Sorry not Sorry by Sophia Ranald (Dec 2018)

Charlotte is stuck in a rut and would love to put some spark in her dating life. She loves her job, has great friends, but is missing a man. She happens upon a podcast, Sorry not Sorry, and starts to take up the challenges. Charlotte finally finds a man that she can feel excited about, but everything is not as it seems in her world.

Charlotte has to navigate office politics, insecurities when it comes to her new boyfriends, and dealing with some misunderstandings with her friends.

I liked Charlotte, she is an interesting character. The conflict with her friends seems a bit unnecessary. If she and Maddy were really that close, why did they not talk about the issues right from the start? Instead each one didn’t want to upset her friend, and things got a bit out of hand.

Tansy, one of Charlotte’s new housemates, is a great addition to the story. Adam is a bit of a mystery, though we learn more about him towards the end of the book. Miles rubbed me the wrong way right from the start, it was hard to like him.

This story was fun and funny, and I really enjoyed it. It started out a bit slow, but after a few chapters I couldn’t put it down. I would recommend it for a quick, light read.

I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for my review.

I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am on the fence about this book. I thought for sure it was going to deliver the laugh out loud romantic comedy it promised; unfortunately it fell a little short for me. Don't get me wrong, this was a really nice romance book. I really enjoyed reading about Charlotte's quest to find something other than "okay" in the romance department. Between her job, her new roommates, and her old roommates/best friend getting married, there was plenty going on for Charlotte to maneuver through, but I just didn't get as much in the comedy part of "romantic comedy" as I wished for. There were a few unexpected events through the story, and some not-so-unexpected events, that I really enjoyed; by the time I came to the end of the book though, I just felt a little let down. Overall, this was a solid, mostly light, romance story that I would definitely recommend as some summer beach reading.

Having read all of Sophie Ranalds books I knew I had to read this one as everyone is unique and so good.
Sorry Not Sorry is a fantastic 4.5 star book that really hooked me in from the very beginning.
It had me laughing out loud, cringing and falling in love with the characters.
Charlotte is the sort of person readers can really get behind and relate too.
She had me feeling a plethora of emotions for her throughout the book.
This storyline is captivating and so good I binge read it overnight (who needs sleep when you can rock the zombie look).
My original plan was to read half then go to sleep then finish it the following day but there was no way I was putting this book down once I started reading it.
The twists and turns kept me hooked and Charlotte really had me hooked to her story as if it was my own.
This book is so so good and you really have to one click it as soon as you can.
I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book given to me by Netgalley.

Many thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

Charlotte is a smart woman working as office assistant in a busy finance company in London. Her hectic job gives her little time to date, and she begins to listen to a podcast called Sorry Not Sorry, giving her encourage to try different tactics to meet a man to love. Charlotte's best friend Maddie is getting married, and Charlotte is also very involved with arrangements. She also has two new housemates, Tansy and Adam, to get to know. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, it's an electric relationship. But will it last?

I enjoyed this chicklit book, though it lagged a little in the middle. But well worth reading.

Sorry Not Sorry is a cute and endearing read that any woman can relate to! I devoured this book in one sitting and felt very connected to Charlotte (which is a must have for me). I hope the author continues writing books like this in the future because I will be one of the first people to buy it! I loved this to pieces.

I know, I know, contemporary romance isn't really my thing, but I like to step out of my comfort zone every once in a while and there was just something about this title that made me want to read it. It sounds like the perfect and fun summer or beach read... And I still believe it fits that title perfectly. You see, I think the problem here was mostly me, and not Sorry Not Sorry. There were things I liked about the story, and the humor is definitely more than present. I was able to click with the funny moments, and I like the sharp, quirky and entertaining writing style in general. It sure is a superfast read as well! But I wasn't prepared for the many so-called 'sexy' scenes, which are quite a turn off for me. I also don't like seeing tropes as cheating and a love triangle in a story... (There are others as well, but I can't mention those due to possible spoilers.) This overdose of romance cliches in general was just way too much for me. I also didn't really like at all the bitchiness of some of the characters or the way some of them behaved in general... Also, Charlotte herself could get quite annoying at points. I do believe that contemporary romance fans who love a good dose of humor in their stories will have a blast with Sorry Not Sorry though.

As the cover already suggests, Sorry Not Sorry is a fun, quirky and entertaining read and perfect for those hot summer days while sipping on a cocktail (or juice if you don't drink alcohol). The writing style is engaging and the humor was actually one of the things I really liked in Sorry Not Sorry. Then again, I like my humor a bit sarcastic and spicy. There were other things I didn't like in Sorry Not Sorry, but I have the feeling that is mostly my own fault and not the story itself. Fans of the genre will have a great time with this one!

