I really enjoyed that these were recipes aimed at 2 people and that the ingredients were easy to find. There was enough variety to make it interesting and the format was easy to understand.

Nice collection of simple and fresh dishes. I love the addition of tips and tricks for pantry stocking, storage, and serving. A great place to start for new cooks.

This book was received as an ARC from Artisan Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

We are always on the search for new and inspiring Cookbooks to try for our Cooking Demo program at our library. Our criteria is that the recipes must include photos, must be easy to follow, and there has to be at least five recipes that out of the book that our patrons are willing to try. This book met all the criteria and then some. All of the recipes look and sound delicious and we even showed some of our patrons and they responded very well to it and wondered if the book was going to be featured in our program. When the book comes out it will definitely circulate well at our library.

We will definitely consider adding this title to our Cookbook collection in our Non-Fiction section at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Loved this book! Amazing recipes with ranges of difficulty. While some of the recipes are pretty standard - like Caesar salad and griled cheese with tomato soup they’re probably not the first ones I would choose to make but I understand their addition.

The Newlywed Table is a lovely cookbook, geared at helping beginners make their way around a kitchen. Zizka includes helpful information, such as useful equipment, pantry lists, and a registry checklist. As a soon-to-be newlywed myself, I thought that was a nice touch. The book is divided into categories, like most other cookbooks, making it easy and familiar to navigate. The categories cover all your basics, featuring Dinners for Two, Vegetarian Mains, Sides, When Company Comes Over, Sweets, Breakfast Anytime, Snacks, Kitchen Projects, and Little Extras. I am not a total kitchen novice, so some of the recipes featured are givens for me. However, it gives the opportunity to try and make recipes from scratch that many are probably used to buying already prepped from the store. I tried a recipe from each category (except Vegetarian Mains. Turns out the risotto was in Dinner for Two) and found them simple to follow and no real crazy ingredients. They're easy enough to customize, like substituting all pork in the dumplings instead of shrimp and pork. Overall, I think it's a good starting point for couples who are just starting out, though I do wish there was more focus on two-person meals. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
