A Sweet Romance:

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, soooo

As usual this author being the wordsmith she is has delivered. A beautifully detailed story that is well written and developed. The connection and the chemistry between the H and H was amazing, believable and honest. A superbly crafted novel that is smart, witty, vividly written and flows easily.

I thoroughly enjoyed the build up of the relationship between the main characters, this author's realistic writing style drew me into the story so much I felt as if I was actually there.

I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you CBB 😁

The writing was okay, the characters could have been explored more and the plot--albeit boring--was just okay as well. In general, I'm not the biggest fan of instalove, but I usually can ignore this if the story is well written and gripping. That wasn't really the case. The book is a feel-good light read and although it wasn't my cup of tea, I'd still recommend for those looking for a summer/beach read.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Crystal B. Bright weaves a great story full of love, passion, and strong characters with realistic flaws who are striving to reach their dreams of success and love. Past readers will not be disappointed with the continuation of a great series of love stories that make your heart beat faster and sake your thirst for a happily-ever-after. New readers can jump right in, as this story can be read in series as well as all on it’s own.

I really struggling with this book from the beginning. The characters didn't seem to mesh and were more mean together then they were meant to be together.

I was ready to stop reading this when they Tassia and Hyde went to his grandparents house. It seemed like the book and the characters found their focus. I loved the last quarter of the book and wished the first half was more like it.

I wish I could rate this 5 stars so badly, but I can't. The premise is interesting, I love the characters (especially some of the side characters, OMG Pepper!), and Crystal Bright's writing style is at times captivating. But this book at times reads like a second or third draft that hasn't been properly edited and through necessary rewrites to tighten up the story, and even giving it a 3 stat rating I'm sitting here wondering if I should be calling it 2.5 stars.

The inconsistencies and character motivation whiplash aren't super obvious until almost halfway into the book, when I was already way too invested and there way no way I was going to DNF because I cared about Tassia and Hyde *A LOT* and needed to know how everything resolved and that they got their happy endings. But many of their actions and motivations were totally whack. Like Hyde deciding to take Tassia with him on his writing retreat? Why not just disappear on his own on a "writing retreat"? Some of both the lead characters' decisions were like to give me whiplash. "I would never do this thing. *turns around and immediately does the thing* " WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

I was really surprised to go look up the author's page on Goodreads and see she has 10 books out. Usually when I see writing like this, it's a debut and this a little more understandable that the writing lacks some cohesion and polish. Again, the writing is really amazing, the characters are PHENOMENAL and real and super lovable and relatable (despite being music stars, lol), and the plot line and themes are great. It just needs really badly to have a thorough going through with a good editor. :/ And I really want to read the first two books in the series, but at the same time I don't because based on other reviews it looks like they have similar all-over-the-place, need-some-good-editing-love issues.

This is the third book in the Love and Harmony Romance series, but it can be read as a stand alone.

Crazy on You by Crystal B. Bright is the third and final book in her Love and Harmony series. I haven’t read the others in the series, but I know this book is a great way to end it. Bright dedicated the entire Love & Harmony series to people looking for redemption and second chances.

Tassia Hogan, former child TV star, is at a crossroad in her music career. Her one-line hook in a recently released song has sent the wrong message to both fans and industry executives. She’s been offered an opportunity to record an album of duets with popular country music star, Hyde Love. Tassia isn’t excited to be working with her former castmate and definitely isn’t expecting a relationship beyond the music.

Hyde Love, former child TV star, is at the peak of his music career. He’s looking forward to taking a break from his hectic schedule and has no interest in recording an album of duets with R & B artist, Tassia Hogan. Hyde just wants to be left alone and isn’t looking for love or even a casual relationship.

Despite the different genres, Tassia and Hyde find that they can make beautiful music but resist anything more. Together they make discoveries about the past, each other and themselves.

This romance novel is a complete standalone. I was happy to find that Bright has approached the interracial relationship from a fresh viewpoint. The novel isn’t about race. It’s all about love and trust. I give Crazy on You 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance. The explicit sex scenes may be offensive to some readers.

My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

3.5 stars

Tassia is an R&B singer/songwriter who, despite being signed to a prestige label, can't seem to break out. Her biggest claim to fame to date has been her stint on a children's show when she was 10 years old -- think Barney, but instead of a purple dinosaur, it was a baseball cap wearing rat (no, that is not a typo) and singing the catchy but suggestive hook to the top of the charts rap song. She is a well regarded songwriter who writes hits for other artists but who really wants to do her own solo album.

Hyde Love is a country singer/songwriter who was also one one of the kid stars of the show along side Tassia. But his career trajectory has been very different from Tassia's. He is a big country star with massive popularity. Big hits, big career. But the one thing that has eluded him is recognition in the industry. He's never won any awards.

The two are brought together by Tassia's label with an idea to create a duets album that melds their two styles together. Neither one is enthused. Tassia sees it as a poor substitute and yet another frustrating delay for her solo album and is afraid Hyde's higher profile would obscure her even further. Hyde doesn't feel that pairing up with Tassia would be be a way to get award recognition, far from it, and he has tried for years to distance himself from any memories of his childhood involvement in the Ratty Rat crew (no that is not a typo) and if he pairs up with Tassia that would dredge up all those things he wants to forget.

I thought the premise of this was nice. I also liked how the author conceptualized the characters. Tassia had a bad girl RiRi vibe going, but I pictured looking like and having the career of a Keri Hilson and the voice of Lauryn Hill.

