A good combination of Romance and Fantasy. I liked the story but the narration was boring sometimes.

I was drawn in by the summary. I was so curious to see what would happen.

The story follows Nik who is a young woman living in Florida. She seems normal and believes she is normal, but she really isn't. Bas is a merman tasked in obtaining Nik's help to find the way for his species to be able to stay on land as long as they want. Things happen and the two start to fall for each other...but is it against his species laws.

I was intrigued the moment I started. I was curious about the story itself and how the Nerei is going to get what they want and the secrets behind Nik. I was curious, also, about how they were going to be together. The Nerei have strict, strict laws against human and merfolks.

I was eh about Nik. She was okay in the end. It took me a while to warm up to her. I liked Bas right away. Not sure why, but I liked him a bit.

The writing wasn't bad, but it feel like it too WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long to get anywhere. Too much dialogue. I felt bored sometimes and I had to skim here and there.

Even though I had to skim from time-to-time, I still enjoyed the story. Weird, I know. I also really wanted to know what would happen, so I kept on reading.

The ending was okay...I wanted more answers, but we'll have to wait until book 2. I am slightly curious to see what happens next.

Overall, this wasn't horrible. It was pretty okay. Yes, there were some slow as a snail bits that I had to skim, but I was still invested overall. I wanted to know what would happen. The writing wasn't bad, but it just took too long to get anywhere. I'll stamp this with 3 stars.

This is a very interesting take on the story of mermaids/mermen It is a slow burn that draws us in and keeps you turning the pages wondering just what will happen next

Aphrodite Agathaniki Aronopulos (Nik) lives in Florida which isn't probable the smartest move when she is constantly having nightmares about drowning. Bas is a Nerei is assignment is to find out how Nik survives on land (there is a secret there) Overall this is a wonderful slow burn romance but there is plenty of greek mythology suspense and drama thrown in to keep the story rolling along
