I have to say the description of this novel does not fully depict the actual story, but I was pleasantly pleased with it. The beginning was slow and hard to navigate as the idea of an aunt writing to her nephew regarding her life was a bit odd at first. The jumping back and forth and trying to understand the relationship between the too was difficult. As the story played out, I enjoyed learning of Aunt Olivia's life. I think the book could have just focused on that without the element of the nephew.

I did enjoy reading about the life of Olivia and the different stages of her life, both for better and for worse..

Thank you Netgalley!

The plot unfolds as a series of letters between an aunt (Olive) and her nephew (Jason) which I found to be an interesting format. What is slowly revealed is Olive’s life and how she came to regret the choices she made. A position in Society that costs far too much in terms of happiness and the shallowness associated with that. Thought provoking and intriguing. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.

This was a wonderful read! Its well written and I found the format of letters from an Aunt to her Nephew to be intriguing. While I didn’t agree with the choices that Olivia made and she most definitely had her flaws she was a character that I found interesting and relatable. This book is all about how a person’s choices can impact their entire life and what can happen when you choose money over love. All of the characters were well written and the story kept me entertained until the very end.

When I saw the title of this book, I was immediately intrigued. I'd just watched MOLLY'S GAME and automatically thought it'd be something similar. Not exactly, but I was positively surprised.

The description of the book said, "novel which explores how our society shapes who we are and the decisions we make." And even though that sounds like almost every single women's fiction book these days, THE SOCIETY GAME has an addictive angle to it.

The writing is good. Really good. For a while, I couldn't even understand where it was going but it flows so well, you feel like you just want to trust your imagination into Lanfermeijer's words and go along with it.

I wouldn't exactly call it gripping. More like thought-provoking and captivating. And it really makes you wonder what's behind those forever perfect plastic smiles you see on Facebook or else sometimes.

Big thanks to the author for the copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was captivated by this book and the letters the aunt sent to her nephew. It truly represents what is important despite the facade she presented to society. Incredible read.