I am sitting on a bus leaving New York and I couldn’t even wait to get in front of my laptop to write a review... this book was THAT. GOOD.
Charlotte feels like a dear friend at this point. The reality of modern dating is so poignant throughout this novel and I know I and my friends can relate to the absolute misery/high that is the current dating scene.
I took this book slowly because it was one of those novels you know you’ll be sorry to see end. Hell, I even slacked on some finals studying to read instead of work on my dissertation... I’m not
sorry that’s for sure ;)
Charlotte is a lovely, modern woman, trying to make her way in the world. I loved that the true journey wasn’t about finding herself through a relationship, but instead, finding herself without one.
I even love all the male characters (f**k boys included because she made them dynamic instead of a super obvious villain)
I also loved how realistically female friendships were portrayed. Beautiful Tansy doesn’t have to be a bitch and friends can see through the dram (angry eyes at you, Bianca) and be the loyal person you needed them to be.
Finally, that last minute twist???? I was screaming. Loved it. Hated it. Needed it.
Overall, I want all of my friends to read this book so they know they aren’t alone in the insanity of dating.

Sorry Not Sorry is the latest release from Sophie Ranald, an author I'd not previously heard of before spying this on Netgalley, the bright blue over with a big Margarita glass on the front drew me straight in.

After living with best friend Maddy and Maddy's fiance Henry for several years, Charlotte finds herself left in a house-share with strangers after Maddy and Henry achieve the ultimate of London-living millennial goals, buying their own house. They're replaced with model-like fashion worker Tansy and Henry's introverted yet opinionated cousin Adam. Not long after her housemates move out Charlotte discovers the 'Sorry Not Sorry' podcast, which encourages her to take on a series of dating related challenges that force her outside of her comfort zone.

This is seemingly set in 2017, there are references to tinder, bumble, snapchat and Prince Harry's engagement abound, but my favourite has to be Charlotte's musings about Malteaser buttons, girl read my mind, waste of space or best chocolate ever, I'm really not sure.

This was exactly the kind of book I needed, getting on a train after a long day at a London conference, relatable, funny and just the right amount of fluffy romantic comedy. The characters are great and I loved that this not only focused on Charlotte's romantic relationships but her friendships as well. This is also one of the first books I've read where podcasts have featured so heavily, I adore podcasts and listen to them all the time so it was nice to see them given some airtime. Overall, a great read that I'd recommend to any romantic comedy fan, 4 stars.

Sorry Not Sorry is every good girl turned bad life mantra. And that's definitely the case here in Ranald's humorous and sweet novel about stepping out of the box and letting your hair down. Readers are swept up along Charlotte's journey to finding herself and true love. The story begins with a hopeful heroine being thrown into the typical trenches of adulthood - flatmates are moving out, bridal showers, and the agony of work. She finds a motivating podcast that makes her take risks that allows her to explore her sexuality, femininity, and friendships. Charlotte's relationships - romantic or otherwise, are a bumpy road that will make readers sigh in frustration but in the end it's all worth it.

This was a fun, romantic AND pro-woman's book. The main character, Charlotte, begins listening to a podcast for Bad Girls and decides to participate in the proposed challenges, which completely change her life. Along the way, she finds love, romance and heartache, and she makes new friends, new enemies, and other relationships change, for better or worse.

I enjoyed this book, even if bits were obvious and some things were tied up a bit too neatly. Would be interested in reading more from this author.

Thank you to Bookouture, Sophie Ranald, and Netgalley for the pre-pub access to this book!

I really loved this book! Honestly, it did take me a few chapters to get into it but once I did it was drew me in and didn't let me go. I loved all the various conflicts and triumphs that the heroine goes through and the through line of the podcast was a great tool to use throughout to set up the different chapters. Overall loved it!

This was a lovely, fluffy read. The protagonist was well thought out & very likeable, and I enjoyed how all the pieces came together by the end. A nice light read for a busy time of year.

This is Charlotte book, Charlotte is tired of her boring goody two shoes life and wants to spice things up! She stumbled across an old podcast called sorry not sorry that challenges women to embrace their inner bad girl! She goes on a bunch of different dates the guy she thinks she's going to end up with has a pretty big secret of his own! I'm but for some reason this book just didn't hold my attention?! I found every few chapters my mind just wandered? I really think some people will enjoy reading this book it just wasn't for me?! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

I was so excited about this book. British chick lit is a fave genre! But somehow this book didn't land for me. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised by how this book was written. The title caught my attention immediately. The story was interesting enough that made me want to figure out how this would end, and I was wrong every time I guessed. The ending was perfect and sort of what I predicted after the first few tries. I would have like a bit more resolution on other story lines, maybe a sequel is in the works. I'm a fan Tansy and would like to see where she goes next. As well as our protagonist, Charlotte!!
