I enjoyed the first book in the Sugar series, Sugar Sweet, and was excited to read the second installment. The story features the dating app introduced in Sugar Sweet, only this time the roles are reversed: Kayla is the millionaire business owner, and Devin is the student debt riddled "sugar baby."

I wasn't particularly fond of either MC. Their backstories felt thrown in last minute as a way to justify their motivations and break up. And Devin came off as creepy at times. I think he was supposed to be sweet and chivalrous, but his habit of calling women he just met "beautiful" was skeevy to me. Also, his "goodness" was over the top (volunteering at the soup kitchen, calling his momma frequently, helping out his roommate's family).

I adored Simone, Kayla's best friend, but didn't understand how they were friends, making Simone seem like a means to an end for the plot only. I would, however, be interested in reading her story.

Kayla Arnold is a very successful entrepreneur, Devin Ford is a grad student in need of $ for school debt. two unlikely to ever cross paths....unless your on the same dating site.

Devin was out celebrating completing his Ph.d, by drinking a little too much. He ended up signing up for dates on a sugar daddy dating website. Kayla's best friend convinces Kayla to look at the sugar daddy site. Kayla has to attend her high school reunion, and she doesn’t want to attend alone. After meeting Devin, he agrees to attend with her. The story takes us to the reunion and the mutual bond that grows between Kayla and Devin. They didn't plan for it to happen, but it did. What a sweet romance, I enjoyed every minute of this story. Everything was perfect, even the supporting characters: Mark the Limo driver, Simone, Mr. & Mrs. Babineau who run the B&B all make this story extremely enjoyable.

Sugar & Spice is a hot story but with a solid plot. The story is well-written and does include a romance at the heart of it. Ms. d'Abo has outdone herself with this excellent story. Will definitely be on my must read authors list.

Kayla Arnold - Successful entrepreneur in need of a date
Devin Ford - Professional student in need of $ for school debt

While Devin celebrates completing his Phd by drinking with friends and signing up for dates on a sugar daddy dating website, Kayla is eating Thai food with her BFF. The BFF convinces Kayla to look at the sugar daddy site. She notices Devin’s picture and is intrigued. Kayla has to attend her high school reunion (she has generously donated to the school and they want to honor her), she doesn’t want to attend alone. Devin agrees to run interference for Kayla, helping her with busy-bodies and Kayla’s ex-husband. They manage to to navigate the reunion, run into some trouble with the ex-husband (who no longer wishes to remain an ex-) and Devin figures out what he really wants to be when he grows up. Good romance with high heat factor.

I loved the supporting characters: Mark the Limo driver, Simone the BFF, Mr. & Mrs. Babineau who run the B&B.

Kayla grew up in a small town in Canada. Now she’s a multimillionaire with her own clothing line company. A library is being named after her in her town and she really doesn’t want to go back. Her best friend convinces her to sign up for a sugar daddy website. Devin just finished his PhD and was drunk one night when his friends signed him up. So, when he gets a message he’s very surprised. He answers and agrees to go to her reunion as her fake boyfriend. What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.
Good story, sexy, and it made me a little teary eyed. Kayla is an independent, beautiful and giving woman. Devin is always there for anyone who needs him and handsome.

Christine d’abo does a great job at creating erotic stories with a beating heart. Sugar and Spice is another example of her talent in action. Yes, there are sexy times, but there’s also a great guy still morning the loss of his dad, a best friend who is helping is family while his mother endured another round of chemo and a heroine who gives and gives and finally meets a man worthy of her heart.

Engaging characters and realistic conflicts/situations made this novel for me. The chemistry between Devin and Kayla are out of this world. Their unorthodox relationship starts off with rules then slowly escalates to a heartwarming romance. A must read!
