well respected by her boss and colleagues.

Kit Walker was just appointed CEO of Cupid’s Arrow, his father’s company. With little to no business experience, Kit has big shoes to fill. He has spent most of his life living the life of luxury. He is extremely good-looking and a quick learner. Alex does not cut Kit any slack, especially because she believes he has no clue about the workings of a corporation. However, they share a sexual spark that cannot be denied.

I did not like Alex for a good portion of the book, since her attraction to Kit overtakes her common sense and ability to do her job. However, at the same time I completely understood her infatuation, it was genuine and true to life. Kit’s good-looks, personality and fairness in the workplace is an irresistible combination. Their sexy times are hot and passionate.

This is a nicely written love story with an engaging plot and well-defined characters. I found Alex and Kit to be intelligent and real. Their time together was replete with lustful attraction, while Kit’s romantic gestures made me swoon. Overall, this is a solid romantic read.

Short, sexy, addictive and full of tension are some of the words I could use to describe this book. BOSS is the first story by Katy Evans for Harlequin Desire, and what a story! The characters are strong and stubborn, their give and take was as fun as it was hot, and chapter after chapter that heat turned into an inferno. The chemistry between Kit and Alex was explosive; also the book has all those qualities that made us love Harlequin Desire over the years: heat, love and an engaging plot. In short, BOSS is a real page turner and now I’m looking forward for more of this author with Harlequin Desire.

Alexandra Croft is a workaholic and all about business. She is a designer for Cupid’s Arrow, a dating app. The company is owned by Alistair Walker. Alistair has decided to retire and in his place his playboy son Kit will take his place. Alex is given the job to keep an eye on Kit. They are like oil and water in the beginning until they both realize that they need to work together for the good of the company. Soon sparks begin to fly as they begin spending more time together. Could Alex be wrong about Kit? Will Kit help Alex loosen up and learn there is more to life than work?
Alex and Kit butt heads at the beginning of the story, but after several meetings when they learn about each other they realize that there is something there. I liked the chemistry between Alex and Kit as they both realize they balance each other out. This was a quick enjoyable read and I look forward to the next book in this series.

Unfortunately I was unable to finish this book. I couldn't engage with the lead characters and their dialogue came across as very juvenile. This is not a typically excellent Katy Evans book and I wonder how much was rewritten at the publisher's request. DNF at 20%

What a nice quick-paced romance Katy Evans gave us in BOSS. It was full steam ahead for Kit and Alexandra as they battled it out on who was the alpha in an office environment. So if you are a fan of forbidden office romance with an HEA this book is for you!Alexandra is definitely a woman to be desired - smart, ambitious, career driven, and a bit of Type A. Perfect counterpart to bad-boy/party-man turned dating app mogul heir. Their chemistry was sizzling from the start and while they played it cool they romance took off like a rocket. At that point it felt like the whole thing was whirlwind of rushed emotions, which unfortunately lost me. All the right elements were there. I enjoyed the read for sure and will be following Kit's brother's story for sure in hopes of getting the connection to the story that I was not able to achieve in BOSS.