Hyde was a bit of a beta hero who had been a chubby kid with an overbearing father-manager. He'd grown up to be a hard bodied, handsome man but still struggles with his father who is still his manager and who sometimes does not seem to have his best interests at heart.

I also liked the presentation of the music industry. Especially in regards, Tassia. Like I said I pictured her as having the career of Keri Hilson -- who has written hits for many other artists but who biggest vocal impact was her singing on Timbaland's 'The Way I Are' song. Her own albums have been pretty forgettable. Tassia's frustration with her label (who do seem to be on her side) and her unhappiness with her career are very well drawn. Also her management team don't seem to hustle for her. She sounds just like all those R&B singers who have tremendous talent but for some reason can't quite make it over the hump to real celebrity or acclaim.

Hyde was also very well drawn. I could easily see him being some big country-bordering on pop star who sells ton a of records have girls screaming in love for him, but just can't quite be taken seriously by his own industry. I will say I think one thing that didn't quite ring true, the author makes no mention of the CMAs or CMTs. One thing I have noticed as a pop culture observer over the years is that country music takes care of its own. A person like Hyde would have had at least one of those even if he could never get a grammy.

The romance I think is where this falls down a bit for me. I think it happened way too quickly. Tassia and Hyde retreat to write their album but they are already boning by, like day 3. It just didn't feel really organic for me. I would have liked a more of a simmer before turning it up to a boil. I feel that the connection would have felt deeper if they had slowly falling i love over the course of writing the album, rather than screwing on every surface. And they do have sex. A Lot.

There are some lies and betrayals that happen that are the heart of the conflict which, although very telegraphed, I think were effective. Also I am not normally a fan of a grand public gesture but Hyde's gesture to Tassia at the end was also very effective and well placed in in the narrative of the story.

A nice read.

Crystal B. Bright is a new author for me. This book is number 3 in her Love&Harmony series. And no it's not necessary to have read the other books. This book was good so I will definitely check out her other books. I was fortunate to receive an ARC through Net Galley but the opinion is my own. Tassia Hogan and Hyde Love know each other from a television series that featured them as teenagers. The two reconnect when asked to do an album of duets. Each has their reason for wanting to participate. For Hyde this provides cover for a much needed vacation. Tassia wants more in her career and hopes this album will help boost her career. The chemistry between the two is good. My only fault with the book is one too many lies from the hero and the fact that the heroine too easily forgives him.

This book has a fun and interesting plot line, but the execution of the story was lacking, in my opinion. Tassia isn't a very talented studio singer who has been on tour with a national headliner singing the hook to a number one chart topping single. It's extremely difficult to reconcile this version of the woman with the one who is completely clueless that a megastar singer(Hyde Love) would have a body double or a house with a studio in it. Again, the plot is interesting, but it lurches and lumbers along leaving the reader to wonder how Tassia went from cold, distant, bitter and indifferent to jumping into Hyde's lap and making the first move.

The supporting characters are also a bit of an enigma. They are memorable and well conceived, but their personalities are a bit underdeveloped, making their contributions to the story seem a means to an end rather than an enrichment of the plot and storylines. I would like this story quite nicely if the transitions through the elements were smoother.

I love romance stories where you can live through the lives of the characters. Bright was able to do that with the characters she created. I felt drawn into a world of hope, love, and expectation of love that will surpass every storm and trial. This book brought a smile to my face and it brought a tear to my eyes.

Crazy On You by Crystal B. Bright is a must read!! This book is a friends to enemies to lovers romance that centers around singers Tassia and Hyde.

Tassia and Hyde have history. Both starred on the same tv show as children. Hyde was a shy and chubby kid that secretly crushed on his co-star, Tassia. Tassia was a talented singer that showed Hyde kindness. After an incident with the show producers, Tassia leaves the show. Luckily, fate decided that these two belonged together and intervened.

As adults, Hyde has reached ultimate success, while Tassia struggles to find her big break. Her break will come in the form of a crossover album featuring the country star and sultry voiced singer. Initially, neither is excited about the opportunity. Hyde wants to leave his days on the children’s show in the past and Tassia feels that she has paid her dues and is ready for a solo album.

Individual motivations lead the two into close quarters as they begin to write music and record their album. The romance between Tassia and Hyde is a slow burn. There are past hurts and rejection that influence their current emotions. Poor choices by Hyde, cause Tassia to be resist the relationship. However, love will win out and Tassia and Hyde will get their happily ever after that was years in the making.

I love Hyde’s cousin and grandparents. They were great additions to the storyline and made me laugh out loud. Both Tassia and Hyde had fathers that served as their managers. The difference is that Tassia maintains a loving relationship with her father but not a professional connection. Hyde on the other hand is still managed by his father but their familial relationship is pretty much nonexistent.

Crazy On You is a wonderful IR book that you definitely need to one click. The only complaint that I have about the book is that I am still sitting here wishing that their album was really about to drop…. because I am hooked and want to hear their collaboration haha.

I was a little Leary of this book because i looked at the books before it and saw mixed reviews but I said why not?! I'm really glad I did! It was a really good story! This is the third book of the series but the first one I've read, you definitely don't have to read the other books in the series! This is Hyde and Tassia story, Hyde is a country superstar and Tassia is an R&B singer with an up and coming career ! A big time couple producers want Hyde and Tassia to collaborate on a new album, Hyde wants nothing to do with it because they were on a kiddie show together and he tried so hard to break away from that image (think Britney and Justin lol) Tassia iffy about it to because she's had some run ins with Hyde over the years and they weren't good! They end up doing it and that's were the fun begins lol this story was funny ,hot, little drama, and just a cute fun story! I definitely enjoyed reading this book! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
